I had the student insurance and it covered all of my visits for things like strep throat and colds. I got my iud done by the best doctor and was able to receive anesthetic for the procedure, and that was all covered and easy to schedule about two weeks later. I highly recommend getting STI tested here as well, results come quickly and it is so convenient to stop by after class!

Title: Mixed Experience…read more My experiences at the USC Health Center have been a mixed bag, with stark differences between the treatment of physical health issues and mental health concerns. I highly recommend this facility for common, easily treatable physical illnesses like UID, flu, and COVID. The service is fast and efficient. However, my recent interactions with Mental Health Services have left much to be desired. While Dr. Y.P., whom I regularly saw before, was compassionate and wise, my recent experience with a young psychology student named T.A. was less than satisfactory. During my session with T.A., I sought to discuss recent stressors in my life. She started by asking if I had ever thought of killing myself or someone recently. I shared an incident where I was threatened with a gun by a stranger, and I reported it to the police. Luckily he didn't stop me; otherwise, I was planning to kill him to save my life. Unfortunately, T.A. misinterpreted my response, she took it out of context. She said 1 sec and retold this story to licensed psychologists at the center. Then they interrogated me about it for 1.5 hrs. I understand the need for caution in mental health evaluations, but the 1.5-hour interrogation left me feeling like a potential threat rather than a patient seeking help. Plus, it was a waste of time for everyone. It seemed the primary concern was liability rather than genuine care for my well-being. If a student comes to the center and then commits a crime, their psychologist will be held accountable. So their primary concern is to save their career, not being helpful to the students. I assume that since T.A. is a student, she was told to report anything that she might find concerning. So, she was extra cautious. I also believe that if I had talked to someone experienced, someone with common sense, I would have had a totally different experience. I don't know if my racial background was an issue, but I chose not to think that way. I believe she was just inexperienced, and young and she couldn't decide what's important and what's not. I urge others to be cautious when interacting with students or less experienced staff in mental health services at USC. Avoid T.A. or students in general. While my experience with Dr. Y.P. was positive, the same cannot be said for interactions with T.A. It's disheartening to feel like a potential threat rather than a human needing support.

I…read morewould say, the best thing about this facility is the fact that they are pretty good about responding to the call lights when you push your lights to get someone to come ib this facility is mostly shared rooms, there were a couple people with single rooms. Patients do have to use shared locker room style showers. I don't know the situation of the shower rooms, while I was there, I elected to opt out of that psychological torture, and just make do with bed bathing myself. I was in a single room with an attached powder room. The room was quite small and the powder room was tiny, almost what you would expect on a typical commercial aircraft. My room had a sliding door onto the patio, which I did not get to make much use of due to the hefty amount of chain smoking that goes on all throughout the Day day. B patients are permitted to smoke cigarettes inside the internal patio. Plus, there were no nice furniture anyways such as outdoor sofas or anything like that. For food, they did not have much on offer at all in terms of fresh fruit and veg, but the entrées themselves what they did serve was pretty good and they did have some decent add-ons like quesadillas and egg salad sandwiches. B they have a beautician who comes about every five weeks to trim peoples hair. That went OK for me, they cut exactly how I wanted. B they do have the typical nursing home types of activities such as, board, games, coloring books, etc. B they do have coffee and cookies available all throughout the day, so you can at least ask for coffees throughout the day. B a lot of facilities only give coffee/milk at the meal times. They do provide flushable wipes and disinfecting wipes, as well as pull-ups if you need them. V there are no phones in the rooms, they do have cordless phones that you can ask to use or someone can call you and they will bring the phone to you. B the linens are hit and miss, the typical hodgepodge of miss matched sheets that are washed with no softener whatsoever. They do not offer any kind of quality, laundry, care for personal apparel, if you want them to do your laundry, you have to write your name somewhere in the garments and then they throw everything together with hot water and a nasty detergent, no fragrance no softener, and then transfer it to the dryer where everything is Dried on the high for the same amount of time so if you give them something small, like underwear or something delicate out of chiffon, it's going to be dried to a crisp along with all the heavy cottons that need a whole hour, on high, and with no softener. They do not offer any ironing/pressing. When I was there, they started storing extra supplies in the closet in my room. They can offer transportation to doctors appointments. This is not an area that has much in terms of entertainment in walking distance. B the odor in the facility was more under control than some places I've been, but it didn't smell too sweet though either.

