This has been my dentist for approximately 4 years. For the last 3-4 visits I've booked my next visit as soon as I'm walking out the door. The last 3-4 times they've said the soonest they can get me in is 9-10 months from now. I find it absolutely infuriating and like they have overextended themselves so many patients that they are unable to provide standard care. I don't like going to the dentist but I like being able to take care of my teeth. I like using the 2 visits a year I get from my insurance that I pay good money for. That is not happening when visits are 9-10 months apart. I am not receiving standardized care and it's distressing that it's been happening and only continues to get worse. I've tried the cancellation list each time to get in at the 6 month mark, but only was texted 1-2 times with visit times that absolutely didn't work. This week they booked me for their next available in July 2025, and then January 2026. They told me they've closed their cancellation list so I should call to get in 6 months from this week. They also told me this week I need a crown. I'm aggravated because had I gotten in 3 months ago when my 6 month visit should have happened, maybe this crown would be less extensive. Honestly, it makes me want to leave the practice but I'm having a hard time finding a dentist with not horrible reviews who takes my insurance. read more

Was first a patient back in 2014 and stayed with this office for several years before I moved towards Denver. Came back recently and had an appointment, and they told me they couldn't schedule another one for 10 months. 6 months is the basic standard for teeth cleaning recommended by every single dentist I've spoken to in my life. I am distressed. This has been my dentist for many years. They have been accommodating in the past but I do find them to be very expensive. Today I called with a dental emergency. I have a very high tolerance for discomfort but when my tooth broke and started getting an abscess and I couldn't eat much over the weekend, I decided I should call. I also am leaving town for 2 weeks so that is of concern to me. I don't want to get an infection in my bone. It already hurts a lot and is giving me jaw/neck/head pain. The receptionist was dismissive, at best. Despite the fact that I told her I could be there at a moment's notice (I live 3 minutes away) she refused to have anyone see me today to see if they are concerned. It would have taken them 5 minutes at most. She said there are busy with other patients who are actually in pain and said it didn't look that bad (based on a super grainy picture they asked me to take of my back teeth). I'm sitting here fuming. Going to the dentist is scary enough. Going for a dental emergency is scarier. Trying to find a new dentist the day before you are leaving town feels like too much today. p.s. I paid for their upgraded annual service. It's a total waste. The dentist and staff were super friendly, the imaging tools helped me to see what's going on with each tooth in real time, and the interior design was really calming (including the massage feature on the chair.). While my tooth extraction itself was fine (and the dentist did accommodate me quickly for a procedure, thank you) the follow up care was awful. I contacted the after hours line multiple times over the weekend in excruciating pain and was repeatedly told "this is normal, take a deep breath" before eventually being told "go to the ER" without any willingness to even see me. Today I was treated elsewhere for the cause of my pain: a dry socket and an infection that didn't clear at all, and was not dismissed once. read more

Exceptionally skilled and knowledgeable with the latest technology, AND the best dentist-chair-side manner I've ever experienced. An honest straight shooter who will encourage 2nd and 3rd opinions - whatever you need to have confidence with your care. Keep looking if that's how you want to spend your time, but you are not going to find a better dentist in Boulder or possibly anywhere. Seriously. I found Dr. Patrician online based on his excellent reviews, but I was uncertain what to do and who to trust with my newly broken front tooth. In addition to the cosmetic issues, things can go terribly wrong in a hurry if someone botches this kind of work, and the impact on your health in general is not trivial. Needless to say, I was anxious, and being between dentists, I was a little afraid. First off, his office gave me the bad news that my in-between dental plan was not a plan Dr. Patrician participated in, despite the errant information the plan operator claimed online (in order to garner confidence from Dr. Patrician's excellent reputation). Now, not only was I worried about my care, I was worried how I would pay for the costs with no coverage. Dr. Patrician was supremely gracious, pledging to honor the plan's reduced payment amounts, despite the fact that he wasn't a plan participant. This alone saved me $2000 or more out of pocket. This at least put my financial anxiety at ease. He didn't have to do that. Then, when reviewing options, I let him know I had two friends I trusted who are dentists, one in Chicago and one on the east coast, and I'd like them to help me decide on my care and evaluate if he were the right dentist for me. Dr. Patrician didn't hesitate in fully participating in providing whatever I needed to make these decisions, and during my unfolding care, he would encourage me to take pictures of his work and send the images to my friends. I came to understand from my dentist friends that there were very good reasons he was so confident in his work. But the clincher that convinced my friends, in addition to his skills and command of the latest x-ray and scanning technology available, was the careful, complete, and extremely competent and caring follow-up emails he sent me answering my questions and explaining his plans for my treatment. When my east-coast dentist friend saw those emails, she said, "You are not going to do better than someone who cares so much to write a patient email like that. Go with him and don't look back." I took her advice. It's now been nine months since I walked into Dr. Patrician's office the first time, and my smile is beautiful again. The implant he gave me is great, and my friends can't tell which tooth he worked on. And, as if all that isn't enough, the staff around him are great, and they are all happy because he treats them as well as he treats his patients. That's what they tell you if you ask them if his office is a good place to work. The attention to detail here is unlike anything I've ever experienced in a dentist's office before, right down to the patient-massaging dental chairs, the coffee machine, and the volumes of effusive thank-you notes pinned to the back wall from happy patients. BUT I came in for tooth pain and they just gave me a filling without telling me that the cause was night-time tooth grinding / bruxism. I went to another dentist who told me this AFTER I already had the filling, and that I needed a night guard to protect against grinding. read more

