Up until today I had taken my dog to Jeana twice. Both times she did a wonderful job and on one occasion identified a medical issue my dog had that had been undiagnosed. Today when I took my dog for an appointment (she had asked me yesterday to change and wanted me to come earlier which was fine) when I walked in, she greeted me with what a horrible morning she had and she did not want to stay another night until 7:30 as she had the night before and how everything had gone wrong.. Sensing the stress she was under, I offered to come back another day giving her the option of having a more spacious day. She said no, and instructed me not to pressure her which I wasn't. I tried to be accommodating by asking her if she had an idea when I should come back as I would go for a walk - and she said "I am not a mind reader - I can't look into the future" in a very angry voice. So I said to her, calmly as I had no time constraints, "I will take the dog for a walk and be back in 15 minutes." When I returned, I had barely gotten in the door when she literally SCREAMED at me, "Get out of my shop. I don't want you in here and I don't want to groom your dog ever again. Just get out right now before I completely lose it with you." To say I was shocked, is an understatement. Needless to say, I left immediately simply saying "I am so sorry." I felt terrible as she had expressed such affection toward my dog and I had previously been so appreciative, tipped her generously and assumed I would return. I found our interaction VERY CONCERNING and worrisome. I see that others have had difficult exchanges as well. She is however an excellent groomer. read more

If you are thinking of taking your pet to Jeana for grooming, please read this review first. I've visited Jeana about three times now, and I had misgivings from the start. At my very first appointment, she told me I needed to bring my puppy in every eight weeks, or she wouldn't see him, and that I couldn't use any other groomer. Since this was my first pet, I wasn't sure if these conditions were typical, but I've since learned they are not standard for groomers. These were my first red flags. I also noticed that she often changed appointments the day before, moving them up or down by a few hours. I was accommodating at first because, as many pet owners in the area know, it can be difficult to get grooming appointments. I put up with her difficult demeanor and demands because I felt she did a good job with my dog. She clearly understands grooming and has been in the business for a long time. However, my last interaction with her ensured that I will never return. Once again, Jeana asked to move my appointment less than 24 hours in advance, from 12:15 to 11:45. I agreed to this change. However, the next day, I arrived about 12 minutes late (11:48). She informed me that I had missed my appointment. I was disappointed, but I understood that I was at fault for being late. I asked if we could reschedule, and she began suggesting new times but also informed me that she would need to charge a $50 cancellation fee. I was taken aback by this. Although I was late, I had arrived earlier than the original time we scheduled. While it's true that I agreed to the new time, I felt I had been flexible with her last-minute changes before, so waiving the fee seemed reasonable. When I asked if she could waive it this one time, she immediately became defensive, saying she was "sorry I didn't value her time as much as a lawyer or doctor." This seemed absurd, as I had already agreed to pay the fee. What really upset me was how she put words in my mouth I never said, suggesting that I didn't think she deserved respect or to be compensated for her time--neither of which I ever implied. It was a bizarre and unnecessarily confrontational response. Needless to say, I canceled all future appointments and will not be returning. I understand the need to protect your time, but when you frequently change clients' appointments last minute, some flexibility should be expected--especially if they have been accommodating in the past. Overall, I was shocked by how belligerent and unreasonable she became. Judging by other reviews, this behavior isn't uncommon. I strongly recommend finding a groomer who is pleasant and respectful to do business with, rather than one who makes the experience stressful and manipulative. read more

Jeana took her time with my old man, making sure he got the "shy cat treatment." If he wasn't going to let her do something, she didn't force it. Awful customer service! Do not go here! After leaving me to wait in the cold for almost half an hour, she insulted the person before me who was a long-time customer and ignored me completely. After he pulled her attention to me, and I told her about having to wait, she screamed at me to leave. Not only does she charge $100s for a doggy haircut, but truly inexcusable behavior. My dog has been a customer of Jeana's since she was a puppy. She has a long coat that Jeana has helped me keep in top shape. I used to take my cat to PetSmart (when they used to groom cats) and they would always complain about my cat and wouldn't do the service right. Jeana other hand did a great job. I started taking my 2 Siberian cats (who have super long fur) to Jeana years ago after one of them kept neurotically licking his fur and getting sick repeatedly with hair balls. Nothing else would work except to get him lion's cuts a few times a year. Jeana and her team have always done a great job. Her cuts are on par with and better than many cats cuts on Pintrest; as one reviewer said she truly is an artist. The only issue I have is that it can be a little difficult to get an appointment at times. it's a local business, so there's no dedicated person to answer the phone, she also books up fast. It's worth it tho! Jeana does a great job on my wiggly kitties, and they come home relaxed like from some kitty spa day! read more