On my initial visit the front desk staff checked me in quickly and provided the required paperwork. The facility and examination rooms are clean, modern and up to date. I was seen on time by a very professional medical staff and I was impressed by each and every person I interacted with. It was a pleasure to be taken care of in such a professional manner and I highly recommend this medical group.

Both my…read morehusband and I are medical professionals ourselves so we try to be as low maintenance as possible being we know how busy it can get. So was very disappointed when simple, basic standards of care were not met on several occasions by his rude office staff. 9 out of 10 times you will be placed on hold when calling, not even a friendly voice asking if they can put you on hold, just sound of someone picking up and then sending you to hold music. Was literally on hold for 23 minutes with no live person attempting to check in. Another issue was labs, bloodwork. They will always try to get you to have them drawn in office to make more money and convenient for them. If you draw outside at different lab due to your ins, then you can forget about getting the results from them. I had to keep calling week after week to remind and follow up. Never did I get call back from Dr, instead they made me make an appointment to come in and see the doctor after weeks of waiting just to tell me that all was normal?! Then on separate visit I waited over an hour to be called Back in when I had an appointment. Never made a fuss, understood things happen. What's not right is the double standard when I was a little late to my appointment due to an emergency. Was nowhere near an hour late like they've kept me waiting on numerous occasions. Yet they will automatically turn you away if you're 16 min late and reschedule you 3 weeks away. No empathy shown, no medical questions asked to see why you even need to see the Dr, or what it took for the patient to get there. Asked if the Dr or NP can see in between other patients or wait to see if someone didn't show, and even that wasn't allowed. The receptionist refused to even ask or relay message to Dr. Stated they were "busy" and started offering dates minimum 3 weeks away! Have never witnessed such callous actions from a medical office. Basic, simple standards of care we should expect from our providers are; -getting thru to a live person without first being on hold for 22 minutes -a Dr who cares, remembers you and follows up on your lab work instead of you having to chase down results yourself. - Being able to leave a message for your doctor and get a call back. -an office staff that treats you like a patient vs a number or inconvenience. Really wanted to like this place and Dr, but the negative experiences have much outweighed any positives. Not that they care, but my husband and I will be looking for new provider. As medical professionals we DO NOT recommend this place.

This is my first review ever...and I'm sad that its a negative one. But hopefully it will save some…read moresouls. I am actually not sure that this is a real medical clinic. I would assume that there are certain standards to adhere to in order to use that title. Now, I want to point out that I do not have unrealistic, super high expectations. I have been to the free clinic in Hollywood, where many homeless individuals go, and it's far nicer than this place. I was excited to finally get my medical insurance through Covered California. I got Anthem Blue Cross - whom I am currently on the phone, on hold with, in order to change my primary care physician (27min and counting). I first called Dr Coting's office a couple of days ago to make an appointment. The lady who answered was not very friendly. She told me they do walk-ins only. She said they open at 10am. At 10 they opened, but the girl told me that the doctor usually does not come in until around 11:30. I signed in and then went for a walk and some tea in the near by Echo Park. Really beautiful park by the way!! Wow I was impressed! I got back at 11:30 and they told me the doctor was not in yet. I picked the least filthy chair. I waited. I wondered who would paint graffiti on a trash can in a doctors office. Or maybe they found it outside on the street? Jerry Springer on the ancient TV seemed appropriate. I waited. I noticed that they still had 4th of July decorations up, I guess there is no point taking them down when it's almost that time again! At least its not super packed in here I thought. Eventually a nurse called me in. She took my weight and height. Then she directed me into a small room. I was taken aback by what I saw. In this tiny room was a filthy brown examination table with writing and scribbles all over it. I couldn't even believe it. (See pictures!). The nurse asked me some general questions. "When was your last menstrual period?" I said about two weeks ago. (Its May 12th) She said "So May 7th?" I said "Sure that's fine". She then asked me why I was there, I told her it was for my acne problems. She asked me a couple more times. And then she asked me how to spell acne. She struggled to take my blood pressure. Didn't seem very experienced. I was sent back to the waiting area. The doc eventually rolled in at about 12:10. He was friendly enough, but did not seem thrilled to be there. He didn't really look at my acne. He did check my throat though, with one of them wooden spatula thingies! And then he threw it on the floor next to the closed trash can!! I almost laughed. He didn't bother to pick it up of course. He also had some nasty stains on his white robe. He is referring me to a dermatologist, which may or may not be approved, I guess we'll see! Oh and also they do not take cards, only cash, another reason I'm not sure if it's a real business?? Anyways, point of the story, don't go here. Thant's all. ;)
