Unfortunately you don't even deserve 1 star. I truly believe you are only in business is because Greyhound uses you, which I am going to make it my mission that relationship ends. Transferring onto your bus created a nightmare for me for 3 days. The selfishness and childish behavior of your driver cost me more than I care to admit. Then when I contacted your office to inform you of my devastating experience, your lady who answers the phone hung up on me. When I called back she would not answer, but when I called right back blocking my number she answered right away. I guess childish behavior is not limited to your drivers. I think it's ridiculous that y'all allowed these buses be super packed and not only that there should be a rule about letting fat people sharing seats with anyone I'm not a happy customer I shouldn't have to fill uncomfortable to my whole destination especially with all the health complications I'm having the bus line is so greedy and y'all need to do better also not have bus driver's who are sick. Hello, My name is Beth and I wanted to reach out in regards to your exchange or refund ticket policy. Your policy according to your representative is that a call has to be made 20 mins prior to bus departure and a $20.00 reissuing fee. This presents so many issues for your valued customers due to the fact that your customer service is depleted. Your wait times to speak to a rep is 20 to 40 minutes with no response; hung up calls after eventually speaking to someone, VM recordings that never get listened to and overall lack of care presented by the customer service rep. Not to mention your online portal was made to meet the standards of your company but not the convenience of your customer or your overworked staff. That leads me into my last point., To demand the consumer pay MORE money for a service that was never rendered to receive another service while never providing anything more than an actual ride if that ride doesn't leave EARLY has me convinced that maybe you can't see this from a larger scale. Arrived at the Des Moines station 20 minutes early for a 4:10am to KC. NO EMPLOYEE EVER SHOWED UP OR OPENED THE STATION . I was unable to get any of my 4 tickets/transfers printed due to this. Every stop/terminal i was told that they could not print ticket except at the original departing station. Which - again - never opened. It was below zero on Tuesday and the employees put people's health at risk leaving them outside in the cold. Totally unacceptable for any business let alone a travel service. First And Last Time! How can they stay in business with skipping stations and no communication? Purchased tickets well in advance from Ames, IA to Des Moines then on to Chicago. Waited and waited in Ames only to find the bus driver decided to skip this station and leave the dozen people waiting there because he was running an hour late?! WTF? Get with the times Jefferson; text alert or answer your phone! The next morning got a 9:45 bus, provided there was room or they would've left us. Never in my life have I been treated this cruelly by a person who works in customer service. The woman working at the counter told me to learn to read, that she can't help people who don't know things, and that I was ignorant and dumb. I was in tears and completely humiliated, especially since she was yelling. As I got on the bus I told her she was a horrible person, so she said I was a dumb jackass, among other things. I don't know how this woman has a job here. It was disgusting and sad. read more

It has been years since I took this bus service, back when I was going to school in Minnesota and had to come to Iowa for personal and business purposes. I was received the best deals with this bus line from Minneapolis to Des Moines, I am not 100% sure, but this may actually be the only bus line that has this route. The multiple trips I took with this bus line was always consistent with the experience. There was only one time during this route when there was a lot of people and I actually had to sit next to someone, the other times you get your own 2 seats. The bus rides have always been quiet, people talk quietly or are traveling alone and don't talk at all. The bus was kept clean and the temperature was always suitable for the weather. I have never had an issue with the rides and again, the price was great! read more

It's my first time taking this bus line. I was nervous from all the terrible reviews, but it was pretty consistent. I took the bus from Kansas City, MO to Ames, IA at 1:30 am arrived at 6:26 am, just 6 minutes behind. Definitely arrive there 30 minutes prior, since they load up the bus pretty early and leaves about 2 minutes early and the bus driver was pretty nice. read more

After waiting for fowl mouth F-bomb dropping employee to finish his small talk with other employee, I hand guy my ticket and he says "didn't they call you? that bus was cancelled and they were suppose to call you" um... no they didn't. He says "you can use this for a bus later today (5 hours later!) or you can get a refund" five hours later? my plans are ruined five hours later! I did get an email an hour and a half AFTER I showed up at station saying that my bus had been cancelled and I could get a credit for a future bus ride.... really? you provide no service, stress me out, make me cry, cost me $20 in gas getting there/back, and think I will sign up to go through this again? not likely. read more

Please read reviews before purchasing a ticket from Jefferson Lines! I purchased a round trip ticket from Ames Iowa to Chicago Illinois to return home for fall break from college. I printed my tickets the night before, double sided, which meant my transfer was on the back of the first ticket. My transfer was in Des Moines onto a bus that would take me all the way to Chicago. No where did I see that the tickets couldn't be double sided, however this became an issue when the bus driver who picked us up in Ames (who was also late) took my entire ticket. I informed him my transfer was on the back and he proceeded to reprimand me in a very rude tone about how I "should not have done that," and that I would have to rush into the office in Des Moines to get another ticket printed, and that I would be charged. It was late at night, and I am an 18 year old female traveling alone. For the entire drive (a very rough drive at that) I was worried that I would be stuck in Des Moines. When we finally did arrive, I rushed into the office to get the ticket printed before I missed my transfer. Another young woman and the bus driver were there, and he once again proceeded to reprimand us for printing out tickets double-sided. The woman at the counter also spoke very rudely about us, saying that it was ridiculous, that people should "learn how to print these tickets correctly," (despite no easily accessible information saying the tickets couldn't be printed double-sided) and also poke fun at the other young woman and I for being so eager to get the ticket. I can only speak for myself, but I was eager because I didn't want to be stranded in an unfamiliar city alone at night. We got the tickets with no charge, and they seemed to have already been pre-printed but I could be mistaken. I boarded my transfer bus which wasn't Jefferson Lines and has a much smoother experience. I would not recommend using Jefferson Lines if you enjoy receiving adequate customer service, or like not being terrified when you travel. read more

My wife is to travel with Jefferson Lines from Butte, MT, to Billings, MT, to Rapid City, SD. She is a Filipina whose English is not fluent. She will change buses in Billings, but the layover she'll have in Billings is scheduled to be a short 15 minutes. My concern is that if there's a delay in travel from Butte to Billings, she'll miss her connection. I wanted to learn if the Billings bus to Rapid City might be delayed if such would be the case. I phoned Jefferson Customer (dis)Service to see if her connection might be held in that event. The incredibly impudent woman with whom I spoke said she could not answer that question, and asked why I was concerned about a situation that was not at that point a problem. I I replied that I was trying to avoid a problem or find a means to deal with a potential problem. I used the word "contingency", so maybe that confused her. When asked what options my wife might have given the above scenario, she had the colossal nerve to suggest that maybe my wife would have to wait another 24 hours for the next scheduled departure. I asked her if Jefferson would provide her accommodations in that event, but this is another question the Customer (dis)Service rep had no answer for. I fully agree with the other reviewers who rated this incredibly foul organization with one star - but only because that seems to be the least favorable option. read more