I took my puppy here for his first-ever grooming and it went great! I was nervous like any parent would be but Jeana and the other employee were very sweet and made him and myself feel comfortable. Jeana is an amazing groomer. She always does the perfect cut on my maltipoo every time. I love her new work flow where she has less dogs in the shop and it's more similar to a hairdresser where your dog is there a much shorter time than other groomers. THE worst customer service I have ever experienced. I understand why these people work with dogs all day, as they cannot communicate with people without being rude and obnoxious. They are completely disorganized from setting up an appointment to misplacing the appropriate paperwork (vet records) on file, and then ask you a series of questions that they already should have the answers to if they did their job to check the vet records they have. The owner should be ashamed of her behavior and her business. My dog was clawing to get out of this 'salon' when she was picked up, and she is typically very relaxed. This experience convinced me that my dog would undoubtedly have a better experience down the street at the Laundromutt. Update 7/12-I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Jeana is amazing! I brought my 7 year old Schnoodle (giant schnauzer/poodle) in last week looking like a disaster. My dog has serious separation anxiety and hates getting brushed/groomed. After 2 months of swimming 5 times a week, my baby was a matted mess! Jeana gave me some great advice on how to keep McGee on a better grooming schedule so that visits wouldn't be so traumatic. I intend on taking her advice and continuing to bring my dog here for as long as i can. I can tell that Jeana takes her job very seriously, which is important to me. She is clearly dedicated to the health and emotional well-being of her doggy clients. Best of all, my dog looks fantastic. Seriously, the best haircut she has had in years! I thought they would have to shave her completely to get rid of the matted, knotty hair. And I know from past groomers that she is a real handful. But she looks adorable. It is unbelievable that this nasty place uses, as its name indicates, dirty tools for the dogs. My girlfriend brought her dog here for a "grooming" and he came back home hurt in his ears and legs, she had to pay a fortune in treatment and medicine for him, and they confirmed that the dog got infected from the grooming place, She called the owner, and instead of apologizing she was such a rude AH, and the only thing she did was justifying what can't be justified... I really hope the department of sanity or the animal protection take care of this situations... and for the owner, please try to show some education when people call you in a very nice way to let you know about this situations, again don't be an AH!!! Sincerely, Update; Now she only answers my comment! Great! Let me clarify something, she didn't wait 3 weeks like you are saying just for fun, OBVIOUSLY the dog developed everything after a certain amount of time. You don't need to be an "intelectual" to know that... she didn't call you expecting you to say sorry right away, but yes at least to say sorry after she told you everything, but you cut her words and being so sarcastic you said it wasn't your fault. And yes the Vet said the dog got it from your place for using dirty and not sanitized tools, period! Honestly we should sue you for this, ... I'm incredibly disappointed. After finding this business on Google, I called and had a consult over the phone with JEANA. We spoke a great length for almost 20 minutes about my cat. What's going on with the cat and how we wanted to groom. I couldn't bring the cat in myself so my wife had to. Even though this point was booked for well over a week she had missed booked her appointments. My wife had to sit there for a half hour and wait for her to finish with another cat. When she finished with the other cat, she told my wife we'll see if he'll even let me do this if not, I'm going to charge you $50 as if it's a no call no-show. Mind you she did not say anything about this $50 when I spoke with her for 18 minutes on the phone earlier in the week booking the meeting. She proceeds to "try "to to work with my cat. Call my wife in 10 to 15 minutes later and said we can't do it. I'm charging you $50. This woman is an absolute mess. I wouldn't recommend going to her I'd even recommend going to Petco to groom your animals over working with her. The fact that she even charged $50 for not being able to groom the cat when we were there on time and she had to wait is absolutely ridiculous. This woman is judgmental and overall mentally unstable. She told us to go to our vet and get a set up for the cat as if we would actually get a set of and bring the cat back to this place. No thank you. With the amount of dog groomers and cat groomers in the state of Massachusetts are highly recommended going to them over her. read more

