The two gentleman working the range section were nice. Employee with the joker hand tattoo was pretty rude cursing in front of customers and had an attitude. I recommend Apocalypse in Hammond if you don't mind the drive. Awesome rental section with Staccatos, PCC and suppressed stuff as well as normal handguns. Definitely not a pleasant experience for someone who buys quality products and understands they aren't cheap. But $50 for a box of Brazer Brass and $900 for an frt that sells for $450 all day is just somewhat absurd and they guy laughed when I asked did it include installation. Oh well there are plenty of other stores who respect their patrons and aren't part of the reason for the ever so slowly dying industry we all love. I've left this place with a bad experience before. Returned to see if anything's changed. Went in there with the full intention of buying a gen 5 Glock performance trigger. These guys wanted 170.00 for this trigger. The trigger's msrp is 99.99. I can understand some kind of mark up for retail but this is almost double what other shops charge for it. I simply said that's too expensive, it's 100.00 online. The worker just shrugged his shoulders and put it back. This place is clearly trying to take advantage of new gun owners. I'm glad I knew the price when I walked in there or I woulda gotten super jipped. read more

I was headed out of town on a hunting trip and went in looking to purchase rifle. I was parked outside awaiting opening and you are not getting in a second before that time. I was kinda crunched for time and went inside to find two sales men one helping a customer the other "visiting" with a patron talking and talking about nothing. I wasn't there to browse and get advice or info. I was there to purchase. I waited till the point my patience was at the limit. I interrupted and asked if they had a rifle in the caliber I was looking to purchase. They did not. I asked about a pistol I was interested in purchasing as well. He told me by of one they had and went on about pricing and models and other unrequested info about it to the point had to stop him and ask if it was available or not. He said was reserved for veterans and Law Enforcement at a substantial discount. This piqued my interest. Being a vet, I informed I did qualify. He asked for ID which was presented. He did honor my ID because it didn't look like his and wasn't issued by VA. I explained it was vetted through a third party but was a recognized form of ID. So I presented a photo copy of my DD 214. Not good enough because a few letters were cropped off in the corner. I tried to appeal to his logic that I had two forms of vetted veteran ID that his assistance would be appreciated. He blatantly told me he would not help me and I'd have to present an original. Mind you my original is over 30 years old and I don't really take it out much. But I would oblige him. I paid for the handgun and stated I'd return. The next day upon return I met with other staff members who were very helpful when they saw my original military issue document was cropped the same way when removed from the archive envelope in which its stored. I was told there was no reason the transaction couldn't have been completed on the previous visit ‍. So a lot of frustration and delay and travel for nothing. I'm not saying I won't go back but avoid August and have time to spare. read more

This place is fairly new and the nicest range around the Metairie area. The selection of firearms in the front is impressive. I've been to this shooting range about 10 times since they opened. I've always found their place clean and super well ventilated. You take measures to protect your hearing and sight, so the great ventilation assures you're not huffing powder, even when there are multiple shooters. I was in there once and was the only person shooting. I had recently had work done on a pistol and was trying out the upgrades I'd had done to it. I made a mistake that I'd never would have made had there been anybody else in there and the Range Officer came and spoke to me about it immediately. He was respectful but made clear to me my mistake. I cleared my weapon ,that had no magazine, several times after I had stepped back from the protective walls of my lane to see better. My barrel did not stay pointed down range. Like I said, I'd have NEVER done that had anyone else been in there but it was absolutely not a safe action on my part. The reason I'm exposing my fault is to complement the RO's attentiveness. Even though I WAS shooting alone, he was watching me. That made me feel really good about this place. There have been times where I was shooting at other ranges with people obviously new to shooting. Without someone watching what's going on , things can get dangerous!!!! I'm looking at my front sight and focusing on my grip and finger placement. I'm not watching what the couple in their 50's ( my age ) shooting a pistol for the first time or the 21 year old teaching his girlfriend poor and unsafe technique. It's VERY reassuring knowing someone is watching my back as well as everyone else's. You can choose your range. You can't choose or control who shoots next to you. Give this place a try if it's been a while since you've fired your weapon. Practice makes you much more proficient. I practice here regularly. I'm not perfect but I'm proficient. read more

I received excellent service at Jefferson Gun Outlet! I was in the market for a new EDC 9mm and narrowed my search to four specific models all of which the store had in stock. Although it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the salesman was friendly, helpful, and extremely patient while I tried each and lined them all up for a side-by-side size comparison. The price I paid was a little higher than I could have found elsewhere, but I couldn't stomach giving my money to a big brand-named store. It's important to me to support my local businesses. A new handgun is a significant, expensive purchase for me. It was such a relief to find a place with such great customer service to help me make the best choice for my needs and budget. Great store and really nice range. I scheduled a CHP class and was really impressed with the professional classrooms and teaching tools. Just as nice as my current classes in college. The instruction was a bit basic at times for me, but very comprehensive for a State-required training course. The gun store had some guns I haven't seen in years. Nice selection and the staff was very knowledgeable about the current laws. I decided to join their range membership program and have been practicing twice a week for the past month. In and out, nice and easy and look forward to my next range session each time. Will be shooting in their Glock club match this summer and hope to win something. read more

