I've always loved Jefferson Dairy. We were headed to mini golf and stopped in before to get our favorites. I love Elephants Never Forget and it never disappoints. Hubby went for the supersized "The Jeffrey" which included Dirty Diaper (my other favorite), Elephants never forget, Lake Hopatcong Mud. It was topped off w/ chocolate cream cookies, whipped cream and of course a cherry on top. They are always super nice and let you sample any flavors you wish. I got the soft serve on a cone with rainbow sprinkles. The ice cream was so soft that the staff asked if she could put it in a cup. I used to come here as a kid when we would go back to Bergen County after camping in Sussex for the weekend. I took my son here for the first time a month or so ago. I haven't been here in about 28 years but I will tell you, the ice cream is still as amazing as it was back then. I grew up at this place as long as I can remember, after baseball came here but at the beginning of this summer a few weeks ago I went, I asked for some cookie dough ice cream with chocolate sprinkles in a medium cone, I got vanilla ice cream in a small cup with no sprinkles, the service went out with the old cool design now it's new and shiny trying to be something it isn't. The barometer I use is whether I would drive out of my way to enjoy ice cream at said establishment. Would I drive out of my way for Jefferson Dairy? No. The ice cream is good but nothing worth driving to Jefferson Township for. My husband and I found our ice cream to be excessively sweet and artificial tasting. Indoor space is very limited, no indoor eating area. It would be very difficult for someone in a wheelchair to order ice cream, as space is tight but on a positive note all three doors open outward. They don't accept any form of credit cards or debit cards. They have outdoor seating but it is on a grassy hill with no flat access. So if you are chair bound you can always eat your ice cream on the pavement while your family enjoys theirs sitting on the Adirondack chairs on the grass. read more

I finally stopped driving past this place and I'm so happy we finally stopped in! Wow , the strawberry icecream was filled with tons of strawberries! The best strawberry icecream I've ever had and my son loved it ! My daughter got the cotton candy Ice cream and she loved it. It was filled with sprinkles. Where we live, there are four different homemade ice creams stores to pick from, and the only reason I went with Jefferson dairy over Cliffs was that I had a coupon for 15% off total purchase. So glad I chose them! The cake itself was beautiful, as they went above my initial design and made it look even better than expected. I ordered a specialized cake with coffee ice cream and vanilla, and found not only the chocolate crunches but a thin layer of fudge separating the two flavors. This tiny added bonus was a surprise and what set all the other cakes apart. It was delicious! With the use of a coupon, a full sheet cake was less expensive than a half sheet from competitors. Housed in a former Dairy Queen, this Indy ice cream parlor features an enormous cartoon cow looming over the doorway. They offer a large selection of hard serve and a couple of soft serve flavors.
