All of the…read moreinstructors I had have been incredible, and they make sure that every session has a good instructor to student ratio (the most I've had was 4 students per instructor). They also only offer boat dives as shore diving can turn off a lot of people to diving as it's so hard for beginners. Due to weather, my scheduled dive got cancelled, and I was worried that I would not be able to get certified before a vacation where I was planning to dive. Keline and Harry were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure that I could go on my final dive to get my license. Will definitely be coming back for future scuba trips with them or if I decide to pursue a different certification

I signed up hearing great things and it's all true…read more Despite having scuba training, I had trouble equalizing my ears for dives and worried I wouldn't be able to pass the checkboxes needed to get the certification. Lance let me work with him during part of the lunch break in the open ocean water and I chipped away at it under his coaching. He related to my competitive nature and helped me focus by relaxing (almost like you get better by trying less, if that makes sense in diving). In the last hour of the day, I finally passed and he gave me a high-five/hug in the water for getting it. I still have to work at getting better, but he was so tremendous in learning the skillset and I'd be rooting for him to break the next freediving records!

After watching a five-minute tutorial video, we were all set with our gear and headed off to a relaxing morning. Be mindful that there is no real lifeguard on duty, so pair up with people who have swimming skills! Also, the marina is open to boats sailing through. Make sure you are not in their way as my friend and I almost made this mistake. After an hour of cruising through we were a bit fatigued and ended our morning here. I would definitely recommend Marina Aquatic Center if you are looking for a new sport to pick up and stay healthy on the weekends - they offer paddleboarding, boating, and rafting, too!

I found this guy promoting his services on the message board in response to another person asking about Scuba, and he even wrote a review of his company. I was stoked, because he seemed pretty cool and down to earth as far as philosophy and teaching methods. However, I sent an email (via yelp) AND left two voicemail messages, and NEVER got any acknowledgement or response... I even stated my time-crunch situation in my 2nd voicemail. NADA So technically I am not reviewing the company's scuba training services, but given the lack of response, I have to give them just 1 star. Sorry buddy. I went to Haven's Reef. Whenever we have family or friends visiting from out of state or overseas, it's one of our favorite activities because it's a relaxing way to see the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary, and, if you're lucky, the sea lions. We brought another group yesterday, and everyone enjoyed the tour. The only downside, in my opinion, is the boats used for the harbor tour. Yesterday we were on the Kristina, and in the past we've also been on the Caroline, which we chartered for my mother's ash-scattering ceremony about 14 years ago. Both vessels are showing their age. I also think the marketing could be clearer. The photos on the website and many travel sites prominently feature the newer catamarans, which gives the impression that those are the boats used for the harbor tour. I actually called ahead to ask and learned that the harbor tours use different vessels. While I appreciated getting the correct information, many first-time visitors probably wouldn't think to ask and may expect the newer boats shown in the advertising. The harbor tour itself is still worthwhile, and we'll likely continue bringing our guests because we genuinely enjoy the experience. I just hope Harbor Breeze considers updating or refurbishing the harbor tour vessels and making the marketing a little clearer so guests know exactly what to expect.
