I liked my hair cut the first time I came here. I made an appointment recently and they didn't seem like they wanted to help me . I was told to wait around the corner of the salon (not even in the lobby) because I was 5 minutes early. I did not mind waiting but after 35 minutes of waiting for my appointment, and nobody said anything to me, I decided to just leave. Got my hair done here while I was pregnant, just wanted her to make my hair an even color and I left in tears with splotchy hair. They didn't care that I was pregnant and literally left the salon bawling, they still made me pay for the horrible splotchy hair color. Don't recommend this place, I should've known better but I wanted to look nice for when my mother in law came to visit. Absolutely a joke if I can give negative stars I would, and if you're a Spanish only speaker expect to be treated like absolute trash. My mother has had an appointment and would reschedule when they called the day before to confirm the appointment her English is broken and has rescheduled herself when there is no Spanish speaker available!!! She had an appointment but she had a voicemail from the "store manager" saying "due to her canceling the day of they wouldn't be able to guarantee that if she showed up to her appointment if her stylist would be able to help" if there was a way for me to upload the damn voicemail I would so you all can hear the condescending message but that woman is lucky I can't! So I called today and spoke to Jessie or Jesse and asked why they were saying that my mom has canceled day of when she had never done that she said "let me talk to the stylist" comes back to the phone and says " manager called your mom and relayed the info she was told by the stylist and the day she canceled same day I DELT WITH HER". I could not believe the damn words and tone this Jessie chick used!!! The way they handle their appointments is a damn joke and if there are policies on how appointments are handled for rescheduling they should be transparent! Our first mistake is going to these JCPENNEYS Salon to begin with. Maybe hire someone with customer service experience to help the front desk/phone because they are a big reason customer wont be coming back. read more

JC Penny's Salon-Hair Designer: Christie I haven't met someone who was so passionate about hair and their job in the salon. It was very refreshing and she was very friendly and full of humor! I came in today at 6PM (the salon was closing at 7PM)... Despite the possibility of finishing after closing time, she was still patient and fully committed to giving my hair the proper attention, rather than just rushing through my cut. I got a basic 1-1.5in trim off the length and long layers. I am in love with my hair cut, even though it was just a simple one--she really knew what she was doing! On Sunday March 4th I went in to this salon asking how much it would be to get my hair to a bright vivid color magenta purple and blue I showed them a picture so they were well aware of what I wanted and the lady said $200. I said ok, thinking it was going to look like the picture I showed her. She said do you have 6 hours cause that's how long it's gonna take as if I didn't have the time. I said yes that's fine. So she brought me back we choose the colors and everything and she got me to blonde first. At the end it didn't come out how I wanted it she did offer to re do but she was kind of acting like she did not want to redo. She was saying she could see both colors to her co workers right in front of me. So I waited like she recommended washed it and then went back for a redo. You can see a bit more color this time around but it's not what I asked for. So yes sad to say I am disappointed with the outcome. It looks better than it did so I am happy about that. But paying $200 it should have came out how I wanted it. The lady was nice and re did it and tried her best but that's beside the point. They could have given me a partial refund considering the outcome wasn't what I asked for and what they quoted me. Below I will post photos of what I asked for and both outcomes. read more

I went to the Vintage Faire JCP Salon yesterday while shopping at the mall. It was raining and I felt like I needed to treat myself to a wash and blow out. Upon arriving, I did not have an appt, and asked how much it would be? The woman had a hard time locating the "chart", but said they start at $22. I said excited, "oh that's okay, does someone have time to fit me in?" She guided me to the chairs and a few minutes later, a gal with beautiful shades of purple hair, guided me to the washing station. We chatted as she washed and conditioned my hair. I mentioned my hair was so dry, so she asked if I wanted a deep condition. I said yes. I am thinking $22 + $10.00ish $32.00ish. When we got to her station she asked me how I wanted it cut. I