Visited this JCPenney location after seeing their "closing" sign and sale. This particular location was having a fairly big "all things must go" sale as the store location was closing down. So, alongside my mom, we walked around to see what we could find. It is a much older store location. So, we didn't really find too much of anything that spoke to us. However, I did come up with a really nice comforter set for 70% off. I couldn't pass it up. Beyond that, most of what was probably really a great deal had already been sold. It's a bummer the mall is closed now but know that J.C. Penny is still open for business! You can't walk through the mall to get to J.C. Penny and the remaining open stores; alternatively, you must drive around to the main entrance of each store location to enter. We stopped in to see what kind of Post Christmas deals we could find and we definitely found some. I picked up some meat claws for $9.99 (Reg Price $18), a pair of relaxed fit jeans for $29.99 (Reg Price $48), a pair of Volcom Chinos for $42 (Reg Price $49.50), Levi's Chino shorts for $34.99 (Reg Price $50), and three Queen Sealy pillows for $30 combined (Reg Price $30 each). There is not a lot of staff on duty, but the ones that are here are doing the best they can and are as friendly as can be. The store is still pretty well organized and clean. Staff does a great job of keeping the displays going and putting things back where they belong when customers move things around; however, they could improve the cleanliness of the fitting rooms. We had some trouble checking out and needed to have the clerk track down our accounts because they recently changed over to a new system. Not a major deal but it slowed down the checkout process. One of the problems I've always had with J.C. Penny is that they never carry button-down collard shirts that actually look cool or have a dressy Rock-n-Roll vibe. If you're a Golfer or a Yacht owner they got everything you need but for a rocker like me all they have is some black jeans and a few band tees. If they could do better in this department I would shop here much more often. All-in-all, an overall great shopping experience, and we will be back next time were shopping in the area. read more

I give four gold stars for JCPenney for staying open as long as they can. I still like to come shopping here and they're giving some pretty good discounts with the app. Last week we bought shorts and shirts and jewelry this week I bought some sheets that were regularly $200 and I got them for $60. And I asked myself when the heck did Queen sheets become $200! Anyway please come support JCPenney's while they're still open I think they'll be closing soon. . First, I am disappointed with the level of service at the store. There was no one to help me in the Lingerie or the Footware Departments. The whole store only had two cashiers. My cashier was not even friendly. I was surprised that JcPenny had this low level of customer service. The Lingerie had a limited amount of bras in my size. The footware department did not even have a handful of wide sizes. This low inventory was very disappointing. Their clearance sales items are not priced to move. There is little reason to return to the store. I am wondering how long this going to last? read more

Not only wonderful fresh selections- but excellent sales help as well! I couldn't BELIEVE the selections- everything I needed... and THEN some for a crazy good price!! I purchased my wedding ring from the Sanford JCPenney's opposed to the higher end diamond stores. I received a $40 reward after the purchase. I purchased two bras online and paid $15 out of pocket for shipping and the remainder of the costs. Unfortunately, the bras did not fit. I created the return online in my account and was instructed to return them to the local Sanford location. The cashier completed the return and handed me a gift card for $5.22. I asked her to make it an exchange as I was not going to be able to purchase another bra for $5. The cashier told me she can't do that so I asked her to Void the return, and I would keep the bras opposed to losing all of my money. I was told the transaction was complete and she would call a manager, but I would be told the same thing. The cashier then proceeded to rudely tell me that, "everyone knows that at JCPenney you use you lose your rewards." I said Well I should have been notified that if that's the case, so I had the choice whether to keep or return the items. When I got home, I called customer service and was also told they can't do anything for me. This is unethical and theft as far as I'm concerned. I will never shop at JCPenney's again and I will inform everyone I know of their terrible customer service. read more

