I was skeptical about some of these reviews I read before going in to see Dr Visotsky but, I was highly impressed with his bed side manners and his extremely high knowledge towards my shoulder injury. His staff was A+ and made me very comfortable I did not wait so long to see him and even though he has a fast pace way he gave me plenty of time to discuss and diagnose my injury. He was very honest and went over a game plan to get me better. He showed compassion towards my injury and made me feel a lot better. I am glad I ignored some of the negative reviews and went to see him. Thank you very much Dr for your help with my frozen shoulder. I was sent to see this Dr. Several years ago , he talked to me with his hand on the doorknob, never even took a look at what I was telling him. He was huffy & rude The appt. was less then 5 min & then writes my primary Dr. a long letter stating I need to see a pain Dr. saying that I was at a pain clinic before & had epidural injections.) this topic never was discussed, nor was I ever to a pain clinic. I went to Dr. Visotsky for a DeQuervain's release on my right hand. I knew what I needed, I've spent years with the problem and it was time to get it fixed. The surgery went perfectly, I will probably go back to him for the left hand in 6 months. He is absolutely a technically proficient surgeon and I would not hesitate to trust him to do his job. That being said: his physician's assistant has a better bedside manner, and she actually listens to you. If you need a diagnosis and you are nervous, concerned, or have questions- he might not be the guy for you. When I first met him the first five minutes of the appointment were about the rest of my medical history - he was second guessing other doctors - and not my thumb. He does not effectively communicate information, either. I was told I would be getting the cast off a week after surgery, and while this was TECHNICALLY true, another one went immediately on. So... they/he should have said "we will replace the cast in a week" but they all said it comes off in a week. There were a few things like that, including my four week post op appointment being canceled with no notice due to an unscheduled vacation by the good doctor. Like I said - I will be going to him again for the left thumb, but if I had an undiagnosed issue, I might seek a different doctor who would listen to me and I felt I could ask questions of - neither of which I feel are Dr. Visotksy's specialties. read more

I'm honestly in shock by the two reviews posted about Dr. Visotsky. I couldn't disagree more. I really like the doctor and his staff...can't say enough good things about them. Every visit I've seen the same team people who have taken the time to remember even the littlest things about me....e.g, I hate pink. Yes, the doctor visits are short (as others complained about) but a better way to describe them is efficient. They answered all my questions and made sure I understood what laid ahead. I never felt that I was being rushed out or not being tended to thoroughly. This goes for my appointments before and after my surgery. I broke my wrist and had to have surgery (plate and screws) to repair the break. My surgery went very well and almost three weeks out of surgery, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well my arm is doing. My scar is healing nicely (which I was of course worried about) and that is due to how well my stitches and staples were done. I have great motion back already and it gets better daily. Dr. Visotsky is an excellent surgeon. His staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Actually, everyone I've dealt with so far at Illinois Bone & Joint ( Morton Grove and Des Plaines) have been great. If you are unfortunate enough to have a hand, wrist or arm injury, I very much recommend Dr. Visotsky. (He's not a Podiatrist like the category says either. Don't know how he was categorized that way. I will try to get that changed.) read more

I've been seeing Dr Visotsky for various injuries over the years: cortizone injections, trigger-finger surgery and even a total shoulder replacement. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my right arm. He and his staff have are very friendly and efficient. They can be, because they know what they're doing! They always give me plenty of attention and will answer any questions without making me feel rushed. And for those of you that have never been to a orthopedics office... Most see many patients at one time. And yes, their CNA's and PA's are HIGHLY KNOWLEDGEABLE. Most of the ones at Dr. Visotsky's have been with him for 10 years or more. They are the best in their field. They prepare you for the doctor, so you get the best of his valuable time. He can't help it if it only takes a few minutes for your diagnosis. He's that good! If you need to talk to someone about your problems, go see a shrink- I highly recommend Dr Visotsky at IB&J. read more

