I purchased an engine last Thursday with Affirm. the employee did the transaction then ask me for a code and I said zip code and he said yes and it turned out that it's was a PIN code not zip code. The order goes through anyway but the employee decide to cancel it. Now the return will take 3 to 10 business days for the the refund goes through. I need the refund to go through because now I don't have enough money in my affirm account. The next 4 days Im updating the employee over the phone about the refund process and even told him exactly when the money will be returned to my account and I asked him several times "you will hold that engine for me because my mechanic saw it and liked it." He kept saying "yes we are holding it for you." Finally on the 5 th day I drive one and Half hours away again to purchase the engine. Guess what? They sold the engine they were holding for me. Don't give me heads up "hey we sold the engine and you're gonna have to pick another one. Maybe you may want to bring your mechanic with you to pick one." No I drove 1 and half hours for no reason other than to waste my time and gas for no reason because now my mechanic has to go over the JDM engine depot to select another engine. Horrible experience and it seems like no one cares about customer satisfaction any more. Sad part, the owner most likely don't know how terrible his employees are or he probably doesn't even care. I purchased an engine from them, which turned out to be junk. the 45-65k miles they advertise is a joke, this engine is clapped. Bent intake valve, piston rings seized in the pistons. If I had paid someone to install this engine before disassembling it I would be in a really poor situation. I contact them to discuss the issue and I voided my warranty by disassembling the engine. I think they can do better and have some leeway in situations like this where its clear that the engine had a pre-existing issue. Terrible Customer Service. I bought an engine from the owner directly. After paid for it. I took of work to go get the engine. I told the owner it was a 3 hour drive from my house and I asked if there was someone I could contact incase I get stuck in traffic. He said no and that he was closing at 4pm. The site and the sign outside says they close at 5pm. After the owner took my money he literally was going to let me drive 3 hour and leave. This place is a Scam- They sent a completely seized blown motor-See Photos. They are thieves and liars. Here is our story about these scammers. I went to the BBB and they put a black mark on them but doesn't help much still out the money. They did suggest filing with the NJ Consumer Affairs office. I have done that and am waiting for their response. Someone has to stop these crooks. On 8/7/23 My Son and I purchased a Subaru Outback motor from JDM Engine depot in Bellville NJ for $899 plus $400 shipping, $1299. We received the motor and proceeded to inspect the motor and drain the oil to put fresh oil in, We had the motor on the engine stand and when the oil was drained we turned the motor over to inspect the bottom when we heard all this metal hitting the pan. We took the pan off and you can see in the photos the amount of metal in the engine, it was completely destroyed inside. This motor had nowhere near the 40-60K that they state and it was seized up. I have called them and they were happy to replace it after we pay $400 more to ship it back, now we are up to $1699. Then when they get it back and "inspect it" they will determine if I can pay another $400 for them to send me a replacement, Now we are up to $2099 for an $899 motor. That is $899 for the completely useless motor that didn't even check before they shipped. All they had to do was try to turn it to tell it was seized. The response I got every time was shipping is not covered under warranty. That being said $1200 in shipping is ridiculous. The business hasn't tried to compensate or offer any restitution for the issue. This isn't the first time by reading BBB complaints against them and reviews of them. At what point is this considered a scam. They advertise a 40-60K motor that is tested, neither of those thing are correct. Hi all. I'm a retired ASE Certified Mechanic and I made the mistake of not reading the reviews on this outfit before buying from them. On 10/25/2021 I ordered and engine for a Tacoma SR5 for a total of $2129 with shipping. The engine arrived just a few days later. On first inspection it looked like the motor had been removed from a vehicle that they definitely did not want to replace the motor in. A wreck, a chop shop, who knows. Every wire and hose had been cut from the old vehicle and was still attached to the motor. Even the plenum air tube had been cut. It made my pretty suspect. I transported the motor to another address where it was to be installed. On arrival I put the engine on an engine stand and removed the inspection cover for the timing belt. I attempted to rotate the engine by hand and hit a hard spot. The motor would barely move past that point. I removed the spark plugs and found anti freeze on the number 4 plug. With a scope I looked inside the cylinders and cold see water on both the 2 and 4 cylinders and the #1 cylinder showed signs of water. I called JDM and sent them pictures. Unfortunately I was having difficulty sending videos by email. The first time i called the guy was pretty decent and asked me for the pictures. I called a second time and didn't get the first guy but the second guy said they got the pictures. I called a third time later that day to aske if there was a verdict and got the banker style telephone runaround. Finally someone took a moment to rudely say all correspondence must be done by email. So I made a fresh video of the entire problem starting from scratch. I still could not send it by email so I