Definitely an older location and has the look and feel to match. They have all the merch you're use to seeing at the chain, with the added bonus of older carpeting and design elements. It could use a facelift cosmetically but has what you need / want. The staff is friendly and always greets us when we come in. Bathrooms are kept clean and neat for the majority. Smells like the 90s but without the legendary customer service or catalog desk ... which should have very successfully translated into online sales long before Amazon but whatever. Careful management due to the influence of retirees on the books and a willingness to live off the sales of diversified investments for years and years. Rod Johnson came too hard too late and had his own best interest at heart, methinks. I digress, I'll never forget Gwendolyn for helping us every year with our school shopping at the old Sanford store. The one on 17-92 that closed when this one opened up. Anyway, Seems like they're coasting towards an end of life scenario treading water and not doing anything really to stay relevant or fresh. And merchandising's at an all time low, there's just not enough employees to keep up. Store often looks like a yard sale. I'm sometimes in for socks, Xmas returns, and some rubber necking but honestly haven't done any actual business with them in the last few years despite trying to make a point of it. Quality's dropped so low and they're always out of whatever I need; online and offline. Was honestly actually easier to find my last JCP St. John's Bay shirt at a thrift store!!!!!!!!! I came here for some Black Friday shopping in the evening of Thanksgiving day. It opened at 2PM that day, which I think is ridiculous. My turkey wasn't even warm by then. But whatever works for their business. Some of the doorbusters weren't very attractive to me, especially not at 2PM. I do like, however, that they have their own little brand called Cook or Cooks or something. They had some really great deals. You have to do a little extra work and send in a mail-in rebate, but other than that, I got some really good stuff. I like the way the store is set up. I don't have any examples of a bad store setup, to be fair, but I found everything I wanted pretty easily. The employees were also very nice. If I had a question or a complaint, they always went way out of their way to help me. A lot of stuff here is overpriced compared to some of the other big box stores out there, but I've never complained about the quality of the items that came out of a JCPenny, I'll tell you that. read more

The salon is horrible. The master stylists have no skills and won't cut your hair the way you want to. They will cut it with what they think is best for them. Horrible experience paid $75 for haircut wash blow dry no style and tip. read more

I had an emergency need for a replacement belt, so I hit the mall figuring that I could visit a couple of stores with one shot and the first one I wandered was JCPenney. The store is clean and bright and well stocked. The menswear department did have a few bargains on button down shirts and the slacks looked pretty good. Sadly, I didn't find a belt here that met my requirements. read more

I like JCPenney's, maybe because my mom worked there for years, but also because they tend to have what I need for reasonable prices and with good quality. I like this JCPenney's because where I enter from the parking lot walks right into the lady's lingerie into women's clothing. I like to get underwear, bras, socks, golf shirts, sweats, swimsuits and a few nice blouses. Also tennis shoes and sandals. I like the linens, too and bath towels. I ended up buying stools and a few lamps here too because they had what I needed when I saw them in the store. They recently started a program where the checker can check you out anywhere in the store with a handheld device--really cool. The lady that helped me was at the check stand but the mobile ability seemed pretty fast. The staff is usually really friendly about supplying coupons, explaining deals and helping you find supplies. They'll hold your large items for you, too, until you leave which can be a back saver. My husband likes the men's underwear and especially their cotton handkerchiefs and shirts. JCPenney usually has good deals at the right time of year. read more

I recently had my eyebrows waxed in Sephora, the esthetician there that did them her name is Ukali, she is the most AMAZING, and TALENTED person I've ever got my eyebrows waxed by, she takes great care of you and what separates her from the rest is her outstanding luxury service. I received a makeup bag with deluxe makeup samples AND skin care, she gave me this eye treatment too that just gave me a healthy awake look, she's just the best. Everyone that works in this story is very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of clothing for all members of my family and are usually having decent sales. They are currently constructing a Sephora inside the store which earned it an additional star. Once the Sephora is up and running I am sure I will be shopping here more frequently. read more

Decided to buy some boots and some clothing they had advertised 5 for 30 got five items brought it to the register wrong up the boots which were $25 and the five items for 30 came out to a total of $85 cashier was so stupid when I asked her why the total was $85 she said plus the tax which was $5 I then responded that would be $55 why is there an extra $30 she then said to me because the five items were differently priced and I had said they are 5 for 30 are they not the same brand she said no they are I again asked then how come it's not ringing 5 for 30 she again replied to me because they're different prices I do think her stupid brain could not comprehend what I was saying so I told her I did not want the five items if they were not 5 for 30 as advertised she then again asked me if I was sure and I said well what do you think you advertise them 5 for 30 and add an extra $30 to it would you want it she Shrugged her shoulders and said I don't know and took them off, millennials are just lazy and stupid another thing that pisses me off is that this is the only JCPenney around and I had to drive more than 20 miles to get to it read more

This JcPenney has HORRENDOUS customer service. You're lucky if the ladies in lingerie say hello to you when your checking out instead of talking to each and gossiping. I got my hair done at the salon about a year ago and the stylist used vulgar language, talked bad about each of her co-workers, and made completely inappropriate comments. I was absolutely taken aback and uncomfortable the entire time. Hopefully this will all be corrected in the future. read more