Like another reviewer, I want to be supportive of locally owned businesses, particularly with other dog-lovers. But, I had scheduled an appointment a month in advance (my 3rd visit) knowing that I would be leaving for a work trip soon and wanting my dog groomed before I leave her with a good friend. I receive a text message the night before saying that they needed to reschedule. No problem, I ran a small company myself before and know that sometimes things just come up. I call immediately the next morning to reschedule, and was told that they booted my dog's appointment altogether because I "hadn't been a frequent customer". I had booked 3 appointments in 5 months (and I wash her myself in between). And I was told to reschedule with one of their competitors. That is just rude. No apology, nothing. They gave me less than 24 hours notice, and canceled my appointment because their groomers "walked" out on the job and because I didn't come frequently enough. They should have honored their commitments. They are welcome to let me know afterwards that they would not be able to squeeze me in, in the future. I would not have been offended. Definitely would not recommend. Do as they suggest, and go to one of their competitors. read more

While the quality of the work was good, the attitude was completely offensive. I told the staff upfront that my dog has separation anxiety. I was told to bring him into an area that separated the entryway with a door, and to "say goodbye and leave" through the door. I said that would trigger his separation anxiety, and could they please just walk him in so he didn't see me leave. I was told "I've been doing this for many years, I know what I'm doing" and was again asked to turn and leave. So I did what was asked,, as I'd heard great things about this place. When I went to pick up my dog, I was told to never bring him back again because he barked and it was "scary" and "disturbing" and not good for them or their cats. It finally emerged that he barked only when they turned their backs and left him alone. Well, as I had informed them, he has separation anxiety, that is why he barked. I was lectured on getting proper training as an owner, and that if I could get him trained to "listen to us" and to not bark when asked to not bark, then they'd let him come back again. Obviously they had ZERO knowledge of me as a person or an owner, or my responsible history of training, and made insulting assumptions about me, as well as the reason for my dog's barking. I also told them that my dog has food allergies and to not give him any treats, and left them with his kibble if they needed to treat him, and on the way out I had to stop them from giving him their chicken treats (which he is allergic to), so I really hope they didn't feed him those treats during the four hours he was there, because if that is the case then he is going to be extremely sick tonight. I found the attitude here to be elitist and offensive, and insulting, and ignorant -- and, as a friend of mine has accurately labeled it all, disgusting. I was also charged $10 more than I was told would be the fee. Don't go here unless you want to be verbally abused. Edited: After writing this review I found out from my local vet clinic that this groomer has been put on a "do not go there" list after many clients had to go into the clinic on emergency after their dogs were accidentally nicked and injured here. I consider myself very fortunate that that didn't happen to my dog, but this is another reason to avoid this place at all costs. They should be put out of business. read more

Back in December I spoke with Gina about my dog who can be very temperamental, she told me "under no circumstances, to have my vet clip my dog's nails." She said that it takes time and trust, and she has been doing this for years. She clipped my dog's nails and everything was fine. Fast forward to May 18, I dropped off both my dogs to her, within five minutes she calls me to say she can't do him. I go back to pick up both of my dogs, where outside in front of another client she proceeds to scold me, and says in front of the other client, "my dog is possessed I am going to get a lot of bills due to his aggressive behavior." She further proceeded to say that she is old and she can't risk being out of work" When I reminded her of what she had said back in December, her reply was. "He should have come in a few times prior so she could earn his trust, 'I apologize if I didn't tell you, I was interviewing groomers.'" This woman lacks any professionalism and she knew ahead of time about my dog. He was adopted and I don't know if he had any previous trauma. If she simply stated he was uncooperative, that would have been fine, her pontificating about how bad my dog was, was not called for, when she specifically said she could work with him, and did." Unfortunately, after taking my cat here for a year and a half, I was forced to sever my relationship with Jeana and her grooming establishment. Although she is an experienced groomer and she does good work, she is defensive, argumentative, and unreasonable. Emotionally unstable would be the correct term. Emotionally dysregulated? She also engages in questionable grooming practices with cats, such as grabbing them and holding them up in the air by the scruff of their necks and placing a plastic "globe" around the cat's head to "calm" them, even though I believe this traumatized my cat. She is very rough with the cats, in my observations. She also charges A LOT more money than other suitable groomers... $175 per session, for only a bath and brush out, nail trim, sanitary shave.... And, she started only grooming my cat part way, and then asking me to bring him back a second time, then asking me to PAY a second time. Nope! I refused, and she called me a negligent cat owner. Yes, there is a "Jeana" at Jeana's Dirty Dog, and she's awesome. I have two mongrel-like creatures who seem to locate the nearest swamp within seconds (I didn't even train them to do that), and Jeana and company handle them with aplomb - even if the bigger of the two gets cranky about being there. Jeana has been dealing with my various canine companions for about 10 years. (Good lord, is that possible??) The grooming is perfect every time, and the shampoos are not foofy or smelly...your dog comes back smelling like a dog (albeit a clean, groomed dog). Best part of the deal? You get freedom from Man's Best Friends for a whole day... (insert sigh of relief here). read more

