LASIK eye correction surgery. Dr Singer is known throughout the region for being the best at Lasik. I first heard about Dr Singer from my boss and a close friend of mine who both had the surgery done by this Dr. For a few yrs I've been interested in the surgery and recently I finally inquired about it. There are a few companies in the area that specialize in Lasik, but there are so many hidden costs that are not mentioned until it's too late. As advertise by multiple places, $299 an eye is not the actual cost. Expensive exams, medications, Dr visits, and different eye strengths, can cause the price to reach higher then what is in your initial budget. I signed up for the free consultation and met up with the office staff, and I was given a go ahead that my eyes were healthy enough to get the surgery. I was given two options to go with for the surgery but the doctor saw that I may have glaucoma so he told me that the bladeless version of Lasik would be best for me, due to the pressure that would be involved in the surgery. The bladeless surgery is a bit more pricer then the normal Lasik surgery. Dr. Singer knocked off $500 of the price and I decided that since it was only a few dollars passed my budget, I would still be able to get the surgery. On the day of the surgery I went in for 3 o'clock. I was given medication to help me relax and an hour later I was ready for surgery. I was scared out of my mind before the medication kicked in, but once I relaxed I had no worries. The first step of the procedure I was placed on a table for the first part of the surgery which was the part where my the machine is placed on your eye and the pupil is cut. It only took less than a minute for each eye. The staff walked me over to the second table where the flap was folded back and the laser did it's magic. That step only took about 4 minute for each eye. And believe it or not I was finished. The prep time and waiting for the meds to kick in is the reason there is a 3 hr duration. The recovery time for my surgery was only that evening and night. I was given sleeping pills right before I walked out of the doctor's office. By the time I got to my house I was ready for bed. It was extremely recommended that I sleep through the night and that I did. The next morning I awoke and my vision was a bit blurry but that was only because I had transparent bandages on my pupils. The last step for the whole process was to get the bandages off of pupils that I did not even know I had on. I was only told that I had bandages on my pupils when I got them off on this follow-up day right after the surgery. Once they were removed the blurriness that I experienced that morning and immediately after, was gone. My vision correction surgery, was complete. It's been 4 weeks since my Lasik and I am extremely proud of the decision I made to get the surgery, there are no regrets. This is my personal experience with Dr. Singer, of course everyone situation and cost may be different. Money spent..... $150 (for the expensive photos that were needed to be taken for eye health issues. That was my deductible from my health Insurance plan that the doctor was able to use) (LASIK is not covered by any insurance plans) $150 (the eye evaluation after it is determined that I was a candidate) $3150 (Bladeless LASIK...the price for both eyes, but the Dr. gave me $500 off) $418 (medication, $210 eye drops, $192 for eye drops, and $16 for sleeping pills, but with the coupons that the doctor gave me at the pre-op, my medication cost ended up being only $50. (Please get those coupons!!) My current vision should last 10+ yrs depending on my aging process. I've had not one problem since the surgery. If I have to get my eyes corrected again, I will definitely be back to Dr Singer. read more