Dr. Visotsky has not only treated my ENTIRE family including myself, but I have also had the Honor of working for him for the past 19Years. I retired at the age of 38, back in October 2018. Dr. Visotsky is the most GIFTED, LOYAL, GIVING, TALENTED, KNOWLEDGEABLE ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON, I have ever met. He deserves to be Recognized for ALL his hard work and Pure DEDICATION to his field. Dr. Visotsky, Jeffrey has taken a lot of shit in the past because he is Dedicated and has incredible skills. I have watched him help people with No Money, No Insurance because he cares about people. My family member had surgery with Dr. Visotsky a few years back and has dealt with significant pain since that time. I have a medical background and have gone back through the imaging and operative note, and want to warn others to stay away from this surgeon. I've reviewed the operative note with an orthopedic surgeon at a top tier institution who said he hasn't used the techniques Dr. Visotsky did in over 15 years. Dr. Visotsky also performed a procedure for patients in their 60s on an adolescent which was completely unnecessary. He also billed for a surgery he did not fully perform. 100% agree with Joshua B's review. I cannot emphasize enough that you need to get a second opinion before you let someone you care about near this surgeon and frankly would never let anyone get surgery from someone doing such outdated procedures and inexperienced with the standard of care. Stay away from this surgeon and do not trust him with your shoulder. read more

Dr. Visotsky is a total fraud. I went to go see him regarding a torn rotator in my shoulder. He said that the surgery would be standard procedure. When I woke up I saw several scars on top of my shoulder. He said that I he also wanted to alleviate impingement which was never an issue with my shoulder. Basically he doubled his income during surgery by doing additional procedures. Not only did my shoulder not feel any better, the discomfort is actually worse due to the additional unnecessary surgery. Now I have an even worse shoulder and ugly scars while the Doctor collected $60,000 from me and my insurance company. Hes a total fraud!! Beware !! read more

I saw Dr. Visotsky three times over two years. Each time was the same. It appears that he is seeing 3-4 patients all at one time, I heard him talking to patients in adjacent rooms. He is in & out so quickly and talks very fast. As a patient I did not feel that I had the doctor's full attention nor did he listen to me. Once he left and I assumed he was going to come back into the exam room as he never said goodbye. He made a mistake on my office visit record that only was known when I chose to bring my business to a different doctor. I had to make an second appointment for a shot because he wrote that I had received a shot in my last visit which was incorrect as I had only one shot and that months before. So the new doctor couldn't try another shot as it can't be more than one every three months. It was a hassle getting his staff to fix the error and I got no apology from his staff, rather an excuse that sometimes the machine that records the summary makes errors. The facility is a factory and you are not treated as an individual- but they are very on top of the billing/insurance area of the business. Overall I would not recommend him or the Morton grove facility- it is much better at other IBJA locations. read more

Terrible service and total lack of caring. Met with Doctor for literally 1 minute and then his nurse practioner explained the procedure and need for followup care. Scheduled me for a Thursday at their surgical center knowing they would never do me there due to my BMI , and when I found out the Monday evening before the procedure I was cancelled, they gave me a date a month away.They knew I was on a time line for when I needed it to be done and swore and I mean swore if I didn't get that Thursday I would be on the Wedsnesday before. Told me I could try other hand doctors in the group but didn't help me to get in to see them and it was like starting all over again. His procedure planner couldn't have cared less. Boy, was friendly when we started but any problems, forget dealing woth this hiuge practice. read more

My family and I are patients of Dr. Visotsky and IBJI for a long time. His professional skills as orthopedic specialist are impeccable. Here I would like to commend the doctor for his humane care about financial matters of his patients, which is by my experience rather rare. Recently only direct doctor's involvement into seemigly helpless communications between IBJI billing department and Medicare saved the IBJI and me a sizable amount of money. Dr. Visotsky is an excellent doctor. He did my carpal tunnel procedure 10 years ago and it is still perfect to this day. He takes a tremendous amount of pride in his work. I saw him again recently for the first time since then. He knows exactly what needs to be done and does it the fullest and healed me both times. I want to address the short time the patient spends with him. This is a team approach. First you see an introductory person who gets the basics and then starts the x-ray person. Then you will see a nurse who is PHENOMENAL. She was there 10 years ago and is always the person you see immediately before Dr. Visotsky. She is highly knowledgeable, patient and friendly. When you think about this business, it is loaded with pulling, pushing, feeling, testing motion, movement, "does it hurt when I do this?" She does all of this stuff. I was with her at least 10 minutes, maybe 15. She gets all the information makes sketches to explain to the patient what the issue is, and is highly compassionate. She is obviously highly trusted and she moves it along. The wait is way too long as it is too see all these IBJ doctors, if Dr. Visotsky did all this fact gathering, the wait would be triple what it is now. In my case I had tendonitis and needed a cortisone shot. When Dr. Visotsky came in, it was for 5 minutes max. He reviewed the x-ray, confirmed the nurse's findings and gave me the shot. I asked a few questions and that was the end of the appointment. If you think of the time spent with him as needing to be a lot, you will be highly disappointed. I was treated for over 30 minutes and was highly satisfied. Dr. Visotsky did what he needed to do and I appreciate their team approach. The hand holding and working together to find the problem is done by the nurse. He is the solution man at the end. If you think the nurse is just a warm up act until the real doctor comes in, then you are not understanding their team approach. Be sure to have all your questions lined up because once he steps out of the office he is gone for good. But you have 20 minutes discussing your issues with other people which gives you plenty of time to formulate your thoughts. His business is doing just fine, he is a master at the upper body area in which he specializes and doesn't need my help. But after a second successful treatment, I want to not only highly recommend him but to explain the process of that office. It threw me for a loop the first time, but second time around, I really appreciate how efficiently they work. read more

