Staff always different. Probably due to poor management skills w/ way too many tests. I wouldn't walk, but run as fast as you can.

Bathroom was in need of attention. It is a large practice. I wanted to go to the uptown office but because I wanted evaluation for cataracts, I had to go to the Metairie office. I was seen by a technician who wore sweatpants as a uniform. Seriously? She did the refraction. Several times I told her that the images were NOT clear to me. Eyes examined and seen by Dr. Kurica who said I didn't have cataracts. Great. Given an rx and he said, "It's practically the same as your old one; I just tweaked it a bit". Got glasses made at Costco and the rx was WAY off. Costco said there was a BIG difference between previous rx and new one. Definitely not a "tweaking". Tried to get a return appointment for correction and was told I had to see same doctor and got an appointment for 3 weeks later! For second visit, the waiting room was completely packed. Several people in wheelchairs. Was seen by same technician as first time. When I explained my situation she immediately blamed Costco for error. When I pointed out that the rx he gave me was significantly different from my previous rx, in spite of him telling me he only "tweaked it", she said, "Well his idea of tweaking is bigger than our idea of it". ???? Went back to waiting room but it was so crowded I chose to wait in the hall. Looked like a COVID factory in there. My appointment was at 1:45. By 3:00 I still had not seen the doctor. I asked a few times about the delay and was told they were really busy (obviously). Clearly he was over scheduled. Finally I grabbed the doc between exam rooms and told him I'd been there since 1:45. Shortly after I was roomed. Doctor came in and did his own refraction and admitted the technician did it wrong. Gave me new rx. So I had two visits and an afternoon blown because of technician's incompetence. Not to mention time and material wasted by Costco. Now I have to go back and get another pair. I do not recommend this practice. No offense to Dr. Kurica but his staff needs training and improved dress code to look professional, and scheduling needs correction.

LASIK eye correction surgery. Dr Singer is known throughout the region for being the best at…read moreLasik. I first heard about Dr Singer from my boss and a close friend of mine who both had the surgery done by this Dr. For a few yrs I've been interested in the surgery and recently I finally inquired about it. There are a few companies in the area that specialize in Lasik, but there are so many hidden costs that are not mentioned until it's too late. As advertise by multiple places, $299 an eye is not the actual cost. Expensive exams, medications, Dr visits, and different eye strengths, can cause the price to reach higher then what is in your initial budget. I signed up for the free consultation and met up with the office staff, and I was given a go ahead that my eyes were healthy enough to get the surgery. I was given two options to go with for the surgery but the doctor saw that I may have glaucoma so he told me that the bladeless version of Lasik would be best for me, due to the pressure that would be involved in the surgery. The bladeless surgery is a bit more pricer then the normal Lasik surgery. Dr. Singer knocked off $500 of the price and I decided that since it was only a few dollars passed my budget, I would still be able to get the surgery. On the day of the surgery I went in for 3 o'clock. I was given medication to help me relax and an hour later I was ready for surgery. I was scared out of my mind before the medication kicked in, but once I relaxed I had no worries. The first step of the procedure I was placed on a table for the first part of the surgery which was the part where my the machine is placed on your eye and the pupil is cut. It only took less than a minute for each eye. The staff walked me over to the second table where the flap was folded back and the laser did it's magic. That step only took about 4 minute for each eye. And believe it or not I was finished. The prep time and waiting for the meds to kick in is the reason there is a 3 hr duration. The recovery time for my surgery was only that evening and night. I was given sleeping pills right before I walked out of the doctor's office. By the time I got to my house I was ready for bed. It was extremely recommended that I sleep through the night and that I did. The next morning I awoke and my vision was a bit blurry but that was only because I had transparent bandages on my pupils. The last step for the whole process was to get the bandages off of pupils that I did not even know I had on. I was only told that I had bandages on my pupils when I got them off on this follow-up day right after the surgery. Once they were removed the blurriness that I experienced that morning and immediately after, was gone. My vision correction surgery, was complete. It's been 4 weeks since my Lasik and I am extremely proud of the decision I made to get the surgery, there are no regrets. This is my personal experience with Dr. Singer, of course everyone situation and cost may be different. Money spent..... $150 (for the expensive photos that were needed to be taken for eye health issues. That was my deductible from my health Insurance plan that the doctor was able to use) (LASIK is not covered by any insurance plans) $150 (the eye evaluation after it is determined that I was a candidate) $3150 (Bladeless LASIK...the price for both eyes, but the Dr. gave me $500 off) $418 (medication, $210 eye drops, $192 for eye drops, and $16 for sleeping pills, but with the coupons that the doctor gave me at the pre-op, my medication cost ended up being only $50. (Please get those coupons!!) My current vision should last 10+ yrs depending on my aging process. I've had not one problem since the surgery. If I have to get my eyes corrected again, I will definitely be back to Dr Singer.