made a YouTube video and sent the link to them via Email and I posted it on their Facebook Messenger. A day or so later I sent a regular text email to them asking for a replacement engine and explaining that I felt I had been scammed. I have received NO correspondence from them and every call is a bankers runaround. Be warned. Their warrantee pretty much guarantees that you will NOT get an satisfaction from them if there is a problem with any of the stuff they sell. There are too many hoops and firepits to jump through. Too many conditions that have to be met. Their website says their products are inspected and tested. That is a lie. If it were at all true then they would have found the problems with this motor. I actually believe they knew the engine was bad and saw that I was 2000 miles away and couldn't just bring it back to their store. In conclusion, judging from the reviews I've seen here. I bought a K20A03 for my Civic last year. I only used the cylinder head off it. It was definitely cheaper to part out what you need from a JDM than it is to buy the part you need on line. Well, my chain tensioner guide blew up and I had to get another one. I called my buddy Leo at JDM and asked him to pick out a good one for me. He sent me an almost new K20A. I installed it and started on the first crank, no check engine lights. Now I'm not a paid mechanic. I learn most of what I do by watching YouTube videos. If I can do it so can you. I would recommend buying a seal kit. Removing everything and replacing seals. Replace hoses, thermostat, etc. it's not a new engine people! If you want to have it run without issues, you'll have to put some maintenance into it. I would recommend only using the engine, and replace the small stuff. Remember, mark it beforehand. You'll save a lot of time. read more

Just one word "JUNK" plain and simple. They claimed the engine was tested but I can't see how. The engine looked clean on the outside and right under the oil cap. We replaced the rear main seal and crank seal, removed valve covers to change gaskets and that's when things started to look odd. Engine looked as if it had been power washed on the inside of the valve covers. The engine was installed into the vehicle and hooked up. The engine started up and ran really bad. All the time and effort to install a bad motor and knowing no labor or fluids are covered. The seller was nice enough the first time I sent them a text. Then the next time I informed them that the cylinder head on the left side was removed to inspect and found cylinder walls in very poor condition. The other thing I find is the fact the company I purchased the engine from was (jdmenginedep0t). When I first read the name I did not catch the difference in the name spelling. Everything from the logo to the feed back is all made out to (jdmenginedepot) not (jdmenginedep0t) This company which ever one they are set out to take my money and they did just that. Even one star is too much for this company! The only way to describe them accurately are words like dishonest, terrible, thieves, misrepresented, and knowingly ripping people off. I bought an engine off of them on eBay, because they had 100% positive feedback. Well, they must have somebody on the payroll at eBay, because I left them negative feedback and the very same day two other people left them negative feedback and within a week, they had been removed and again showed 100% positive feedback. The engine I bought from them was obviously never tested. It had a horrible tapping sound. Upon further inspection the dipstick was brown and it had obvious remnants of sludge. I called them up to get some type of refund and they lied to me and said they would, but then went back on their word. I should have looked at both their Yelp reviews and their Better Business Bureau reviews. Both of which are in the toilet. Don't EVER get anything from JDM Engine Depot!! As most of you know, several months ago I recieved a faulty engine from them I paid $349 for along with $230 shipping. It was literally the EASIEST check in the world. Stuck a wrench in the side, the engine wouldn't even turn over. Well they wanted a work order, I got it and sent it. They wouldn't respond so I went through PayPal for my refund. I have spent two months waiting for something to happen. They contact me finally and tell me that I have to spend $230 shipping it back to recieve my $579 refund which would really only be a $349 refund. So I literally just LOSE money and get absolutely nothing out of this but heart ache and stress. I contact the seller and they said they won't cover the return shipping even though their SHITTY business didn't make a simple check and sent me a SHITTY engine. Bought a Auto transmission for Honda Accord 2002 LX 2.3 4 cyc. Sept. 27 2019 for $319.88. I came from upstate NY (Chenango Co) to pick it up. After getting the car to mechanic and waiting for him to change it, the 30 days lapsed. I called JDM, spoke with a Leo on Nov. 27 and told him transmission was junk. Would not shift and froze in gear without moving. The Mechanic has 20 years experience doing swaps (Grumpy's in Oxford NY). My boyfriend found a GSR motor that was flawlessly clean on eBay, and begged me to front him the money to buy it since he wouldn't get paid for another week, and he didn't want to miss out on the great deal he found. a purchase that was supposed to only be 1800 turned out being 2400 once they tacked on the freight charges. After a week, he excitedly got his engine, and after inspecting it, the serial number didn't even match their own invoice, and the picture online was of a much better quality than what he received. He contacts them back, and some guy, Will convinces him to get a B16A instead. Reluctantly, my boyfriend agreed, but insisted on pictures because he wanted one that was as clean