I had a very nice experience here. The location is great, up on a higher hill, the community is more secluded and quiet, well kept, clean, helpful staff. A big shout out to Bryce, he's a super sweet guy and very helpful. When you meet people who are just trying to do their job and at the same time are all smiles, it truly makes the day better. Shout-Out to Tina & Ramiro -- We want to recognize Tina and Ramiro for going above and beyond this past week. A few months ago, we moved into a renovated unit at Jefferson--which has been a great decision. This week we experienced a plumbing backup after hours in our laundry area and Tina also discovered a crack in our washing machine. Within minutes, our laundry closet, entryway flooring, and new area rugs were soaked. Despite the 7pm hour, Tina responded to our maintenance call quickly and arrived within the hour. She brought a commercial fan right away and began drying and disinfecting the floors, helping to prevent potential mold--something we truly appreciated. Over the next few days, Tina and Ramiro handled everything with professionalism and care. Tina replaced the washer within 48 hours, coordinated repairs efficiently, and regularly checked on the fan and dehumidifier until the floors were completely dry. Their attention to detail really stood out. Without us even asking, they replaced and repainted some poorly installed baseboards located behind the washing machine from the original renovation crew. With Jefferson's maintenance team no detail goes overlooked. They managed moving large appliances in and out of our unit with ease--always upbeat and working seamlessly as a team. Office team always responds to my inquiries in a timely manner. I would give it 4/5 due to the sound that travels from floor to floor. Specifically reviewing maintenance - Jose and Tina have been very helpful over the years and generally pretty fast at responding to tickets. A rusted out disposal unit was replaced within a day. The drain lines occasionally clogged because of other tenants and they were quick to come out and fix. HVAC issues they did their best to help and tried to get the contractors out as quickly as possible for more complicated problems. There's a lot of units and the maintenance staff seems to always have their hands full. read more

Agree with posts about greed and less than ethical practices. The apartment itself was lovely, it's in a great location, clean, the complex is very nice. But really don't have much else nice to say. Toured a two bedroom apartment, the leasing agent who accompanied me - Dani, she seemed nice, but not very knowledgeable. She said very early on that she was relatively new to the position which became pretty obvious over the next few encounters. We applied that day, and immediately there were issues. The application itself glitched or had issues EVERY SINGLE STEP of the way. It was obnoxious. We were in very frequent communication with them because the system was such a pain. My s/o had issues at one point with submitting his ID. he sent them multiple pictures over the course of about 2 days, until finally it worked. At the time we applied, we were told the expectations for income were 3 times the rent, and 4 times the rent for a guarantor. However, this changed multiple times throughout our communications with them. We submitted our income, and Dani said that because the ending balances, NOT OUR INCOME, the ending balances were not equal to 8200, that we didn't meet the income qualifications. Her exact words " How we figure this out is we take the ending balance of the account and add the 3 months together and divide it by 3 to give an average balance. We then take that balance and divide by 12 to achieve your monthly income." Just absolutely bizarre. I called Dani and asked her to explain her numbers to me. According to her email, we needed to prove an ending balance of 8200 for the last three months. Again- not income. Ending balances. 8200 multiplied by 3 and divided by 12 was 2050, $ 1200 from the actual rent and not sure how they quantify it as proof of income. I told her we had previous experience with Greystar and never encountered issues like this. In fact, it was a huge reason why we applied. She basically said that even though they are managed by greystar, they are owned privately, stating that they have different rules, which I've yet to speak to Greystar about. I'm curious if they know these practices are going on. She was completely unable to explain the bizarre equation for the 8200 though, lol and transferred me to the assistant manager even though I was supposed to have spoken to the actual manager earlier that day. The assistant manager, Shelby, who spoke to me said they have specific rules for bank statements, and wrote me a very long email about these policies, and additionally their bizarre math. This ALSO contradicted what was previously said to us. This was what she wrote - " Rent = $3271 $3271 x 2.5 = $8177.50 $8177.50 x 12 months = $98,130 needs to be the ending balance for the account over the 3 months. Insanity. So now it's 2.5 instead of 3??? Even though I was told twice by Dani via email and voicemail it's 3 times, and new rule, 100,000 ending for past over months? What? Out of curiosity, I asked her about the possibility of a Guarantor. To this she said "Pay Stubs $3271 x 4 = $13,084 per month (gross income) Bank Statements $3271 x 4 = $13,084 $13,084 x 12 = $157,008 )ending balance for 3 months)" At this point, I decided to get a lawyers input. My lawyer advised me against pursuing the apartment any further and avoid any business with them at all. His words exactly, "Look at how they are treating you and you don't even live there. Imagine how it would be if you lived there." I strongly believe and have evidence to support they violated the fair housing act, and will be taking steps to address what happened. They changed the requirements several times in what they communicated to us over the phone, over voicemails, via emails, and even what is stated in the application itself. Companies are NOT allowed change requirements or policies based on specific people or situations. It's considered discrimination. Pretty nasty and horrific experience, it was deeply distressing, and absolutely dehumanizing. read more

Tina(maintenance) has to be one of the friendliest and hardest worker I have ever met. Any issues I had were promptly fixed. My move out was easy. Scheduled a time to see the complex in person drove 45 minutes (ONE WAY) out of my way to my appointment to be told the apartments I'm looking at are all over $2900/mo. Looks like they're adding $400-$500/mo to their monthly rates without a single care about telling anyone about it. Jefferson at Carmel Mountain Ranch is practicing BAIT AND SWITCH practices. I do not advise anyone to waste your time as they do not abide by who they advertise. When I asked why this has happened they claim it was a simple mistake on their end - a mistake they didn't care whatsoever to update me with before wasting expensive gas money to get down here. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE - A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME - VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE! read more

TL;DR Not the worst place in San Diego, but find somewhere else. Jefferson has a lot of things going for it. The location is unbeatable! The neighborhood is attractive. Lisa at the front is the best employee they have. They also have a lot of other employees that are pretty solid, overall. That is about all there is for the positives. The buildings themselves are incredibly old, and there are a lot of problems. The walls and ceilings are constantly cracking and shifting, they seem to hire some of the worst people to install carpet. Our carpet started coming up within a week of us living there. When we asked them to fix it, they just stapled down the destroyed carpet. Constantly stepped on stables that were holding in the carpet. A few spots they skipped adding transition strips from the carpet. The vinyl "wood" flooring was also put in extremely half-assed. gaps between the "boards", bubbling. Our toilet when we moved in was not sealed to the floor at all. I could literally pick it up from the ground. Their fix was to calk it with silicone, but they calked it at an angle. So when you sit on the toilet, you are leaning. The buildings also seem to have a lot of electrical problems and weird wiring. We lived in this place for a year and a half, and had to replace the kitchen light, ourselves mind you, about 6 times. One of the lights was starting to go out again right when we moved out. For some reason there is a power switch toward the ceiling of the bathroom that cuts power to the thermostat... Alright? Power outlets and plugs falling off, loose, or broken. There also seems to be phantom power drawl. Our electric bills were massive. Just regular appliance use, and 2-3 days of a couple hours of AC, the power bill would be $200+. Power is being wasted somewhere, and it comes out of our pockets. When we moved in, they did a terrible job at making the place ready for us. It was still very dirty, spider webs everywhere, there was a bulb out in the living room and kitchen day one, that took them literal months to fix. Holes, scratches, gashes, vinyl coming up, broken hinges, pieces of the ceiling fans hanging, paint missing from walls, dust everywhere. There were holes in the screens of the windows. One thing that got very irritating is that they continued to use COVID as an excuse to not fix things. We had several large requests to fix all of the broken things in our apartment, and we would put them in well in advanced of us leaving town for several days. We would get emails back stating they couldn't fix something due to COVID (despite us not being home for a week+). But then, after complaining enough, they would then show up a week later, while we