The train arrived at the station, we gathered our luggage and walked out and the train took off. When we got to the platform we couldn't figure out why the train doors were closed and how to get on so we stood there waiting for a conductor. Then it rolled away all within 3 minutes of pulling up. Amtrak did reimburse our tickets, but it was a total disappointment not taking the train on my husband's birthday.

It cost about $32 for single day pass online. My only critique would be if the drivers would share tips. Most of time we had a different driver to each winery. I'm a rail advocate, and while it's got its own set of issues right now, it sure is wonderful when it works out. Most recently, it all worked out for us on the Missouri River Runner. Our crews were helpful with our bikes, and then we checked out this station where the folks were chatty and helpful as well. This station has some Hermann history, current happenings and local biz pamphlets, and a restroom and drinking fountain. Again this station is RIGHT on the River, and easily walkable within the small but fun town of Hermann. For Katy Trail riders, they call it a spur to connect the trail about two or three miles away to the north, but it's not a legit spur. It's an actual highway, so some riders might not be comfortable with it. The shoulders are wide, but it's kinda suboptimal. For the tourism aspect, I'd really love for Hermann/Missouri/local residents to get behind a legit bike trail and spur like Jefferson City offers. All in all, it's a great part of the state and this Amtrak station is a good one.

We were denied because they found a bedbug, claiming it to be from us as we were the last fare. This is not enough reason to ban us as bedbugs hide and they had other fares before us. And I don't think they'd have time to clean their vehicles between each fare. Did they take photos, cleaning receipts, timestamps, etc? No, nothing was provided for us.This is public transportation and who is to say it didn't come from another fare. This has been very embarrassing for us. We did call them to talk to someone but it was futile. They are always busy, always late, vehicle doors don't always work, mostly uncomfortable. Not very professional.