Really wanted to support this local business, but I should have read the reviews on Yelp first. Customer service absolutely the worst I had ever experienced. After dropping off my dog as soon as the place opened, I called asking whether they would be ready by early afternoon. All my dog was getting was a bath, according to JDDS. However, JDDS on the phone says my dog won't be ready until 3PM. I understand they are busy, so I say, "Okay thank you," ready to hang up. JDDS needs to get in the final word, so she replies, "Get your appointment straight next time," before slamming the phone down. read more

Jeana is awesome! I foster dogs for a local rescue and she has been kind enough to donate a grooming for my foster dog. He was not an easy customer in the least but she handled him beautifully. Now, because of Jeana I can advertise a handsome freshly groomed dog instead of the scraggly one who had never been groomed! He looks great, smells great, and most importantly, feels great. She also took the time to help me understand his issues and needs and gave me advice on the type of family I should look for for him. There are a few negative reviews of Jeana on here which I disagree with. In my experience she is the most talented groomer I have ever taken a dog too, not only on the cutting side, but in the way she handles the dogs. If you have a nervous or skittish dog you should take them to her, she makes them comfortable and not stressed. I think Jeana is a dog person and that is her priority (she does groom cats too). For the negative reviewers, she focuses on what is important (the animals) and sometimes may not have time to cater to the people who own them. After a really bad dog-beard experience with a chain store's "groomer" (parenthesized since I really think the "groomer" was in fact a carnie), I was desperate to find an independent groomer close to my house. I am completely 100% satisfied with my two dogs' outcomes. They look fabulous, smell great, and seemed to have a really good time at Jeana's because they were able to socialize with other dogs. I guess I can understand the unhappy yelper's low rating due to an unfortunate accident, but it sounds like it was an accident and nothing more. I think Jeana's pretty darn cool, and other yelpers shouldn't be scared off because of what sounds like a one-time occurrence. Let me put it to you this way: My dogs HATE getting groomed, and they high-tail it out of any place where their hair gets brushed. At Jeana's, they wanted to stay, and I had to pull them out of the door. I think my dogs are happy that we've booked their appointments out 3 months in advance. read more

Love Jeana'a Salon for my dogs. My dogs are well taken care of there and they always come out so beautiful. The staff is kind and caring, you can tell they really enjoy the dogs. Love the fact the dogs are not caged or crated at Jeana's. I have to say since going to Jeana's I always get asked who grooms your dogs, I say Jeana's and people actually say oh yes we can tell Jeana's groomed your dogs, and how beautiful both my dogs look. Jeana is the BEST. She had been taking care of my dogs (American Eskimos) for about 13 years. My first two, male and female (died five years ago at ages 15 and 12 respectively) were quite a hand ful, especially the male, but Jeanna was just great with them. I now have a four year old male whom she has been grooming all four years and Max loves and respects Jeana. She has been in the business for many years and really knows how to deal with dogs of any temperament and does a first rate job of grooming. As for price, Jeana is very reasonable and being someone in the personal care industry myself some people just cannot sink their teeth (no pun intended) into the fact that skilled professionals who are focused on doing the best job possible deserve the respect for whatever they charge. I really appreciate this small business, a woman-owned grooming shop. The price is no different to the box stores but the quality is superior; kind of feels like you're walking into someone's kitchen ... but with a bunch of friendly dogs walking around. I have a dog, Barley, who is fearful of nail clipping and now becomes aggressive in grooming, apparently after some bad experiences at PetSmart. Jeana offered some insight as to why the fear is so great (the nail grinding can make a nail hot and burn the quick, if not done right) and made a plan with me to slowly build trust with Barley, advising me that it could take an unknown # of visits. The strategy was reasonable. Barley has to be muzzled, but on the second visit I brought shredded chicken, gave Barley some treat before the muzzle, then Jeana took over the treat offerings and gave rewards appropriate to Barley's level of restraint. Jeana was also able to advise on my own body language with the dog, which wasn't helping the situation, and made suggestions about when it was best I step back and let her work one-to-one with Barley. One nail was left not trimmed much because Jeana felt that Barley had had enough stress, and she didn't want to blow the trust-building with a clipped quick. I had to agree. We'll go back for a 3rd visit tomorrow; I'll bring cooked meat and let Jeana take over on the trust building, and hope for a day when Li'l B stops snapping at people trying to help her. read more