said, "oh, no cut just a wash & blow out." So she dried my hair and also used a straightener. When she was done, I really missed my hair dresser. It was frizzy, messy and hair sticking out everywhere. I was very unhappy, but thanked her, as I learn my lesson and would not do this again. When we got to the register, imagine my shock when she said, "that will be $55.00." I said, "oh no, that can't be right, I was told a wash & blow out started at $22." She said, "but I'm a Master Stylist." I said, "I don't care, that's not what I was told." She just looked shocked and said, "sorry." I paid her and even tipped her $10, but am kicking myself for not asking for a manager, or the store manager! I was robbed. I was lied to and mid-lead. There were four other "stylist" behind the counter when this took place. I wanted to ask them if any of them actually changed the quoted $22.00? WHY would they give me a Master Stylist, if I had to ask the price?! I have shopped at JCP and used their salon for decades, and I will NEVER use their salon again! I have never been more humiliated in my life! The stylist left my hair a mess and tinged blue, green and yellow! There were about seven stylists with clients and they ALL, just watched and let it happen, never said anything nor did they try to fix it they just stood by and stared. Why would you let anyone walk away with a disgusting job and not try to help!?! Why? I spent 5.5 hours and I had to pay $180 for this mess and the stylist still asked for a tip? I was so mad I wanted to literally run out of there. But I had my daughters with me. I couldn't set that kind of example! The worst customer service ever! I cried over this! I went to Ulta where there was only one stylist on duty but she had enough compassion for me, to fix what JCPenney did to me, telling me it was not her first time fixing a bad job from JCPenney! Be careful going to the one in the Modesto mall. I was new in town and decided to get a trim for my very long hair. I think her name was Jennifer. She talked me into cutting off a lot more than I wanted, which was fine, whatever. However she was only supposed to trim my long layers also, but put in a bunch of choppy, horrible layers. I almost look like I have a long mullet! The layers are super random. The ones in front are longer than the ones in back, when they come forward it's obvious they are uneven and choppy. The highlights she put in my hair were about a half inch from my root so it looked like I needed a touch up right after I left. I'm pretty sure she was also on something, the way she was acting. Told her I just moved from Japan (military) and she made some racist remarks and when I asked her to stop brushing my earring she told my daughter I was being a baby. I booked my appointment online for a cut and highlight. When I got there she said I had to do a conditioning treatment which of course cost more. She also kept trying to sell me things and seemed aggravated when I didn't want to buy them. She then sat and stared at me while I paid, I guess to see if I would say something. The whole experience was horrible. I talked to the manager and all she offered was to try and fix my highlights. I walked in with hair I loved and paid $150 to walk out hating my hair read more

I've been twice. experience #1- i was going to a wedding and felt like getting cute (-er than normal that is :-) . and i decided last minute that I'd walk-in and see what they could do. "Transform me into Lauren Conrad from the HIlls. work your magic." So it was about 11:30. they could fit me a noon. perfect. My lady (can't remember her name. but she had the red lipstick,. black hair -short bangs- "i wish i was Dita Von T" look about her. very sweet.) after much discussion she did some curling and i came out of the situation very pleased. thank you Dita. experience #2: since dita was so nice/good, i decided to try for a hair cut. (dun dun duuuun.) daring, i know. now let me preface this by saying I am a salon- goin'- girl. Been to Reflections, Villa 2000, a place in Lodi,places in LA..I've been to a lot. and onward we go..: phone call to make appt: me: i'd like to make an appt lady: with anyone in particular? me: maybe someone young, someone who knows current trends,etc lady: not a problem. you'll have katie. sweet. im in. so i get there right on time. the lady at the counter looked like she had been homeless at some point in her life..had a little case of the meth-face (umhmmm) and maybe smoked since she was a child..now in her early 60's. cool. she had short short hair too (which she later said she had over processed and broke off and was like"fuzz"..RED FLAG #1!!!) me: i have an appt at 4" meth lady: oh ok thats with me me ::to my self::: WWWWTTTTFFF-i asked for someone young... so we proceed with the hair cut: her wash was as if my head was a foreign object and she had never