I went in last week to look at some items and soon as I walked in there was a guy behind the counter looking like a MAGA mannequin and he was very rude to me when I asked about the price for some AR parts so I just left without buying anything. They tried to trick me. If you know about the hellcat rdp is that it comes threaded with a comp in addition a red dot sight zeroed from the factory. MSRP $899. They tried to sell the gun to me without the red dot sight for the same price. Then claimed it wasn't a hellcat rdp but can't deny it because only the rdp comes threaded with a comp. Don't sell the gun as new without all the factory parts. Thats robbery! I would've easily paid $100 extra for the convenience but that red dot sight is worth over $300. I would not recommend taking classes at this facility. They are incredibly disorganized and have terrible communication. When I purchased my gun I signed up for a beginners class and the concealed carry class. I paid the non refundable deposits at that time. When I arrived for my first class I was told that the instructor was not there and they would have to reschedule me. They rescheduled me a week and a half later. The Morning of my rescheduled class I called to make sure that my class was still on so I didn't waist another 30 minute drive there again. I was told, "oh no, we have to reschedule, we tried to call you last week". *I had no messages from them* they rescheduled me once again. When I arrived for the third rescheduled class, which was during heavy rain and thunderstorms, I was told "they were closed". I said I had a class that had been rescheduled 3 times and I had just driven 30 minutes. They said, sorry, no electricity, we're closed" I said, you could have called, they laughed and said no electricity. I said, you could have called from a cell phone. I should also note, their phone number doesn't work. I had to call the main store to reach them. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES HERE! And Jacob needs to be fired for terrible communication, organization and lack of follow through. read more

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable although they seem to be rushed at times. Solid group of people though. I will say though, I won't be buying another firearm from this location. The prices are a-little too steep for something I can find down the road for nearly $200 to $300 cheaper than what they offer. Been going here for years to see what they have since I live so close to the store and they are always priced higher than any other place I can find and unless you have or act like you have deep pockets and a lot of money to spend they treat you like trash if they even acknowledge that you are in the store. Im in my late 20s and have found guns I'd like to buy and they treat me so poorly (if they even acknowledge that I am trying to buy something). I bought my first handgun here for $1k. Went into academy a day later and seen the same gun for $600. I was pissed. But it is my fault because I knew nothing about guns and the pricing. Also, didn't price them online because I didn't know the type of handgun I wanted. I just assumed they would have the best pricing because they specializes in guns and ammo. Some of the prices here can be much steeper than what you will find at Academy or online but the firearms sold here do come with an extra warranty on top of that offered by the manufacturers. The customer service can be lacking at times with some of the staff while in contrast their affiliated shooting range at the nearby Shooter's Club the staff are always pleasant to deal with. They offer concealed carry classes, FFL transfer service and consignment for used firearms. They also have a selection of accessories which include holsters, magazines, ammunition and law enforcement items. This store probably has the largest selection of firearms available in Jefferson and Orleans Parishes. read more

This review is for the shop only. I came in to purchase a few boxes of 115gr 9mm which were on the wall. As I entered the building reading the signs I get greeted with a guy yelling sir sir get out, we're only allowing 6 people in the store because COVID (I completely understand that but put a sign out. The current sign did not state that) So I kindly went outside with the three other people smoking (there was no line). Right as I stepped outside he let us 4 back inside (that makes no sense) he then stated I needed to wait my turn because they were in front of me. (There is no one else but us 4 there) so I'm inside and he starts helping them which I understand. The other guy starts helping the other people. Once he had one guy signing paperwork I asked if I was never asked if I needed help. I stood there for 20 minutes and nothing so I asked and was told to wait my turn. Please please please take your business elsewhere. I'm not a SJW and am extremely far right leaning but this guy was making fun of peoples sexual orientation while filling out the paperwork with a patron. The crew should be fired. Had a FFL transfer from an out of town gun shop. Went into Jefferson Guns and waited about 5 minutes to be waited on. I gave the clerk my info and transfer went easy as possible. Filled out paperwork, paid transfer fee and out the door. Before I left, clerk asked if I needed anything else and did I need any info on the gun I had transferred. Will be back. read more

I shot a 9mm on 5-16-20 with a few friends and was there around two hours, when I left I was mistakenly charged for a 50 round box of ammunition for a 40mm. When I went back in(a few min later) he was rude when he saw the receipt in my hand. He also blamed me for the charge and said that he could not refund me my money.
