Our driver was the best! We had a group of 12 and from the moment we got to Hermann he already knew the vibe we were going for from the music to the conversation, he just made the whole day fun. He also made sure we made it back to our train on time. We wanted to stop at a few more places, but he knew being from there we weren't going to make it and talked us into heading to the stop early. This is the best way to check out all the wineries in Hermann. I love how you just hop on and off to whichever wineries you want to check out. Highly recommend buying tickets ahead of time. It cost about $32 for single day pass online. My only critique would be if the drivers would share tips. Most of time we had a different driver to each winery. My friend and I had a great day on the trolley! It was a rainy day, so the trolley was a welcome refuge from the rain. The cost is $20, we paid cash so might be good to have some on you! It being the winter, it was not very crowded. We had the same driver all day, Aaron. He was so friendly and helpful! They were fast with our pick ups and offered tips for around town. Aaron told us a great place for lunch, and even drove past our lunch place to make sure it was open as to not drop us off needlessly in the rain! Due to the rain, we were not able to get to one winery because of flooding, but I don't blame the trolley for that. I am thankful they kept us safe! If you buy wine, they allow you to keep it on the trolley so you don't need to lug it around. Aaron even dropped it off at where we were staying so we did not have to carry it around town! Unreliable; Does Not Honor Published Hours of Operation! Do not trust the published hours of operation or policies (no minimum; no reservations required) on their website. We visited Hermann one April Sunday and had planned to ride the trolley to visit wineries, distilleries, shops, etc. When we got into town, we phoned the business to get an idea of when it would be arriving near our stop. The proprietor told us that business was slow so he sent his driver home and would not be running that day. The trolley was an integral part of our planned visit to Hermann, and without an alternative mode of transportation (short of drinking and driving, which we would never do and which is why we planned to use the damn trolley in the first place), we cancelled our B&B reservation and drove home. Sorry Hermann wineries, shops, and restaurants: The unreliable trolley cost you sales that day. If you're planning the trolley as part of your visit, I'd STRONGLY recommend coming up with a plan B in case the same thing happens to you. read more

Great friendly service! We rode this around all day and it was worth $10/person. Kevin, our driver was awesome. He was upbeat, funny and kept everyone happy. We opted for the trolley because we didn't want to drive after visiting multiple wineries. Plus being Oktoberfest we knew traffic and parking in the small town would be a mess. This is a great option if you don't want to drive or came in on the train. They will take you around starting about 9 am - till late at night. I think their normal hours are till about 10pm, but during Oktoberfest they ran past midnight. They visit Hermannhof, Stone Hill, Adam Puchta, and Oak Glenn. They'll also take you any where in Hermann if they aren't too busy. Kevin will give you his cell so you can call him when you need a ride. They have two trollies and basically circle the town all day so you never have to wait more than 20 minutes if that for them. The only downside is that there's no a/c on the trolley and it can get pretty hot when the weather is warm. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I called Kevin one month ago to let him know my husband and I would be coming into town. He said he'd be glad to take us around town and there would be a party that day/night but that we could join. I emailed 2 weeks prior to arrival verifying the trip and he again told us everything was good. I emailed him once again 3 days before arrival and told him when we'd be arriving (by train... mind you). He confirmed he would pick us up at the Amtrak station. Trip day comes.. I email to let him know we are on our way. No reply. I call him once we get to Hermann station and he claims the trolley "isn't running today". He said he would "call me back" and I never heard a word. Luckily, we were able to walk to some wineries/distilleries and a local uber driver was able to pick us up from there. Moral of the story: DON'T USE THIS SERVICE. HE DOESN'T CARE IF YOU WILL BE STRANDED. HE IS ONLY WORRIED ABOUT MAKING MONEY. HE ONLY CARES ABOUT PICKING YOU UP IF YOU ARE IN A LARGE GROUP. If he would've been honest from the beginning, I would've understood. I know it's hard to make money during the winter... and especially on small groups. I could've figured something else out. My fiancé and I had a wonderful time in Hermann with the Hermann Trolley company. I gave them a call to pick us up from our bed and breakfast and they arrived at our doorstep within 5 minutes. Our driver also drove us to an ATM because we didn't realize they didn't accept debit/credit card. We got into town early afternoon and our driver did a great job prioritizing the wineries so that we were able to make the most of our afternoon. We weren't able to go to Oak Glen because the roads were icy but we went to Adam Puchta, Stone Hill, and Hermanhoff. Our driver gave us some history of the town and pointed out landmarks as we were riding from stop to stop. Everyone we contacted at the company was friendly and made every attempt to ensure we had a great time. We will definitely be using this company again when we visit Hermann in the future. read more