were home. It made no sense. The facility itself had a ton of issues as well. The dog park was a huge selling feature of this place. It's unusable. There is constant muddy smeared poops everywhere. It wreaks and you have no choice but to step in something going in. The dog bath they have only shoots freezing cold water. My dog would literally scream from how cold it was. There were several instances of the parking lot overhangs collapsing. Not sure if cars were damaged, but this happened several times in the year and a half I lived here. The facilities were largely unusable for a lot of the time living here "due to covid". Even the outdoor facilities. But when they finally became available, they all had problems as well. Only one of the three barbeques worked the entire time living there. They decided to get the pool resurfaced, putting the pool out of order for weeks/months, right after covid restrictions lifted. Couldn't do that during the year everything was closed? Same thing with the spa. The heater didn't work, and it took them until after covid restrictions lifted to fix it. Everything just looks and feels old. The building needs a coat of paint. Some of the stairs seem loose. The common areas are always dirty, trash everywhere, dog poop everywhere. Let's talk about the surrounding residents. Most of the people living here seem like great people. Had a few issues with some. One dude parked in my parking spot. I left a note on his car to please move or they would get towed. They left. Crisis averted. Until he came back and then parked in it again an hour later. Getting the tow company to do anything about it was the worst process ever. The issue I saw a ton was people not picking up their dogs. One other weird thing is someone stole the cover on my motorcycle. It was like 20 bucks on amazon, so not sure why, but ok. It is also a very noisy community. Walls are thin, and between the surprising amount of semi-trucks, UPS trucks, Amazon trucks, the people who slam their doors shut shaking the entire complex, the parties at the pool, all kinds of stuff. Even with all windows closed, it's hard to work from home. I have more to say, but yelp is cutting me off. Do yourself a favor and find something else near by. There is plenty. read more

Just an update because I really feel like people are being mislead by considering even living here. LISTEN UP, we have been out almost 2 weeks and the vast different between here and our new place is incredible. It's HORRIBLE at Jefferson. Never is there any peace and the leasing office is just awful nor do they care if you have an issue. They are cold and lack the ability to do their work. It's always loud, we had the alarm system go off a few times without any reason, couple times were at 12AM and it's so loud it's piercing, we ran out of hot water a couple times without any warning or notice. OH and don't think about getting any deposit back once you move out. They rob you. It's absolutely the worse place I've ever lived. Look elsewhere. read more

Where do I begin? The poop in a public pool? Letting it float there for HOURS (don't worry, they'll say it's a disabled child even though the logs were grown man sized)? Oh but they followed the Cali cleaning code that it only has to be poop free for 1.5 days (btw I don't think that Cali cleaning code is super strict given the amount of human feces I used to see on sidewalks there). Prior to this, a resident threatened to stab myself and my dog, waved a KNIFE while doing so, and management said "lol sorry, can't help". Wouldn't even provide a name for my police report. For a resident that always paid rent early/on time, don't worry, they'll treat you lower than the knife wielders. I then had the pleasure of encountering this man numerous times after the incident (great safety at this place I must say, a single female living alone and a huge adult man knowing EXACTLY which apartment I lived in). Or should the 0 star review come from the fact they'll charge you egregious amounts for carpet that they expect to last 5 YEARS in an apartment (where the square footage is minimal, yet somehow this must be the world's finest beige carpet). Better pack your chain saw as they expect you to "breakdown" furniture even when it's placed within the trash collection area not blocking access. But don't worry, there's more! They'll have construction which gets delayed for weeks, they'll have numerous "inspections" where they have to come into your apartment (nearly 1-2x a month), the trash valet (which you HAVE to pay 20 dollars a month for) are the laziest people you'll see, refusing to even pick up a shoe box next to your can, and you pay for a "package delivery service" where numerous companies never deliver too (oh and people will open your packages after they're left on your doorstep). That nickel and diming takes your rent to a measly almost 3k for a 1 bedroom cheap piece of crap. Oh did I mention you have to make over 8,000 