If they don't, then they shouldn't be handling anybody's insurance claims. Second, if you don't want to have people use certain insurance or parts of certain insurance, then post it on your website and take yourself off of the insurance company's website. I spoke with my excellent insurance I have since I retired as a federal agent. This insurance company (Aetna Preferred) informed me that you choose to stay on their website. My wife also has what they call an EYEMED Identifier number which specifically covers her for great eye care. My wife has been going to you for a while. Insurance seems to be an issue with your Business. I never have issues with other places.. If you choose just to take primary medical insurance, then let the customers know. Don't treat the insurance companies like a buffet And pick and choose what parts of what insurance are you going to take. Incidentally, The reason "I"only went there once was because of a similar insurance snafu with MetLife under my fed coverage. It took 20 minutes for the lady at the desk to figure out that I was covered. My wife continued to go there because she liked the convenience and the service. The people who handle insurance need to be schooled and how to handle claims and how to look up who's covered and who's not. Bottom Line. It shouldn't be a task just for a simple eye exam or any eye care. Feel free to call me anytime about this.

Formal Feedback - PRK Procedure Experience I am providing…read morefeedback on my recent PRK procedure experience, which fell significantly short in terms of coordination, consistency, and overall patient care. To begin, I was very concerned to find there is no onsite physician available for most patient interactions. The majority of care appears to be handled by office staff (whose clinical qualifications were not clearly communicated). While the staff was friendly and courteous throughout my visits, it is clear they are being placed in a position where they are expected to manage clinical responsibilities without adequate support or direct physician presence. This ultimately sets both staff and patients up for a poor experience. My only pre-procedure consultation was conducted via video with a doctor who was not performing my surgery. This approach felt disconnected and did not provide sufficient opportunity for meaningful discussion or informed decision-making. On the day of the procedure, my interaction with the physician was extremely brief and did not allow time for thorough questions or consideration. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was given instructions and Tylenol PM by front desk staff. This felt inappropriate and non-clinical, especially compared to my previous PRK experience in 2014, which included more direct physician involvement and comprehensive preparation. During the procedure, I repeatedly communicated significant anxiety and sensitivity related to eye contact. Despite this, no effort was made to offer additional support or medication to address anxiety. Only numbing drops were provided, which did nothing to address the level of distress I experienced. There was no discussion or offer of options such as a mild sedative, which I later learned is commonly provided in other practices. The lack of coordination became more apparent during follow-up: I called the day before to confirm whether I needed a driver and was explicitly told I did not. I also proactively raised concerns about a severe storm and asked whether appointments were being adjusted, but staff were unable to provide clear guidance. The following morning, while already en route, I received a call just 15 minutes before my appointment stating the office would not open until 1:00 PM. This was extremely frustrating given my attempt to plan ahead. At my follow-up visit, there was again no onsite physician. The removal of the protective contact lens was attempted by staff, which was particularly difficult given I had clearly expressed my anxiety and lack of experience with contacts. The first attempt was unsuccessful. When I requested numbing drops, the staff had to seek permission from a doctor via video. Even after numbing, the process was extremely painful and distressing. I also encountered serious inconsistencies in medication instructions, which is unacceptable: I was initially given a detailed steroid drop regimen: Day 1: every 15 minutes Week 1: 4 times per day Week 2: 3 times per day Week 4: once per day At my follow-up, the doctor told me these were "old instructions" and instead directed me to take the drops only twice daily until finished. This level of conflicting guidance creates confusion and potential risk. If protocols have changed, patient materials and staff instructions must be updated immediately to ensure consistency. There was also a clear lack of communication across providers. During my follow-up, the physician asked why PRK was chosen instead of LASIK, indicating that my case had not been reviewed in advance. This raised serious concerns about how patient records are being managed and whether care is coordinated at all. Additionally, I was informed during the follow-up that my vision was 20/50 and did not meet the 20/40 requirement for driving--directly contradicting what I had been told the day before when I was advised a driver was not necessary. This placed me in a potentially unsafe situation that could have been avoided with accurate guidance. Overall, the experience was disjointed, impersonal, and lacked the level of clinical oversight expected for a surgical procedure. Had I known this was the care model--including limited physician access, reliance on virtual consultations, inconsistent medication instructions, and poor communication--I would not have proceeded at this location. For comparison, a family member recently had the same procedure at another practice and received a significantly higher level of care, including: An in-person consultation with the operating physician Antibiotic drops started 3 days prior to the procedure Medication support (Valium during the procedure and Ambien for recovery) Clear, consistent, and coordinated care instructions I am sharing this feedback with the expectation that your organization will take a serious look at its patient care model, improve communication and coordination, and ensure that both patients and staff are adequately supported moving forward.