The Hermann Trolley is a must if you're visiting the area. The Trolley will pick your group up from wherever location you are at (we were picked up down the block from our house - just give them a call and they're on their way) and take you to a rotating list of wineries. Our first stop was Adam Puchta, then we went to Stone Hill, and once we were done, we asked them to drop us off at Tin Mill Brewery and they did! I believe there are about 4 or 5 trolleys and they're all on time. I think they stop by for drop off / pick ups every 15-20 minutes based on location. The trolleys themselves are nicely kept, clean, and the drivers are super friendly. They also play some great music on board. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a trolley wine tour in the small Missouri German town of Hermann...and it was awesome! You'll want to ride into town via Amtrak where they'll pick you up at the station--from then on it's up to you! For a mere $15 bucks per person you'll get a wristband that's good for the day. IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY! They have a few trolleys that run throughout the town so there's never a wait when calling to ask for a ride elsewhere. The wineries on their tour list are as follows: Stone Hill, Adam Puchta, Hermannhof, Star Lane / Three Saints, Oak Glenn, and Tin Mill Brewery. My personal favorite by far was Adam Puchta (review to follow). We even were able to dropped off at our hotel and the station next day. This trolley is definitely a party. The drivers all have personalities that really shine and keep you entertained. The energy on the trolley by the end of the night was incredible. Which would have been nice to know before we paid! 11 of us paid 20$ to go to ONE winery because they didn't inform us of October hours. The trolley in Hermann is a brilliant idea! They have several different drivers that take you all around to the 5-6 wineries in the area all for only $15 a person for the day! This year we stayed a little ways out of town, but the trolley still came and picked our group up at the door! The drivers are all so courteous, each with their own fun personality! You can also leave any wine you buy on the trolley to pickup later, which is great so you can enjoy the day without lugging around heavy bottles/boxes of wine. I would definitely recommend the Hermann trolley as it keeps my friends and I coming back each year. Awesome. Just awesome. For a $10 daily pass, the guys who operate this trolley will pick you up wherever you are in Hermann and take you where you want to go. They stay on call all day. Whenever you need a pick up, just call them, they'll be on their way. The trolley delivers you to the local wineries, picks you up about an hour and a half later, and helps you continue on your boozy way. After a day of wine tastings, beer tastings, and general drinkings, this trolley will be your new BFF -- if only for avoiding a DUI. I visit Hermann at least once a year but sometimes multiple times a year and have always used the Trolley and even have Kevin's number programmed into my phone, never had a problem until this past weekend. I was in town to have a low key 40th birthday celebration for a friend. There were 4 ladies total. We started the day going to Lost Creek via their shuttle and spent a couple of hours there. About 2pm we approach Kevin the Trolly lot and ask if they could take us to Stone Hill. We didn't want to do the full route of the Trolley because we had all been there before we just wanted to visit Stone Hill and Oak Glenn. He has driver take us to Stone hill and we were there until about 530ish when we called for a Trolley to pick us up. After about 30 minutes one arrives. No air conditioning on a SCORCHER of a day. The driver Jeremiah probably the rudest person I had ever met in Hermann. We finally arrive at Oak Glenn and after about an hour we are ready to leave. I call the Trolly and am told one is coming up the hill right now, well we missed it waiting for someone to come back from bathroom, so I call again. Was told 15 minutes. Well about 25 minutes later the van shows up and there are about 25 of us waiting for Trolly at this point and the drivers will not let anyone on except for 4 people he said he needed to take somewhere. Getting frustrated another girl calls is told it's on its way. 20 minutes later