dollars a month to qualify to live in this "luxurious" complex, laughable when probably 0% of their staff can even afford to live there. Wouldn't mind paying that almost 3k if I had some security, less dog poo covering the grounds, and services I am forced to pay for actually work. Believe all of the negative reviews of this place and note how the positive ones come from people who haven't had the joy of dealing with this place at move out. I came into this complex already knowing California is the land of overcharging and piss-poor attitudes, boy did this place prove me right. We had a very short 2 month stay at Jefferson while we awaited our new home. We chose Jefferson because we have a large dog and wanted a place that accepted him, as well as allowed a short lease. We were always kept in the know throughout the leasing process, and honestly had the greatest experience with the staff. Shout out to George and Lisa for always being so thorough and personable. Also, her name escapes me, but to the maintenance staff member who always stopped to chat and visit with dogs, THANK YOU. You made even the shortest of stays feel like home. My only "complaints" would be lack of elevators lol. We were on the third story and I have a one year old the size of your average 4 year old. Every errand was a mission lugging him and groceries etc. We didn't move in any furniture (only an inflatable bed) because the work of stairs just did not seem worth it for our temporary stay. LOVED the in unit washer and dryer, I have no idea how I would have managed laundry otherwise. There are also some gnarly hills within the complex so potential residents be advised if you need extra parking, usually there is a hike involved. The surrounding neighborhood is also hilly but makes for a lovely morning walk to earn your coffee or breakfast burrito ;) The dog park was amazing. A great perk of where our apartment was. However, I wish more people picked up after their pet consistently. Not any fault of Jefferson, but something to keep in mind if your pup is clumsy and airheaded enough to prance in crap like ours. Also, there are a few residents who like to smoke in the back corner by the dog park, so it made open windows impossible for our unit, and some park visits uncomfortable... just something to keep in mind if that sort of thing bothers you. We only got to use the pool once given covid closures and it just not fitting in our schedule. It was so nice and clean. Very peaceful even on a summer day during "lockdown." My son and I were the only ones there. All in all, so eternally grateful for our stay at Jefferson. We have definitely referred some friends that way for future leasing. read more

Most reviewers are usually who either love or hate a certain establishments based on their own experiences and biases, but not this one. This review is just from an average guy who doesn't particularly love or hate anything about the apartments to an extreme extent, but feels obligated leave a review to offer more insight into the Jefferson At Carmel Mountain Apartments. I first heard of this place through Zillow, and similar to what you are doing right now, I combed through every single Yelp review to make sure that this was an apartment worth my time. Now a month later, I'm happy to say that I made the right choice! From touring the apartment, to signing the lease and finally move-in, everything was handled extremely meticulously and professionally. As somebody who used to work in apartment management, I was impressed with the amount of work that Shelby and Lisa put into helping make the transition as smooth as possibly! The welcome gift and coupons to local businesses were a nice touch as well :) The apartment itself was fantastic! The reason why I was particularly drawn to the Jefferson were the high ceilings! (something between 9-10 ft tall I feel like) and the overall spacious feel of the layouts. The rooms were cleaned very well and amenities were replaced and brand new! The shower pressure is a bit low, but once you get used to it, there's nothing bad about it (it's designed to conserve water and save you money!). Management is very responsive as well! We noticed that our washing machine was leaking and they ordered us a brand new one which arrived in just a few days! They also perform periodic maintenance and trash gets cleaned regularly. The only con I found to living here is that you only get one parking spot for a 2bd apartment, but there is plenty of street parking available. The walls are not very soundproof either so you can easily hear your neighbors next door arguing or footsteps above if you have sensitive hearing, but chances are that you probably won't find a sound-proof apartment at this price point anyways. However, the overall area is fantastic! Super close to nice hiking trails and just a 5 minute walk away from trader joes, sprouts, ralphs, food, cinema and COSTCO is just a 3 minute drive away! Would definitely recommend checking out this apartment if you work in the area! read more