I am completely satisfied with my experience & results with the Haley-Singer team. They exceeded the expectations of my imagination. 1 month after the surgery I now possess 20/25 vision. Beforehand, I could not see the big E during an eye exam without my glasses. At this time my eyes are quite healed, though they will continue to get better, and my vision is likely to further improve. I am not having difficulty with blurred vision or other common and relatively short-term post-surgery side effects. Summary of Haley-Singer pros: No hidden fees; great pricing; great service package; compassionate, passionate, experienced doctors; knowledgeable clinical staff at all levels; clear & concise verbal & written communication every step of the way provided by doctors and all clinical staff; flexible; comfortable & well-kept office locations. Summary of cons: I can't think of any suggestions for improvement, and I have not experienced any dissatisfactions at this point. Experience of pros in detail: No Hidden Fees: Originally, I went to another doctor for an assessment to see if I qualified for PRK. That doctor's equipment failed and he referred me to Dr. Singer's office. From the beginning, my first phone conversation with one of the Haley-Singer clerical workers, I had received very a clear and direct understanding of the expenses verbally and in documentation. Great Pricing: I found that receiving PRK treatment from Haley-Singer team was a few hundred dollars cheaper than from other clinics. Additionally, I found the medicine to not be a great expense. the necessary antibiotic and steroid eye drops were generic brands, as far as I understand after co-paying with my health insurance, so they were not costly. I did not fill the prescription for the pain or sleep medicine (not recommended by the doctor),so I am not sure about the costliness of those items. Great Service Package: The services are all included in the surgery fee, including the required follow up appointments. This was great because it relieved me of uncertainties regarding appointment scheduling and financials during the time of recovery. Moreover, I learned that if extra follow up appointments were needed, then they would most likely be given as part of the package deal. Compassionate & Passionate: Dr. Singer recommended that I get High Definition PRK based on my characteristics. Regardless, I selected to only get PRK because I could not really afford the upgrade since I just graduated from college. After learning about my situation he upgraded me to High Definition PRK and only charged me for getting standard PRK. The fact that he did this let me know he truly believes in his recommendations as a doctor and cares about his patients. Dr. Estrada conducts charitable work in a foreign country to help people obtain glasses that they would not otherwise be able to get for one reason or another. The fact of that in conjunction with my experience with her solidified my impression of her as being a most compassionate doctor that is deeply committed to medicine and humanitarianism. Experienced: Dr. Singer is recognized as having the most experience with performing PRK and LASIK surgery in the New Orleans region. I learned this from websites that share summarized stats of doctors work experience. The stats showed me that Dr. Singer has performed the most PRK & Lasik surgeries in the New Orleans area comparatively. This provided confidence and his work experience was recognized intuitively when meeting him and receiving the surgery. Knowledgeable staff at all levels: Each type of worker of the Haley-Singer team that I communicated with was able to answer my questions. They have the knowledge of their services understood like the back of their hand. Clear and concise communication: All verbal and oral instructions were clear and simple to understand. The documents are printed with great tact in mind. Each document is provided with extra-large print that is most helpful especially when trying to read during initial stages of recovery. Moreover, during the surgery, Dr. Singer explained each thing that was going to happen and its purpose. This was very reliving since the PRK surgery had some very strange experiences that were reminiscent of science fiction films. Flexible: As I said, I did not choose to use painkillers or sleeping medication for recovery. Additionally, I chose to use a bus to get home after the operation. Both of these things are not recommended for this type of operation by doctors, in general. Despite my going against Dr. Singer's recommendations, I received the utmost kindness, concern, and useful tips for making it through the painful and difficult experience my choice entailed. Did my lasik and my eyes are great (a bit dry but that was expected after talking to others). My only issue with this office is that EVERY appointment (pre-op, post-op, regular check up) I've had to wait MINIMUM one hour after my scheduled appointment and when I'm finally seen it's for max 5 minutes. Friendly staff who, when you treat them with dignity and respect, return the same to you during every single step of the process. Dr.s D and Singer are miracle workers and make you feel at ease during every visit and every step of the way. Went in for my free consult and the nurse/doctor lady that did the consult, I'm guessing because they are free, she did about 1000 more before me and I was lucky number 1001. Her attitude poorly reflected her mood. She was short, to the point and didn't stick around long enough for me to ask very many questions of get comfortable with the office. I waited about a month after my consult so I could shop around and compare other doctors and plus I wasn't really sold on the rudeness of the woman that I had the consult with. I understand they probably get a lot of people who waste their time with the free consultations but customer service should be number one. Making the potential client 100% comfortable with your staff and the actual procedure would have been my number one concern. I ended up scheduling my procedure with them anyways, despite the woman's attitude and was presently surprised to find that the rest of the staff was very eager to answer any of my questions and help me get all the information I needed. The office is very busy and the procedure only took maybe 5 minutes to do. The pain in the butt part was the fact that I had to wait two hours for the valume to actually kick in before the procedure. On the day of the procedure dr Jeffrey singer came in and took a look at my eyes and told me that I should go with the custom eye LASIK which was about $600 more than the price I had already paid. He said it was best because it would eliminate the starbursts around lights at night time and the results would just be better all together. So I agreed and paid the extra money. But looking back I wish I would have made it a point to see dr singer pre-op so maybe he would have had the chance to explain this to me instead of just finding out the day of. Other than that, I highly recommend the procedure, whether or not you choose this office. My results were immediate. I could see instantly and the actual procedure involved no pain at all. And over the following week my vision got clearer. This place had the best results, latest technology, most affordable price and the reviews on the doctors were great. Couldn't beat it. read more

I have nothing to compare it to...but my experience with LASIK with Dr. Singer was great. I was fully informed about the procedures; given something to relax the day of the procedure; the LASIK itself only took a few minutes; and I went home and slept until the next day. It isn't cheap, but it is much less expensive than it was years ago. I have worn glasses since the 7th grade and love not having to wear them now. The cost of frames are so expensive that you make up the cost of LASIK in a manner of a few years. I highly recommend getting the procedure and my understanding is that Dr. Singer is the best in the City. I thought he was excellent. On a side note, I did not experience dry eye but I did initially see a halo around lights during evening hours...but it slowly went away after a few weeks. read more