washed a head of hair before in her life...her scissors we as dull as a butter knife. (as she ran them through my hair it sounded as if fabirc was ripping. and i have some healthy ass hair ppl!) and oh, by the way..she said she had been doing hair for like 12 years...hmmmhmmmm. (b*tch didn't use ONE tool to blowdry my hair...she USED her fingers...um..wheres the brush. wheres the clip...are you still on METH?) needless to say i went back to get it fixed a couple hours later..it bothered me that much (by Katie) bc the meth lady had jacked me up! and Katie notcied a HUGE chunk missing, sweet. case in point-DO NOT SEE KIM AT JCP SALON!!!! Katie suggested i get a refund ($33 for hair cut and wash and blowdry) I called the manager who was VERY nice. Second time I have been disappointed with this salon. Most recently I have seen Jenny. The first time she tried to sell me everything. I also told her I wanted no blond highlights. Yet there they were. They will calm down. No they got lighter. The second time I told her again no blond and the color was better but then she cut my hair much shorted then I wanted. The third time told her DO NOT CUT MY HAIR YOU SCREWED IT UP LAST TIME. She again gave me super blond high lights and insisted she cut a little off my hair!!!! What part on NO does she not get. I gave her three tries, her and I trying to get on the right path to WHAT I WANTED, ITS MY HAIR. This is third strike !!!!! I now have to go some where and have it fixed. Are you kidding me! This is not meant to bash the stylist btw, just an honest review. I went in for cut and foil initially, turned into cut and bayalage. My hair is choppy and rough from the dry quick hair cut. Some pieces are longer than others then the color. Something went wrong, I've had color for years from blonde to red, this was just disappointing. The color didn't "set" and she used a dark toner( her words) so now my hair is orange. Then she did partial foils on top which confused me. The highlights are light blonde on light brown on orange. Yep. Then we rinse. I paid $15 for a "deep conditioning " service. Bruh. She literally plopped some conditioner in my hair while I'm still in the sink bowl, then rinses after 35 seconds. How is that a deep conditioning treatment? She rinses very rough. I have fine thin hair, continuously scrubbing my hair roughly will strip my hair if it's natural oil, now it's dry I can't fix it at home, she damaged my hair that badly. I wanted to cry after I saw my hair. It's so dead on the ends and I'm very insecure with short hair, but now I have to go shorter i wish a little more patience and care went into my $130.00 service. I use to love this salon but my hair is so damaged and sad, I'll never be back. read more

I was so very pleasantly surprised by my experience at the salon. I don't live in the area so I just kind of came on a whim and was pretty brave because I needed something very drastic done on my hair. I had actually had it colored about a week and a half earlier at a different salon and the gal who did my hair the first time didn't even come close to coloring at how I wanted and was not willing to try to fix it at all. So my stylist Jenny Who I was told is one of the best in the salon with color, "she's a genius" with color is what they told me. Well I took a chance and I'm so glad he did she completely listened and understood exactly what I was looking for I wanted all of my brassy yellow tones gone and to be changed all the way to cool white highlights which is not easy to do and she nailed it! WOW Jenny knows what she's doing and was so confident the whole time she works super fast and is just a super fun high-energy and a really sharp gal and I'll always go to her in the future even though i don't live that close! My hair is extremely difficult (coarse and curly and frizzy), so I opted for a EnviroChi Blowout. I was a bit skeptical about the promised results, but after I had no doubts on the amazing effects of the blowout. Enjoli did an amazing job on my hair. She made me feel comfortable. The blowout plus the haircut and styling took about 3hours, but it is completely worth the wait. I feel so much more confident with my hair. The Jcpenny Salon was welcoming and clean. I started going to JCP Salon a few years ago when I counted get an appointment at Salon Salon. It was a bit of a gamble, but JCP was open more days a week, more hours... I did have a sketchy stylist the first time, but I think she was fired and I didn't see her again. Now I go to Mona at JCP and I cannot sing this woman's praises enough. She does my eyebrows, and they look amazing when I walk out of there. I also get highlights and a cut, and believe me, people sometimes stop and ask where I get my hair done. She is extremely professional and friendly. I can't speak for all of the stylists there, but she's amazing. Go! read more