My Wife and I were struggling to find a new home and we came upon Jefferson at Carmel Mountain. The tour was great and it felt so nice that Lily remembered all of our needs and followed up with us regularly. Lily and Debie (the office manager) helped us out so much during the whole application process and we are so happy with our new home. We have been living at the Jefferson's for almost 3 months and we enjoy the view out from our patio and how conveniently located it is from a lot of shopping centers. I've lived here for 2 years alone and never caused any trouble, even after having my car hit twice and dealing with the rude assistant manager Shelby who I caught avoiding my multiple phone calls to chat with a coworker. I always paid my rent on time or even early. I am shocked about how they handled the move-out. To every tenant/possible tenant: YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CARPET CLEANING/STRETCHING OR TOUCH-UP PAINT unless you have seriously damaged either. Normal wear and tear is not the tenant's responsibility. DO NOT let them charge you for this. Look up the laws if you don't believe me. After weeks of arguing and even having my current landlord help me, they adjusted the amount and reduced it by $128. These people were trying to unethically charge me an additional $128. Due to COVID-19, I am no longer working and struggling to make ends meet. The nerve these people have to wrongfully overcharge me is disgusting. If they have your security deposit. I'm so sorry! Look for another place to put your hard earned money in to. I'll be warning everyone about this place. Other cons: - tons of smokers and I could not open my windows due to my neighbors smoking around the clock. - major lack of cleanliness and upkeep around the property. There are spiderwebs and dead leaves everywhere. They don't care about the cleanliness of stairs or hall carpets. - not enough parking spaces for guests. - current spaces are too small which is why I got my parked car hit twice. - had so many packages stolen from my front door or opened and left. - neighbor's cars have been broken into. - if you live by the pool, there are definitely people who play loud music and swim past curfew. I've stayed up until 3am due to this and the "night guard" never came. - yes, I have witnessed multiple people having relations in the hut tub. People don't know that the sound carries up to all the units by the pool. WE HEAR EVERYTHING. - Spiders are a big issue even with living on the top floor. I have woken up to bites. - The valet trash you pay $20/month for decides wether or not they feel like taking your trash. I've had drama with them purposely leaving my trash even after multiple nights. read more

My husband and I moved out of this complex in September as we recently purchases a house. However, I still wanted to leave a GREAT review for The Jefferson as we LOVED our 2 years here. Every staff member is always willing to go above and beyond to help the residents. They are quick to answer any questions you may have. BIG shout out to Shelby in the office and the maintenance lady (her name is escaping me)!! They both have such positive attitudes and always make you smile. The Jefferson also has so many wonderful amenities offered here such as a new gym, NEST thermostats, trash valet, spacious & clean pool area, dog park and more! We were very fortunate to have the best neighbors which I know is not always guaranteed. If you are looking for somewhere that is conveniently located around shops, restaurants, and the I-15, look no further. We truly enjoyed our time here and miss the area already. read more

Ghetto! Fire doors are propped open with rocks! After 4 months of dealing with broken fire doors, I reported the Jefferson at Carmel Mountain Ranch to the SDFD.... First they lose our mail, then we prove to them it was delivered with a USPS receipt and they suddenly find it. Then we received a notice that our pet wasn't included in the lease. We have proof! Kelsey even threatened us with a 3-day notice ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON that if we didn't bring her our pet records BEFORE Monday morning we would evicted. We called our vet and they had a note in their system that the documents had ALREADY been sent.Obviously this lady hates dogs. I threatened to sue them for breach of contract and when they "reviewed our lease" Debbie the office manager called to tell us that the dog is included in the lease. Now today I come home to a notice that my water bill wasn't paid. So I attached pictures of receipts and bill and emailed it to them. I also decided to hire an attorney that I had previously consulted with. I'll update my review as this progresses. BOTTOM LINE: Don't move here, and don't trust the reviews. The last time our air conditioning was broke for over 2 weeks. Debbie the manager bribed us with a free dinner to keep quiet. This is not a 5 start apartment complex. Don't be fooled. Also, the walls are very thin. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING! I can even hear my neighbors using the restroom. GROSS!!! UPDATE: I can't believe it's been over a year...I'm so happy at my new place, I never followed up on this... After getting the regional manager Hillary involved, I was let out of my lease a few months early with penalties. They also failed to inspect my apartment by my move out date so they could not legally charge me any move out fees or my deposit. I won't say they didn't try..but when I reminded them of my legal rights as a tenant, they caved. I told him the following morning would be fine for him to take a look. He arrived on time and was polite and friendly. I've lived at this complex for about a week now and just love it. I've mainly been working with Debbie, George, and Lisa on the move-in process. They're so pleasant and friendly. The pool is being replastered and as work was beginning, George gave me a courtesy call because he saw my car was parked in the parking spots closest to the pool in case I wanted to move it away from the construction dust. I have lived here for almost a year and this is the best apartment I've been at in San Diego. The pool and gym are always well taken care of. Lisa in the front office has been amazing since we've moved in. She's always there to answer questions and when you see in around the complex always smiling. My actual apartment I'm in love with. We're on the 2nd floor and our neighbors are quiet, and the apartment gets good lighting. We've had maintenance come out to replace our closet light and they were amazing. She even left a sweet note and cookies for my dog which was great. read more

After almost 2 years all I can say is... If you are looking for a quiet place DON'T LIVE HERE! You can hear EVERYTHING! I hear all the conversations outside my appt, from above, the doors, the dogs barking, the kids screaming, and all the time people are moving in or out so you can imagine the noise. This apartment has thin walls and if you live on the first floor you can bet you will have plumbing issues. I can't wait to end my lease and move out! I was conflicted in writing this review because I've experienced ups and downs with the Jefferson at Carmel Mountain. I had a pretty scathing review done up the moment I moved out and since it's been a few months and I've had some time to calm down I think I'll finish it up. Pros: -Lisa and even the complex manager Shelby are very easy to work with. I was not the easiest tenant and they were never anything but professional and cheerful to me. -Getting in the door was pretty easy. With docusign and the whole process online there was very little I needed to do before going in and picking up my keys. -Location is pretty clinch. Shopping and food are a stone's throw away and freeway access is great without the noise. -Gym is pretty nice, water bottles and cold towels when they're stocked. Cons, and bear with me here, you'll start to see why this is a two-star review: -The Jefferson at Carmel Mountain is a lofty title for what is in all respects, apartment living. Everything that does along with apartments: being able to hear your neighbors, arguments that come from living with neighbors in close proximity, everybody else's shitty habits, apartment management companies, etc. all come into play. Don't fool yourself thinking these are UTC or downtown condos, these are the exact same apartments you get anywhere else in Poway/RB/Carmel Mountain. -The rent for these places is nearly the same as a $500,000 mortgage. Add in utilities (which are calculated by how much water/sewer/gas your neighbors use), "valet" trash service, package concierge, and a service fee for paying online, and you're looking at a lot out of pocket for no yard and no privacy. To be fair, none of these costs were hidden and we planned on paying them regardless, but people don't necessarily realize just how much they pay for apartments in San Diego. -Parking. Well...read the other reviews about parking. Imagine its bad at this place, and then try to imagine that it's worse than anything you've read or can imagine. There is no guest parking in the complex, none. It's taken up in the early afternoon by residents who don't have enough assigned parking. Garages are used for storage and people will willingly park in fire lanes or block your assigned spot. I witnessed on two occasions a stranger taking an assigned carport spot and rooting through the dumpsters before leaving. The arguments I got into with my neighbors all centered on abuse of the parking situation. -The apartments themselves: this will be a fun bullet point, because they are some of the shoddiest construction I've ever seen. You can hear doors slamming from the other side of the building. You can hear your neighbors consummating their relationships, you can hear arguments and babies crying, you can hear