I'm a bit surprised that these stores still exist but when I need that random item I can't find elsewhere or the prices seem just right I'll buy it here. Which has been like twice in 3-4 years. My shampoo was on sale here for $31 vs. Amazon for $50, so I did a pickup order. The directions to locate the order were simple. I found the registers easily and picked up my order quickly. JC Penny, I understand that business is slow and you are working hard to attract customers into your store. Here's the problem, I like your clothes, prices are reasonable, but you can't check out. I was there today, made my selection on the 2nd floor. Wandered around passing closed stations. Lots of staff decorating, chatting, etc. but no where to check out. Went downstairs wandered around some more and finally said to my partner, just put the stuff down, it's not worth it. He chose to approach an associate and asked. She was frustrated and lowered her phone, told us all the check stands downstairs were closed and we would need to go back upstairs. And then she started to resume her phone call which was pretty obviously personally. But I'm frustrated at this point and I say we wandered around upstairs and all of the check stands up there or closed. She lowered her phone again and told us oh you have to go to the far corner of the men's station. She wouldn't give us that information proactively. Guys if you want to survive and we need to have brick and Mortar stores, basic customer service, with the ability to actually purchase something is more effective than whatever event you were decorating for. read more

Lots of sales going on now. Lots of cute styles both in clothes, and shoes. Good prices on winter boots. I finally found a pair of boots that fit, and were on sale, but wouldn't you know, no boots are left in my size. So disappointed. I'm a big fan of JC Penney-have been for many years. I find that that styles of clothing resonate with me and the prices are usually where I'm comfortable spending. This past weekend, I visited the mall location for some back to school shopping for my teen son. While he was trying on clothes (much to his chagrin-he HATES doing that), I was meandering outside the dressing room. The displays of messy shirts and ties caught my attention, so I started organizing them. My OCD can't handle seeing things in such a state. After I got one table done, I went to another. There was garbage, dust and clutter everywhere. Totally filthy. Although I love tidying up and enjoyed organizing the racks, it didn't leave me wanting to purchase more than I had intended. read more

A few friends got separated from the main group, so they were looking around in here to see if they could find us. They peeked into a hallway and realized it was a back room and started walking the other way. Apparently this made a worker mad and she kicked them out for "looking like they were about to walk into a back room." Maybe you should look into firing a few people. read more

I use to love to shop at JC Penny, but lately I've been really disappointed in their prices. They have definitely gone up and they are now out of my price range unless their is a really good sale. My favorite kids clothing brand from there is Okie Dokey. They are super cute and often have matching sets and are still a fairly good price when on sale. I hope the prices improve. read more

I do enjoy a quick stroll around JC Penney wherever it may be, and as one of the cornerstones of the South Towne Center I'm certainly glad that this particular location seems to continue to do well. It's well stocked, with all the usual things you expect in a department store, modern and staff is always helpful when needed. When it comes to men's clothing in particular, I've always found these stores a nice middle of the road alternative to your higher end discount stores, and on the other side your higher end department stores. They fill a niche and do it with great customer service to boot. If you're one of those people that doesn't generally consider JC Penney on your list of go to places, I'd say think again - especially if you consider them just a little un-hip and haven't visited one of their locations in a while. I visited this store yesterday looking for shoes and it looked it like it had been ransacked! The display shoes were all over the top shelf. Boxes were not in order. Paper shoe fillers all over the floor. The purses looked like they'd been dumped from a box onto the display table. In the women's section, clothes off hangers were sling over the racks. I wish I'd taken pictures. I thought maybe the store was closing and having a close out sale. Very shocked and disappointed. I left and went to the Valley Fair store and found what I needed. read more

J tried to do an even exchange at this store and I wasn't able to because I didn't have a gift receipt (the item was a gift). It was the exact same thing, just a smaller size and color because they didn't have my size in the same color. This is why this store is struggling! Their customer service needs help. read more

