So far I've had a few of their breakfast burritos and their tortas. The breakfast burritos are so big that they're often a breakfast/lunch burrito. Can't go wrong with a carne asada or carnitas burrito. The torta is a traditional Mexican sandwich in a soft loaf of bread (similar consistency to Hawaiian bread). These are an amazing dinner... Again, can't go wrong with a carne asada or carnitas torta. The bread is lightly toasted making the sandwich a great combination of textures and flavors. Keep in mind, they are CASH ONLY. Also, their full menu is available 24/7.

When ordering, I always say no but she always asks, which is fine but this time she didn't. In fact she remembered me and the 2nd item I always get, a cup of carne asada for my dog I always bring with me, which is great on her customer service. I figured she'd remember how I like my burro as well. But my complaint is that the breakfast burros literally tell you on the menu which ones have potato and the steak egg and cheese does not. I ended up getting potato's in my burro. All other people running the register the last 20 years had never done this. I never want them because 3/4 of the burro always ends up as potato. I tried calling just to let them know but no answer hence the review I'd normally never leave. Steak egg and cheese should not have potato's unless requested.

Gone are the pretty, pliable, same as grandma's fresh yummy smelling tortillas that the valley has enjoyed for two decades before things went downhill. Every visit I give them another chance. So what changed? Oh, new owners 5 years ago (maybe more). The same sad story, they change ingredients to save money and result is a disaster. Stores, restaurants and customers drop off. How do I know, the employees shared what's the real story. The 30 day "training" period was completed ignored by the new owners, who btw knew nothing about running a food production business. (It's not empanadas out of your mother-in-law's kitchen) Of course the owners won't admit they ruined a good thing. They don't even spend time there. No personal investment or interest to get it right. But public opinion prevails. My disappointment even goes to the tortilla chips. I've bought them for over 15 years. Used to be awesome. Now, just crap!! It's like gambling, will it be a good batch or stale, stuck together, clumpy salted bag (if salted at all though label says sea salt) of flavorless corn masa. Note to manager, tell employees to STIR the chips as the cook!!! (And start with a good corn tortilla) Last but not least the place got a facelift. New logo and paint job. Trying to be hip I guess but obviously not a trained designer. Who buys food from a grey/black building?? Appetizing, NOT! The logo could be a hair salon or wart ointment. Plain, unimaginative, clip art, nothing that says fresh tortilla factory. The place has all kinds of tortillas and food products. But that doesn't matter if you can't master a simple flour tortilla that was once an incredible product. Sadly all the hype comes from those that don't know the difference. That didn't visit the shop long ago.

I ordered the Carne Asada burrito and it comes plain so I added the pico de gallo for like $.50 which I thought was a great deal. I asked for lemon or lime and they don't have any. Cindy took care of me and she was really sweet so of course I gave her a tip at the register where I ordered. She brought me chips and a salsa. The salsa was not hot at all. It's more of a tomato with a very slight, and I do mean SLIGHT spice/seasoning. There was a seven-year-old little girl sitting on the table behind me and even she said it was not spicy. I wish the burrito meat had been fresh, but mine was old tasting, dry and hard - and definitely needed seasoning. Inside is nice and there's plenty of seating. I think my favorite thing was that the salt shaker was clean. This place stays really busy.

Fast forward to post-COVID, and it's been transformed into something completely different: Fancy Pizzeria, run by a family with a clear passion for what they do, complete with an oven imported from Italy. Anytime someone says Safford needs a Chili's, I cringe... not because I don't like Chili's, but because good help is hard to find in a small town. The owners here seem to understand that, keeping things lean and hands-on with very little hired help. As a result, the service from the husband-and-wife team is genuinely great... though when it gets busy, things can slow down. I've experienced that firsthand, and walked out once a couple years ago after a long wait...but I came back, and I'm glad I did. The food is, simply put, amazing. The pizza has that perfect charred crust you usually only find in bigger cities or on the East Coast. The Italian sodas are excellent. I've yet to try anything, from appetizers to pasta dishes, that didn't hit the mark. Prices are a bit higher than most spots in town, but the quality absolutely justifies it when it's in the budget. I've heard the name "Fancy Pizzeria" was intentional: they wanted to set the expectation that this isn't your typical greasy pizza joint... and they deliver on that, consistently. The dining area has expanded quite a bit recently, and the decor is creative and unique, with many of the dishes and utensils sourced from local thrift shops. All in all, this place stands out in Safford in the best way. I genuinely love everything about it and hope they can continue to operate in the years to come!

I didn't want to sit at the table that she chose and she gladly allowed me to sit wherever I wanted to. I'm not in a rush so I sat over towards the wall where I could see the TV screens. One of the things that I really like is they have condiments at each of the tables, which was convenient.