their garage doors directly below you rumble up and down at all hours of the night. There is no soundproofing whatsoever at the Jefferson, none. The plumbing sucks too! We were there about three months and had two separate occasions where a sink backed up, one put the only bathroom sink out of commission for a few days, and then cleared up on it's own when they fixed a sink in another apartment. The other sink backed up when we were out for an evening, and we came home to a flooded kitchen. I had to harass the on-call maintenance person to come in and fix it (after I was instructed to go upstairs and confront my upstairs neighbor), and had to pay out of pocket for their fans and deodorizers. Only after I asked did they offer to cover the $30 cost in electricity. -Safety, there is none. There is apparently a number to call for security services, hidden away in the new resident packet, but I never once in three months saw a security guard come through the place. There are paths that cut through the complex that people walk through from the street and I had stuff stolen from my vehicle. When filing the police report, the cops seemed to know all about the "door jigglers" that routinely hit up the local apartment complexes, but none of that stuff is disclosed prior to moving in, and nothing is done to change it and protect their residents. People also routinely rummage through the dumpsters for treasure, and these are not residents doing it. -Moving out, this too was a ton of fun. After somebody had rat-fucked my parked car and a neighbor's mom threatened me, I decided I'd had enough with The Jefferson at Carmel Mountain. I let management know I wanted out of my lease, and whoo-boy! did they make it a fun experience. I emailed my grievances to Shelby and was assured I'd be hearing back from the customer care team. Twice I did that and not a peep until I get an e-mail from a lawyer. I guess that's what I get for mentioning I didn't want to pursue legal action? We finally settled on paying the rent until a new tenant could move in, but it was still a pretty decent chunk of change to leave. Seems I've hit my character limit. Beautiful and secluded property. Location is superb with its proximity to shops, restaurants, and entertainment. After giving North Park another chance, we decided it was time to upgrade and move up north to be closer to my job. We came on a Saturday afternoon. Lisa was extremely friendly, but she seemed to be rushing us. We barely sat down before she was drilling through all the questions and then whisking us away to view the model unit. Obviously the model unit was beautiful, with well-thought out decoration, view, and attached garage. The kitchen was very open and my wife loved the dining area. The balcony was also very spacious, but the storage was merely the size of a coat closet... which really didn't live up to the size of the balcony. But I think the main dealbreaker were the closets. So. Strange. Why are the closets inside the bathrooms? The model unit didn't have any closet doors, which Lisa said was because it is built ADA standards. So then why are the tubs without railings? I don't know many handicapable individuals that are climbing into tubs, let alone climbing inside without any railings... What was strange was that on their website, it clearly says that six 2-bedroom units were available NOW, but Lisa insists they don't have any availability until 2 weeks later. I've been checking their website for weeks, so unless they don't update their website EVER, how can the same 6 units be available NOW but unavailable for viewing? She wasn't pushy, but was definitely guiding us toward filling out an application for a unit we have yet to see. She insisted that the unit looks just like the model, etc. I don't know, I still think it's normal practice to allow tenants to see the unit before we sign paperwork. I mean, would you buy a car based on a picture or someone else's car? She did make great suggestions as to where else to look in the area, so I really appreciate that. In the end, based on the layout and price, we decided against renting here. read more

Absolutely little to zero parking. Every residence is given one space or a garage space, so roommates or families with multiple vehicles are going to have issues, simply because the only other spaces are outside the complex in the street or the nearby shopping center. The "guest" spaces that you would imagine they have are actually the "future resident" spaces, so if you are coming for a tour, good luck with parking also. Since the reviewers who wrote bad reviews have been filtered out, I think it's pretty necessary to update my review to reflect how I feel about JCMR after living there about 1.5 years. I would anyway, just saying. Everything began to go downhill just after we signed our lease for the second time. Made me so angry! And yes, I have talked with the complex staff about all of these issues I outline, but NOTHING has