Honestly, I can't say he's a good doctor based on the little time I spent with him. I saw him for a worker comp ordered IME. He barely examined my hands and elbows. He was in the room for, maybe, 10 minutes. He had to have a report in to the insurance office 2 weeks after. He took an extra week. Now, they are asking for clarification on some of that report and he can't seem to get the info in. Meanwhile, I have no money coming in because he can't respond. He could care less about the patient. He only cares about the money in his pocket. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. And I speak from experience. 2 years worth. I made the mistake of seeing Visotsky as my second opinion for a work comp shoulder/elbow injury. As such, I was stuck with him as you only get two doctors in work comp. 2 surgeries later, I am not much better off. I agree with the prior reviews, Visotsky and his staff could care less about you once you commit to the surgery. They are very nice and accommodating while reeling you in. They can't do enough for you in order to schedule the surgery including checking your insurance or quickly calling you back when you have questions. But BEWARE, once you have had the surgery, you are dead to them. I called 5 days after the surgery and after hours and several days of not having the office call me back, I called visotskys answering service and he called. Obviously disturbed that he had to call me at all, he didn't even remember who I was or that I was his recent patient. I realize he has a lot of patients but 5 days? He could have at least made some effort to review my chart prior to calling. This office never takes your call and promises to call you back within 24 hrs. I can tell you I made dozens of calls and they never call back. I spoke with the office manager among others. None of it mattered. Mind you, the surgery was painful and recovery was involved. So I had questions and refill requests which were next to impossible to get. When you did get to see him during your visits, he made you wait forever and spent two minutes with you. I learned a very valuable lesson you should be aware of if you are forced to use him.. When he sees you, he will disingenuously exam you for a few minutes and then tell you he will be right back. He never. Ever Will come back. Ever. He will send in his nurse to give you your dismissal slip. If you think you will get the chance to ask a question, forget it. This happened every time until I figured it out. Don't let him leave the room until you get everything answered. The final insult was that he told me I was at maximum medical improvement and there was nothing more he could do. I told him it still hurt. He said it would for awhile and dismissed me. 4 months later it is getting worse and I have numbness in my hand. I call to have him check it out and his office says that because he declared me MMI, work comp was not going to pay. I would have to pay. Now I told him it still hurt so I would think he would have left the case open and evaluate me again a while later. But where's the money in that? The most troubling thing is I recommended two friends to him based on the initial treatment before the surgery. They are now enduring what I did. I feel so much guilt over those recommendations that i am writing this review. I recommend strongly that you avoid Jeffrey Visotsky. read more

In one word HORRIBLE! I was referred to this doctor by the ER of Lutheran General Hospital after getting hurt at work. The hospital staff was very friendly and helpful to my healthcare needs. I wish I could say the same for the staff of Dr. Visotsky. First they scheduled an oppointment but when I mentioned workers comp they brought out every excuse not to treat or help me. I had the form from my employer and from the Dept of Labor but they needed more. They wanted a case number/ agent that wouldnt be available for a week. Because my main concern was my injury I offered the option of going thru my own insurance and inquired about the co-pay. The secretary said no! That I needed a $325 deposit cash or credit and I couldn't use my own insurance. That's when I knew that this doctors office primary concern is money and NOT a patients health. No one should tell you that you can't use your own insurance that you pay for every month. STAY AWAY! Nedless to say Icancelled my appointment and never saw the doctor.So many good doctors out there,explore your options. read more