I was threatened by the store manager today because she told me to pull my mask up over my nose. I've had covid and now struggle with vertigo if my face is covered too much--I had the mask covering my mouth only. I handed her the clothing in my hand and began to walk out of the store. She then said she hoped I got "hit by a train." This is totally unacceptable behavior from a manager level employee. Makes me wonder how she is treating her direct reports. Sadly, I won't be shopping at JC Penny's any longer. They can ask me to wear a mask - and I did, but they can't, or shouldn't force me to cover my nose. But more importantly, her comment wishing me dead was horrible! Shame on her - she should be reprimanded. read more

I went to look for a dress my granddaughter had picked out. The prices were very reasonable. They didn't have the right size. That is why they didn't get a 5 star. Since they didn't have the right size Leah looked up which store might have the right size and then gave them a call. The other store didn't make it easy for Leah she was on hold for a very long time and kept apologizing to me for the wait. Being very concerned about my time. She found the dress and had them hold it. She was amazing. read more

I have been shopping at JCPenney in store locations for the great part of my life. There has never been any issues and customer service has been great. This time I thought I would branch out and shop the store online. After placing an order I patiently waited for the delivery of the dress. Two weeks have gone by without a single peep from the online store. I called the online service to see why my dress had never come and I was informed that my order was canceled because they lost the dress and or did not have the dress in their warehouse. Their response to my issue was sorry there's nothing that can be done. This is very upsetting because now I am without address for an upcoming holiday event and I was never informed so I could make different arrangements. read more

The jewelry counter had sale signs all over it (we were there at noon today) but when the employee finally deigned to acknowledge our presence there she refused to honor the sale price because apparently no employee had removed the sale signs and the sale was now over. The employee was rude and acted like she would rather be anywhere else on earth. Which isn't surprising considering this store was the most disorganized and poorly staffed JC Penney's I've ever seen. read more

The staff upstairs are very competent and helpful. However that cannot be said for the staff down stairs which you have to go and see if you want to exchange or return anything purchased online. On a few occasions I've waited over 30 minutes in line for a return with only a couple people in front of me. If you have a return or exchange from an online purchase I recommend going to another location. read more

Avoid MEGHAN in the shoe department!! I visited this jcpenny yesterday, 12/7 at around 1pm to exchange a pair of shoes that my son had received for Christmas that were too small. This should have been an easy transaction, right? Exchanging a size 7 unworn in the box converse shoes for the exact same shoe, size 8. Not with Meghan. I had to wait in line for about 10 mins because the guest in front of me had some sort of issue. When it was my turn I tried to explain what I needed. Meghan had a very hard time grasping what I was telling her. My mom was with me and also tried to get Meghan to understand. Finally she told me to swipe my card and when I asked why she said I was paying $70 for the shoes plus 8 shipping in a very rude and irritated voice. I let her know, again, that this was an exchange. She told me she knew exactly what she was doing and that she is the manager over shoes and that I can't just expect to get shoes for free! I asked her what about the money my mother in law had already paid for the smaller shoes as they were a christmas gift from her. She rolled her eyes and very slowly said that she had not gotten that far and if I would just pay for the shoes she would return the money to my mother in laws card. Now, why would she do that?? They were a gift. I don't need to pay for them again! The more I tried reasoning the more hostile she became. Finally after at least 20 minutes of this I was fed up and let her know I wanted to speak with a different associate. I went downstairs to customer service and let the associate know what I needed and they returned the smaller shoes and ordered the new ones. The process was done accurately and took about 5 minutes. I got screwed out of a $10.00 off coupon because of an employee who didn't know what she was doing and scanned it but I couldn't use it and next time I went to use it, it said it was already used. There new everyday low pricing is not low prices. I have been a big shopper of JC Penneys for years . I know there pricing and this is not low, I love coupons and sales. Women love to see how much they are saving. Example: I purchased a pair of Sketchers one month ago with my $10.00 reward and 15 % off coupon I paid $ 25.00 now there everyday low prices make them $45.00. Some of there items are the same as there sale prices were, but there is no 15% coupons to take that price down even further. I am searching for a new place to spend my hard earned money. read more

Very dissatisfied. Ordered boots and they sent them to my old address of theee years ago. I order on line all the time. They did not contact me when the boots wer not delivered after two attempts the only choice I have is to wait until they show up back at the warehouse and then they will refund my money. Customer service person not helpful at all. I will not give them business again. read more
