So is it just me or has JC Penney gotten really matronly over the years? I never found it the epitome of fashion, but I would occasionally find items that I like there, but on my most recent visit everything looked super frumpy to me. Maybe it's just this location (?) JC Penney is a department store that I would say is similar to Sears. Prices are ok and they have a clearance section with lower prices. This location had a Sephora in it (I'm not sure if all JC Penney's do or not), and this location is inside the Salmon Run Mall. read more

This rating is in regards to the salon. I'm in my 30's and this is the worst haircut of my adult life. The color turned out ok, but not the cut. I have long straight hair...not difficult...or so I thought. I was just getting some length taken off and a bit of long layers. I took four pictures in including one that was actually of me with the hair I wanted. After specifically asking for just a few very long layers, I now have a butchered head of hair full of VERY short layers. It will take at least a year to grow out. My layers circa 1986 match the quality of staff at this salon. I will never go back or refer them. read more

I went in for a hair trim and while the girl who trimmed my hair was polite I believe she went about it completely wrong. Anytime I've ever gotten my hair cut I've gotten it washed, this was not the case here. The girl just brushed my hair and started cutting away. She had no idea how to do layers and took off about 3 inches more than I had asked! She cut my bangs way to short then proceeded to straighten my until I could smell it burning. I was so angry I paid the $32 and walked across the mall to Regis salon where I had to pay another $80 to have my hair fixed. read more

Worst JCPenny I have ever been in. They don't even have a "dressy clothes" area, which considering its the only department store in the area they should carry them, makes it very difficult to shop for that kind of thing. Disappointment. Also didnt like their salon too much. read more

So I've always had good luck buying dresses at JC Penney in the past, and although this is a smaller, more dimly lit JC Penney than other ones I've been to, it had a good selection of brands and styles and I quickly found a great dress (on sale!). There was a sweet little lady manning the changerooms, but the staff at the checkout seemed a bit dim. I'm not complaining, just merely stating that customer service at the desk could be a bit more upbeat. I'll be back to this location next time, because I'm always on the hunt for a good dress at a good price, despite the service levels of the store. read more

I went to the salon to get my hair cut. I said I wanted a straight bob NO LAYERS, I said it multiple times. By the time she was done my hair was so uneven and now almost 8 months later my hair hasn't grown correctly and the layers are still showing. It was the worst hair cut I ever received. I made appointments for my kids to get cuts. I just recently had a double masectomy and cannot wash my hair, because of drain tubes, incisions and just not being able to reach. I asked how much it was for a wash, Sandy, the manager and Amanda, a stylist generously washed my hair and didn't charge me. They just wanted to do an act of kindness. I really appreciate it. I've been going to the JC Penney salon for the past 2-3 years. While I never do any kind of color, I always go to Ashley for my trims. She's a really nice girl and does a great job. I never get anything extravagant done, just a basic trim up when my lengths get crazy. I've referred a few different people to her and I was also a referral, so I know Ashley is good at what she does. read more

Went at lunchtime on a Monday. There was not one associate assisting in men's dress wear. The ones working around that department didn't offer any help and when I asked for assistance they weren't sure who was working there that could help me. I managed to get what I originally came for but they definitely didn't get any extra business out of me. read more

The salon has the worst customer service. 3 different occasions: 1) I had an appointment made for 6pm and no one helped me until 6:25pm. 2) Called to make an appointment once, got put on hold for 10 min and I just hung up. 3) Just today I was there and the phone rang about 20 times in a row and nobody even attempted to get it. I even heard one hair dresser say "I'll just let someone get it." Like I said, worst customer service ever! read more

This is for the salon: A stylist name Julie cut and high/ low lighted my hair. The cut is decent. She flat ironed my short curly hair, so I didn't notice that she only did about 1/3 of my head with the coloring until I combed out my hair later that day. The top layer of my hair color looks good, underneath is a mess. I spoke to the stylist on the phone today, she refused to agree to fix her mistakes. I asked to speak with the manager to request a partial refund for just the high lights and low lights. I feel the stylist should be paid for the decent cut. I have to go into the store to speak to the manager. She will decide if I get a refund. I'm not holding my breath though after all the excuses I heard today. I'm NEVER using this salon again. read more

My husband went in to get a very simple low taper hair cut which anyone should be able to do. The lady ended up cutting too high and claimed that my husband said " a 1 high" which I don't know where she got 1 high from low tapered. She proceeded to "fix it" and told him it was the best she could do. (he literally had a patch) we then asked for the specialist and he did a GREAT job fixing it. It was not what he wanted but definitely better then what the lady claimed was the best of her ability. if you must go to JcP for a haircut, ask for the male specialist! read more

Rude at the time of reception. I walked in with my 3 children and the receptionist sneered at the fact that I wanted to get them each a haircut. If they didn't have time I was more than happy to go elsewhere, but thought I might try JCP first because they have been known to do kids cuts. Once she got them all in I figured we might get lucky and have a sweet stylist. Absolutely not the case, she asked who wanted to go first and my kids kinda looked around but my daughter who was excited to go first jumped up and down and the stylist glared at her. At the end of the 3 haircuts I paid with credit and took out $15 gratuity, the receptionist held this money and handed it to the stylist when she was all finished. The stylist thanked the RECEPTIONIST and walked away without thanking myself or saying goodbye to the kids. All of the haircuts were good, there are no complaints there, but their personalities leave little to be desired especially for a place that is famous for kids haircuts. We won't be going back and I will risk a crappy cut for a much better child-friendly experience. read more
