I ordered a salted caramel on a cone and really enjoyed my experience. The shop itself is average. There is no indoor space, and you order outside via a service window. The seating outside the shop leaves a bit to be desired, there are just a bunch of benches on the pavement and cars speed by. We actually almost got hit by one that accidentally drove through the seating area. My cone itself was good but nothing super special. They have a great range of flavors, including some soft serve, too. I am only giving this four stars, as opposed to a more average rating, because the location on the lake is unbeatable. On a nice summer day I would highly recommend grabbing a scoop and heading down to Lake Mohawk Boardwalk for a walk. It's one of the only ice cream places around and makes for a perfect end of the day treat. read more

I first had Alpine Creamery at a fair and fell in love with their blueberry pie ice cream. I have been wanting to go to their location ever since and finally made it there! It is located in a cute area on Lake Mohawk with a few restaurants and small shops making it a perfect stop especially with the lake views! $6 for the small one flavor in a sugar cone I thought was reasonably priced. Good homemade ice cream. The flavors are fairly standard but the ice creams are flavorful and rich. I forgot to take a photo before we tucked in but ordered cherry vanilla, coconut, and cheesecake Graham cracker - all very good and had generous mix-ins. Came here on a hot weekend and stopped here before leaving! I ordered a small cup of the cappuccino oreo, deciding to stray away from the typical mint chocolate chip I would normally order, and I definitely regretted my decision. The cappuccino oreo wasn't anything special. Barely had any cappuccino flavoring. They do give you a good amount of scoops and there are vegan options available to meet dietary needs. Wifey and I love and appreciate a good ice cream joint. For all the years we've been coming up to Lake Mohawk to visit friends we'd never eaten at Alpine until a couple weeks ago. This place ALWAYS has a line-afternoon, dinner time, late night...doesn't matter. And now we know why. We had dinner over at the country club with friends and after we broke our separate ways Wifey and I decided to get some dessert. Wifey ordered the Chocolate peanut butter Oreo and I had the Salted caramel and chocolate toasted almond (had to get a medium with two scoops so minus a point there). Seriously, this ice cream is excellent. Service was a little slow...or maybe they were understaffed. Either way, I didn't care once I tasted the ice cream. Do you like ice cream? Sweet little place in downtown Sparta, which I found and bookmarked whilst making an ice cream bucket list for NJ earlier this summer. I ended up making a spontaneous pitstop after a long and sweaty hike - best decision ever. They do basic flavors really well - bought a medium cup of chocolate and strawberry (a rather generous portion), which I devoured within minutes. The view of the lake, which is less than a block away, is equally resplendent - enjoy your ice cream down at the pier if it's quiet enough. Be sure to bring cash, and maybe a cap if it's hot and sunny, since the queue was pretty long. read more

A few years ago Alpine Creamery moved down the street from the space that is now Clark's Crepes. It's now housed in what used to be a dry cleaners and was probably a service station back in the day - it looks like that with the covered drive out front. Need to ask about that... This is the spot to get your ice cream on in White Deer Plaza, right across the street from the Lake Mohawk boardwalk. Huge selection of locally made hard ice cream with some good combinations (current fave is Peanut Butter Oreo). Shakes, floats and malts. In warm weather there's a bunch of Adirondack chairs all around. It's great to kick back and watch your neighbors enjoying themselves. Make it a night and grab a bite to eat at Casa Mia across the street or at one of the other 4-5 restaurants in the plaza. Very idyllic spot with its genuine small town vibe. read more

Just wanted to send a belated but heartfelt THANK YOU to the owners of Alpine Creamery. My husband and I got married at Lake Mohawk Country Club in May 2015, and since we both love ice cream, we wanted to get some professional wedding photos in front of Alpine Creamery. As we were taking photos, the owner came out to us, congratulated us, and gave us each a complimentary cone of vanilla soft serve! It was such a sweet gesture -- and so thoughtful to give the bride a white ice cream so it wouldn't stain her white dress! -- and it really helped make the day special for us. Plus, it gave us some great pictures, which I've uploaded with my review. Instead of toasting with champagne, we were toasting with Alpine Creamery ice cream! So, not only does this place make terrific ice cream (shout out flavors: peanut butter oreo, and coconut!), but it's run by really nice people. Decent ice cream, with some fun seasonal flavors mixed in with all the staples. The best asset this place has though is its location. You can grab a cone, sit, and watch the whole town go by, as it's seating area is right at the main intersection. Another fun activity is to grab your ice cream and go for a walk on the boardwalk across the street, and look out over the lake. While not part of the creamery itself, it is part of the experience, and not to be missed right when the sun is setting over the lake. read more

Incredibly rude and two-sided employee. I walked toward the window and kept my distance and covered my face and an employee told me I had to leave because I didn't have a mask on. I asked if I stood far away and have someone with a mask grab my order for me if I could do that and she said no. A minute later she let 3 girls walk up to the window with masks on there chin and the employee let the customer put her dog in the ordering counter. If me standing 8 ft away without a mask on is unsanitary but a dog standing on the counter is then I don't wanna know the rest of the guidelines this employee follows. Terrible experience. read more

Tonight my 15 year old daughter was denied the opportunity to purchase ice cream after her 8.8 mile bike ride around the surrounding lake bc she didn't have the right "face covering". Alpine Creamery is an outside shop and even though the servers stand behind a plexiglass shield and you can literally sit a foot away from the window and eat your ice cream WITHOUT a mask, the server wouldn't let her order. Alpine Creamery is convenient to Lake Mohawk, but after tonight's discrimination and their over priced menu, I think we'll take our business to Sparta Dairy up the street. read more

I was dining at Kroghs while visiting Lake Mohawk and happened to stumble upon this tiny place and thank goodness I did! The iceream was soooooo good! I ALWAYS choose anything coffee (I keep telling myself to pick something new but couldn't resist) and I got this unique mixture of coffee/rocky road...I can't remember because it was 2 years ago, augh. I wish I could remember :( But overall, I really love how good it was and I enjoy shops like these in small towns since I come from the city and I mean the crazy city of Las Vegas lol I can't wait to go back to Lake Mohawk, it's such a beautiful place and I especially cannot wait to go back to Alpine Creamery! I live in Sparta but have not been here many times..maybe once in a while with our kid's friends. However, went last week as it was 80s and my daughter's friends were planning to go for ice cream after school. After standing in line for 20 mins in 80+ degrees heat (& only one counter opened), when I got to order a kiddie cup of vanilla for my daughter, the guy was very rude and asked me if I had a baby with me - I didnt understand the question as I didnt have a baby but my preK daughter. Then he said that the kiddie cup is only for babies and not for adults - I told him that I had a kid with me (who was playing/sitting with her friends so not in line with me). He gave me the cup for $3 and then I noticed that per their price chart a small cup of soft serve icecream was $3 too. If the kiddie cup was same price as a small cup of soft serve vanilla that I got, what was the big deal in them giving me a kiddie cup. Also, whats the big deal if me as an adult wants to eat a kid size portion of soft serve ice cream (which I would think would be the same amount as a small soft serve for same price). I am not going to go there EVER again. There are plenty of other ice cream shops in town and around where my 4 kids can get their ice cream from (nothing against the ice cream which was OK but the service sucked). read more

Ugh! I can't say ENOUGH about how great their homemade ice cream is. My favorite is the cake batter ice cream with sprinkles on top, but I have never had a bad flavor there.