as the GSR. a week later, nothing. When we call, Will said he already processed it, and gave a ETA of Friday. My boyfriend waited the whole day, and nothing. He called them, and they insisted it was shipped. After 8 hours, we find out that it wasnt even an engine from their company. They CONSIGNED from a third party in TEXAS who shipped out a crappy engine that was broken. Their **PLUG AND PLAY** guaruntee states we shuoldn't have to anything but connect the engine, and it will run. /aside from this, the engine wasn't even processed, and we ended up waiting an extra week to get the piece of crap. Will offered us a $200 credit off our next purchase (FAT CHANCE IN HELL, WITH THE WAY THEY TREATED US THIS TIME AROUND), as well as a refund of our shipping cost, since the package was late due to their error. This was back in April. They gave us the run around for nearly 6 months now, and have yet to refund us the shipping... and no, the engine still doesn't work! They had me do their legwork to get the refund processed. I called their account executive with the shipping company, and was guarunteed that they processed the refund. Do not purchase anything from JDM. Purchased a Lexus RX300 transmission. Certified mechanic noticed metal shavings from torque converter- we didn't even remove from pallet. Immediately called Will and Leo and asked them for a replacement but they refused to exchange the damaged item or send a replacement. They told me I had to pay to ship unit back. I explained that it was not even taken off the pallet and did not find it fair that I pay for shipping, when it arrived damaged, in which they did not care. I emailed and called numerous times for exchange, Will would not help. I filed a complaint with the NJ BBB and will follow up with a compilation NJ Attorney General's Office. Do not purchase from JMD Depot! save your money! Purchase from an more reliable used engine co. I just purchase an 1.8 VVT-I Toyota Motor from them and it was junk! They don't verify operation of the motor just an compression test which doesn't tell you much. The motor you receive was not the same one (pic's) on their site. My motor just look good from the outside, The Certified Mechanic told me your used motor was modified, oversize injectors, different exhaust manifold, intake was cracked. I purchased a mazda 2.3l engine with 40k miles from them. I had a professional mechanic install this engine in my mazda 3 and the motor will not turn over. It rotates 1/3 of a turn and hits metal to metal rotating both forward and back. JDM Engine Depot sold me a D17A Honda 1.7 VTEC shipped to my house was $500 much cheaper than any salvage yard. I'm a certified auto technician have installed many engines in the last 30 years. This engine came as clean as you could ask. I installed a new timing belt and water pump kit just to ensure its reliability the one I removed looked new. The valve cover was removed and engine was inspected. The inside of the engine was as clean as the outside no build up at all. After installation the car was test drove over 40 miles and performed as well as any new engine I've ever installed. This makes the 6th JDM engine and or transmission I've bought and installed all have been very good quality. If you guys could include paper work stating miles by serial number of engine it would help me. I resale these cars. the more documentation the better. I recommend JDM engine depot. read more

So please learn from my mistakes... Here is what happened... Bought a JDM Motor from JDM Engine Depot a 5VZFE 3.4L. Got the engine, my mechanic and I started taking it apart and when the intake came off the backs of the valves were all rusty and covered in what looked like mud. One head was removed and there was a good bit of water and mud like substance in it. Probably from a tsunami. Called JDM Engine Depot and told them. They said the warranty is void because the head was removed. and even if the head was not removed I would have had to pay $500 to ship the bad engine back and to receive another engine. (That was possibly bad as well) I said this engine is obviously bad with mud and water in it it doesn't matter if the head was removed or not. This is obviously wrong not to warranty it. The person I talked to said to bad. I said I am going to tell everyone I possibly can that JDM Engine Depot will not stand behind their engines and not to do business with this company. SO EVERYONE PLEASE LEARN FROM ME! DONT BUY A JDM ENGINE WITH OUT LOOKING IT OVER FIRST! DONT HAVE IT SHIPPED ACROSS THE COUNTRY... AND DONT DO BUSINESS WITH JDM ENGINE DEPOT. don't buy here i bought a transmission for the for a 2000 accord and it came out bad they said i have to swap all the solenoids from my old trans. mine you my old trans was bad to start with. way in the hell would i use any part from a bad trans but i did as i was told. still the trans was no good. they did give me another trans after arguing with them because what they don't tell you about there warranties is that you'll will have to have a certified technician install the trans or it would not be cover under any warranties i happen to be certified by honda and the solenoids on the trans they gave me where broken so i call them again and was told the solenoids are not cover under the warranty so now i have a useless trans had to sell the car as is read more

It started acting up the same night..from that night on until now the engine light never went off. 2nd mechanic I took it to said the engine needed a head gasket(sp?). They (my mechanic) have been calling for the last 2 weeks and were being given the run around. I bought the engine good price or so I thought got charged more than I thought on shipping and I did they doubled what there shipping company was charging the and I know this because it ended up coming collect.