still not there, so a 3rd girl in our calls and asks if there is a ETA? Kevin answered and was so rude. Called my friend a liar and said no way she had been waiting for an hour. Proceeded to then tell her it's not his fault if she is too stupid to get on one of the 4 trolleys that has been there since our first call. He also let her know that she was on speaker and him and all the other guys were laughing at her. Keep in mind the Van is the only thing that had come through. She tries to explain that to him and he hangs up on her. Finally the Trolly arrives and we are all livid. Including about 20 strangers that heard the phone conversation. We tell everyone to stay calm and let's just get back to town. We get to Trolly lot and another girl in group tried to talk to Jeremiah about what happened and he laughs in her face. We all walk away and go back to our houses and still upset try to call and get resolution. Kevin proceeds to tell us to "f*ck off". About a hour later we are walking (keep in mind the we is 4 women in their 40's) to dinner at Concert Hall and we have to pass the Trolley lot. We are walking on opposite side of road and Kevin comes from the lot into the road with his hand out to his side screaming at us if we had a problem. This is the most unprofessional and threatening guy I have ever experienced. I am still in shock! We asked around town that night and it does seem this is the norm for him and several business and local can't stand him. We were encouraged at ever turn to call chamber of commerce, talk to tourist director Tammy, and to report to better business bureau. All of which will be done. Keep in mind, none of the 4 of us were drunk, we had maybe 3 bottles total in a 7 hour period. There were MANY MANY drunk people around Hermann but we were not them. Many locals can attest to this as they talked with us throughout the night. That said EVEN if we were, you run a business that not only caters to people drinking you encourage them too drink and drink heavily! If that's your business you damn well better know how to deal with people!!! We will not only take Uber or hire a private driver when we are in town. I would LOVE to see some of the B&B start their own shuttle service for their guests! I would stay at those places every time! The trolley will never happen again! read more

I have been to wineries all over the country and I have yet to find any place that has something as awesome as the Hermann Trolley!!!! It is probably 90% of the reason I even keep coming back to Hermann. Where else can get a DD to a bunch of wineries for a full day for $15 a person? This was my fourth time to Hermann and the Hermann Trolley was just as good as ever! We stayed off the beaten path at an AirBNB, so I was worried we would have to walk to get the trolley. Not so! They sent someone to our front door within 5 minutes of calling! I was SO impressed. Although you can call for a ride anytime of day, if you go on a Saturday, a trolley will probably stop by within 20 minutes of any winery you drink at....which is great. All of the drivers are so friendly and helpful. They help you on and off the trolley at each stop. Not only are they courteous, but they are a lot of fun! I love the music they play, and who doesn't love a driver that keeps encouraging you to drink as much as you can?! In sum, the only way to get around Hermann! The only downside is that they spoil you so much that you're bound to be disappointed when you visit another set of wineries! read more

A great service for the tourists. Absolutely the safest route. However, today our driver took us to a different winery when we requested another. That took an extra 30 minutes out of the way. At 5 pm, we requested a pick up at the last winery and were told it would be 10 minutes. Three different people in our group called asking to be picked up. Each time the driver responds 10-15 minutes. It took 45 minutes for a driver to pick us up in the cold, drizzly weather. Our group lost our fun vibes and buzz. Very disappointing way to end our day. They allow you to keep the wine you bought at different wineries on the trolley while you tour other wineries. When we asked Kevin how late he was running, his reply was, "Till you're done!" Nice!! He is always willing to offer opinions/recommendations and has helped my group find some excellent places that we wouldn't have otherwise. (ex- the pizza at Sharps Corner Tavern - delicious and cheap!) His rate has gone up to $15 a day due to gas prices - but I think this is still a steal. This service is awesome. Do not take the chance of drinking and driving. You pay the fee, you will receive all day to any winery, to any place in town. The music is pumping, the drivers are super friendly. In case some people have a little too much to drink, they will make sure your feet are planted on the ground safely, by assisting all passengers on and off the trolley. If you would like to purchase wine at the winery, they will hold your wine. No need to carry it from place to place.