I was referred to Dr. Singer after another ophthalmologist left me legally blind. I demanded to be referred to the best eye doctor in the state. My records were sent to Dr. Singer for review. When I had my first visit he had already reviewed my medical history. After Dr. Singer examined my eyes and took extensive measurements, he carefully took the time to explain how he would restore my eyesight. I had lasik done in 2015 to correct my nearsided eyes. Over a year later now and my worst nightmare has come true. Dry eyes after surgery and sensitivity to light especially while driving has NOT gotten better post- operation. After reading other reviews I found out that this is not uncommon which leads me to believe that the Dr knew this would happen. They are only in it for the money because when I called to explain they claimed that these symptoms are not from the surgery. They do not care about their patients, please do your research before you make the same mistake. read more

I wore glasses since 5th grade. I never thought I would be able to go without contacts or glasses. Dr Singer preformed Bladeless lasik on my eyes about 5 months ago and I see better now then I did with contacts. My vision is now 20/15. It was not a painful procedure. Dr. Singer is an amazing doctor, an extremely talented and skilled surgeon, who genuinely cares about his patients like family. I was terribly near sighted my for most of my life. I went to him for LASIK surgery, and I see wonderful now. He also saved my eye when I had a foreign object stuck in it, and has helped me with my dry eyes. On top of this, he has helped and saved other members of my family with serious eye problems. I have been wearing glasses since I was in 3rd grade and by the time I had reached my mid 20s I was sick and tired of the contacts routine, plus it was a costly annual expense for new contacts and/or glasses. I finally got up the courage to to get LASIK done on both my eyes and left wondering why did I wait so long!? From start to finish Dr. Singer and staff were professional and answered all my questions to make me feel very comfortable. Once I knew I was a candidate I scheduled my procedure. The entire process took about 5 minutes and I was instructed to sleep the rest of the day because I would experience blurred vision. I took a prescribed sleeping pill and conked out for 8 hours. When I woke up I was floored that I was able to read my clock with my own eyes! I could SEE! I went for a follow up appointment the next day and followed their instructions on prescribed eye drops for 2 weeks. I would suggest anyone with a vision impairment to get LASIK and go to Dr. Singer! It pays for itself after a few years. It's been a year since I got my eyes corrected and its amazing to have naturally perfect vision. read more

Honestly I don't know if Dr Singer is good or not. My appointment was scheduled for 11:15 am - I was ask to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out their paperwork - At 12:10 pm I was still sitting in the waiting room - in the chair next to me was a Skeleton holding a sign that said "Still waiting for Dr Singer - wish I had brought a Novel" . Silly me I thought it was a joke, but after waiting over an hour and not seeing the Doctor, I realized - they know they have poor scheduling skills and they really don't care about your time at all. The office staff, indicated this is normal and they were not concerned in the least about the amount of time I was waiting. They did say "you're next" but when I ask if that just meant I would be moved to the exam room and left to wait more, the answer was "well yes there are a lot of people here" ! I ask for my paperwork back and left. I will look for another Doctor whose office staff realizes that an appointment is the time a patient expects to be seen not the time they just think you should show up and wait.. and wait.. and wait. read more

My lasix surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Singer. Unfortunately, my experience with his office personnel was nothing short of horrible. My appt. was 1:30 and I arrived at 1:15. After everyone who was in waiting room had been called back (this was now after 3:00 p.m.) I asked receptionist if they had forgotten me and she didn't even check with anyone she just said that it takes awhile. Finally, I was called back around 3:15 and when I asked the nurse instead of apologizing for forgetting me she accused me of leaving waiting room because she said my name was called earlier. That was totally untrue as I didn't leave waiting room for 2 hours! She then led me to an exam room and never disclosed was happening next. Dr. Singer came in around 3:45 and said he doesn't know what happened but that maybe his staff had mistakenly set me up for surgery in the Baton Rouge location instead of Metairie. Dr. Singer knew I was upset (almost to the point of canceling my procedure) so he wanted me to go ahead and take the valium--I told him that I wanted him to answer some questions first about the procedure. He said I should have read the packet. His incompetent staff did not send a packet to me. So I then find out I was supposed to start antibiotic drops the day before surgery and, of course, knew nothing about that. Dr. Singer assured me that I didn't need drops and did procedure around 4:40 p.m. He put me in exam room after procedure and told us to wait for someone to put a shield over my eye. No one ever came and my husband went and found someone and she promptly told him, "Nobody told me." Obviously, no one knew I was there--nightmare! read more