been done about any of them. Likely because the staff is always changing, which means that nothing ever truly gets done. I really wish I could break my lease, and I probably will try. Here's why: -Trash EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME. Their trash situation is a joke, and for a complex this big, they need more than one dumpster. Laziness from residents is an issue, but also the whole "put your trash out between 5-9am" policy is awful because crows (who live all around this place) peck holes in all of the bags and there is literally trash strewn all over the parking lot. This situation is made worse by the fact that everyone puts their trash out over the weekend and on holidays, not only when they're supposed to. They fine people for it, but it's not enough of a fine, and people STILL do it all the time. It's an unsanitary living condition, and not at all aesthetically pleasing. -Parked cars all over the place, including in just about EVERY SINGLE RED ZONE in the complex. Yes, we have called the cops on cars before, but I'm getting sick and tired of having to do that. I've even seen two cars parked simultaneously in ONE red zone area (double parked). -People honking & being loud outside and in the parking lots LATE at night. Luckily my husband and I are night people, but I can't imagine how awful it is for some of the residents. I get frustrated a lot on weekends when people make tons of noise into the late hours of the night. Most recently, it was about 2am and a woman was out in the lot HONKING her horn repeatedly because someone had parked in her spot. My husband went and talked to her, and shortly after that someone came out and moved the car (though they complained that they parked in her spot because someone parked in theirs). In short, the parking situation here is HORRIBLE and that causes some noisiness, apparently. -Shared hallways (between apartments) often smell like camp latrines & are full of trash from time to time. I don't think this is the case only in our building. -People don't pick up after their dogs & there is dog pee EVERYWHERE. I have a short dog, and she sometimes gets caught up in bushes that are covered in dog urine. GROSS. I think there must be quite a few non-neutered male dogs at this complex. -Office staff is usually nice, but can be semi-rude from time to time (depending on who you see in there). I'd say 99% of the residents who live here are RUDE and inconsiderate. I have only met a few nice people. This is a huge complex, I had hoped there would be more friendly people around. There is NO community feel around here, people generally keep to themselves. So if you want that kind of thing, look elsewhere. It's pretty cold & unfriendly at JCMR. I could go on and on, but really, this place isn't worth living at anymore. I don't know what changed. The entire office staff seems to have turned over since we moved here, and maybe that's the problem? Though I think that it's just that the guidelines for choosing new residents have gone down the toilet. This place once felt like a nice, quiet apartment complex... Now it feels like a college dorm. Bottom line: not recommended. PS: Do yourself a favor and read the filtered reviews. They're both VERY negative. I lived here a while back and I had an apartment that overlooked the pool area. The pool was nice, and the apartment was okay. But the pool became a hangout late at night for loud people, including non-residents. People would regularly come and make a lot of noise and keep me awake past midnight, even during the week. There was no on-site security enforcing the pool hours. There was no way to reach the management off hours, they had an answering service that would call a security company that would dispatch someone from 45 minutes away. Some nights security would take over an hour and a half to come, sometimes they wouldn't come at all. At a minimum, I would be kept awake after midnight for about an hour waiting for security to come and kick people out of the pool area. The management did nothing meaningful to address this problem and acted like they didn't care at all so I moved out when my lease was up. I was losing too much sleep, literally. read more

We love living here! We simply moved from down the street at Landing Carmel... And what a difference! Not only are the apartments lovely, but the staff is wonderful and very attentive. Maintenance responds immediately and efficiently. In the office, Lisa Lucero is wonderful. She has true customer service skills that are refreshing. read more

My boyfriend and I just moved in 2 months ago and so far we love it here! Our apartment interiors are very nice with crown molding, new stainless steel appliances, wood flooring in the kitchen and dining area and tons of closet space! The staff at the office are all very nice and personable and the maintenance staff are very quick and responsive as well as do a great job of keeping the property clean! read more
