Waited over an hour for our food which isn't a big deal but it was a slow day for them so it seems kind of overkill. Speaking of overkill,the chef apparently cooks by the motto "when it's smoking it's cooking when it's black it's done". The only thing we got that wasn't blacker than a cast iron skillet was the drinks. And I'm pretty sure those didn't get burnt because we never got a refill. Only time the waitress came around was to drop off what is now our dog food off to our table. Long story short our dogs got an $80 meal and we got McDonald's(at least their food taste better). This location used to be the golden coral and well, it's still the same place just a different vibe. It's a great place to come and watch a game (reason i'm here) and honestly, it was a good time with decent food and friendly on lookers. I'm a Dallas fan and the Cards were playing us and there was tons of smack talk but, nothing that made me or my daughter uncomfortable. Went to JDs with some friends on saturday june 24 and it was AWFUL. The service was horrible. Our waitress was so angry all the time and never smiled and acted like we were such a pain. My friend ordered salad and there was only 3 wilted, nasty pieces of lettuce so he asked for another side and the waitress was so annoyed that we were bothering her. My burger was incredibly soggy, it looked like my burger bun went through the dishwasher. I got a small kids menu of the chicken tenders and those were so dry and burnt you could not eat them. My friend and I did not tip and our waitress looked at us and asked why and we told her why and she rolled her eyes at us and stormed off. I am so disappointed in the food and the service. My friend and I wanted to get a refund but our waitress did not want to deal with us anymore. The music was also blasting, I could not even hear the conversation right next to me. Desperate for something to do, my sister and I ended up at JD's. Formerly a Golden Corral, the owners ditched the franchise and are making a go of it on their own. The first thing I noticed was the bright lights, which stayed bright until about 10pm. They really should dim the lights on the bar side. It completely ruined any atmosphere they were trying to create. Overall I was not digging the decor. The tables and chairs were left over from the GC days and were crowded up against a couple of pool tables. One guy came close to losing an eye to a pool stick. I didn't eat so I can't comment on food quality, but I was less than impressed with the service. During a 2-hour sit at the bar enjoying the sights and sounds of small town karaoke I was spoken to only once, when I first sat down. Seems that after selling me one drink they were good. No need to make any more money off of me. I also noticed that despite the 4-5 servers milling around most everyone came to the bar to flag down another drink. And it appeared that they don't run tabs. Maybe it's just me but if you have a bunch of servers not serving they should be able to handle tabs at the bar. The thing I actually liked was the clientele. People from all walks of life - cowboys, bikers, suits, college kids, preteen girls (nope, that's not a typo) - forming unlikely duets and singing their hearts out on a Saturday night. Though I don't really have anything good to say about my experience, I opted for 3-stars instead of 2 because for Safford I guess it's okay. It's less seedy than any other late night spots. Not much veggies as options for sides (in fact, none even listed) and what kind of steak house doesn't have baked beans or chili? Service was slow, line was long and there was long waits between wait staff coming and visiting us. 3 stars because the steak was really good. I had a 12oz sirloin medium rare which was cooked well, but oh well, it was still good. Bonus? Several hours later and I'm not sick so that's a good sign. Five Stars! We loved this place! I don't understand the other reviews because this place is our new favorite spot in Safford. We made a delivery to nearby Morenci, AZ and the wonderful smell of the grill caught our attention while waiting for the stop light. We decided to hit it up on the way back and we are so glad we did. We got there around 4:00 in the afternoon. The place wasn't busy. They have ample tables (no booths) and 11 televisions showing sports. They have a bar area too and an outdoor patio. We were greeted quickly and chose a seat by the window. During happy hour domestic beers were $2.00 I believe. Our server was very attentive, keeping our drinks full and us happy. Since it was happy hour, I got the potato skins at half price. We got 4 big potato halves with lots of cheese and bacon. Delicious! They have the softest bread here. Wow! They bring it out before your meal. For dinner, my husband got the rib eye with natural cut fries and green beans. The dinner came with a trip to the salad bar too. The steak was fabulous (I had a bite). I ordered the Philly cheese steak (extra cheese) with regular fries. Wowee! The meat was fresh and flavorful. The fries were nice and crispy. We had so much food we took half of it back to Phoenix. During happy hour domestic beers were $2.00 I believe. Our server was very attentive, keeping our drinks full and us happy. Try this place out. Day service is always great. Friendly day crew and fast service. At night expect a little bit of wait, but that is because it is usually busy. As long as Ashley is bar tending the drinks will keep coming, and are always right. Stormie is also another favorite! Servers are mediocre, but starting to see new faces is nice. I came in and didn't have high expectations, but wow. We sat in the dining room where all the tables are so close together, instead of spreading us out from other customers she puts us at a table right in between two other parties, I could literally hit them with my arm if I stretched it out. So we ordered nachos and fries. And my friends food came out before ours and our server had to retake our order cause she never put it in. Needless to say the nachos tasted horrible, old, and cold. I could barely take two bites. Everything was so dirty and I feel like they could be doing so much more to make the atmosphere more enjoyable. Okay... I checked this place out on Yelp, prior to coming. Only three stars. Well, I thought I would take the chance. The place had a lot of TVs. They had the Yankees and red socks on, great choice. The waitress had a cool personality. The salad bar looked fresh and delicious. I ordered the special, chicken fried steak. I have never had it before and thought I would try it. The service was great, she was on it. The food came out and the presentation was nice. The food was delicious. I had the chicken fried steak, fries and vegetables. The plate also came with a side salad. I wanted a lot of salad, but the sign above the salad bar said clearly, "only one trip." It's a sports bar atmosphere- but not super in your face alcohol or anything, just lots of TV's so your husband can watch multiple sports or politics channels at the same time. JDs should have stayed with Golden Coral! I know it's a sports bar and it's going to be loud. It is, mostly with the TV noise. Then every one try's to talk over them. I don't know what was trying to accomplished by the decor. The food, well, Golden Coral was better. Service is very slow especially if you're not drinking alcohol. Come on! If you're going to be a sports bar you need to bring it up a few notches from the barn decor....and I love the country style and this ain't got it, it's all store front. The first time I ever visited this facility I was in town for a school. We were searching for a good place to eat some steak and watch some TV, and came across this restaurant. The staff were extremely professional and the set up was outstanding. It had a great sports bar look. The menu was easy to read and offered some great options. I ordered the 10 inch sirloin steak with vegetables and the baked potato. The whole meal turned out great. Everything was cooked exactly like I wanted it. They even had a salad bar that went with it. The waitress was extremely professional and very helpful. The whole experience and the environment was great. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Food here is excellent, but this is honestly some of the slowest service I've ever seen. I went there and it was fairly deserted, between major meal times (around 3-4 pm). Took about 45 minutes to get the food from the time I ordered, despite being one of only two tables seated at the time. Place was ok, The bar was loud and we sat on the opposite end of the restaurant. The bread they brought out as an appetizer was fairly good. Ordered an 8oz Sirloin with shrimp and for the other party the salmon. The salmon and steak was good ordered it medium rare and it was exactly to order.