Update: My implant is doing great! I went in last week to have a root canal in a molar that was done (poorly) about ten years ago retreated (along with fixing all the associated decay) and get that tooth and the tooth behind prepped for crowns. Once again, I had a great experience! Minimal wait time in the comfortable waiting area and super friendly service. As a medical professional myself, I recognize the importance of great teamwork, and the efficiency of Dr. Patrician and his assistant Kayla was incredibly impressive. They have obviously worked together as a team for a long time, as most of the actual speaking they did with each other was lighthearted banter that kept me feeling at ease - there wasn't much need for actual discussion about the procedure, asking for this tool or that tool, etc. as Kayla obviously anticipated the doctor's every move and had everything ready to go. Dr. Patrician had the old fillings off of my teeth, cleaned out the previously done root canal, did a new one, and had both teeth prepped for crowns in under an hour (no lie!) thanks to his efficiency. My new crowns will be going on my teeth later this week, and they told me to anticipate it only taking around fifteen minutes - I've literally had other crowns put in that took over an hour of fiddling and adjustment to get right. I'll update this review if it for some reason takes them longer, but right now I have every confidence that the new crowns will be perfect in no time. if you have insurance you might well be okay with the free La Croix. I am financially able to pay for my dental treatments but this guy is over the top! Was told I needed 4 crowns and a root canal to the tune of $8000. I had been going to the same dentist for 25 years so this was quite a shock. I went to another dentist for the root canal and crown. Lovely work for a fraction of the price and told I MIGHT need other crowns down the road but should wait an see. A 45 min. Cleaning without seeing the dentist-$165.00 This guy is for people who like to waste $$$ because the office looks "good." BTW the hygienist was super nice and good at her job. This is probably the best dental practice I have ever been to. Reasons: 1. Insurance information - They have always been accurate about how much things cost, what is covered etc. This is one of the most annoying things in healthcare in general and this place does a good job. 2. Technology - They haven't skimped on technology. Definitely the most tech savvy dental practice I have been to. I'm not a dentist so hard to describe specifics but this is a huge plus for me. Knowing that they have the best available tools and technologies for the job. 3. Professional - This place is just all around very professional and clean. I've had personalized notes before from dentists or - "Hey what music do you want to listen to?" but then the technology is old and coverage information is all wrong. I was low-key terrified before my first appointment at Boulder Dental Arts because I'd gone six (!) years without seeing a dentist. My previous dentist was the same one I'd had since childhood, a family friend in my home state of Michigan who supported me through four hellish years of braces and allowed me take a conciliatory prize from the kid's trinket box at the end of each visit, well into college. After moving to Colorado and falling off my parent's health insurance in 2014, I threw caution to the wind and stopped seeing a dentist. Once I hit the half-decade-no-dentist mark, I began experiencing all the nightmares you'd expect- teeth falling out, teeth turning brown, teeth replaced by chicken nuggets, and much worse that I won't go into. After saving up some money and googling "best Boulder dentist" repeatedly, I resolved to schedule a routine teeth cleaning. Boulder Dental Arts was already on my radar based on positive yelp reviews when I confessed my predicament to a coworker. "Oh"- she said, "I know Jeffrey, he's the best!" Having just returned from my second appointment with Boulder Dental Arts, I can say with absolute conviction that Jeffrey Patrician is, indeed, the best. In fact, everyone at Boulder Dental Arts, from the kind receptionist to the hygienist to the man not associated with BDA but in the vicinity who shoveled me out of the snow when my car got stuck, is the best. But back to Jeffrey- because this is the truly remarkable thing about my last visit- he has perfected the art of painlessly administering anesthetic. He calls his technique the "Jeffnique" and without divulging any industry secrets, let's just say it involved the activation of the third eye and a well-timed injection to the gums. Santeria was playing and I felt no pain as my teeth were bonded. I'm no stranger to needles in the mouth and I've endured all sorts of Medieval torture thanks to orthodontics; this is was by far the least discomfort I've ever experienced. Most importantly, my two stained teeth look pretty again. The staining was a natural result of shifting teeth and an unwavering addiction to black coffee that was beginning to wear on my self-confidence. My smile is now drastically improved, but of course you wouldn't know it because there's a pandemic and I'm no covidiot when it comes to masks. I look forward to the day when I can share my smile in public with pride, but of course if any man tells me to smile I shall grimace in his general direction. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about Boulder Dental Arts. I recently moved to the area and needed to find a dentist. Dr. Patrician was booked up for a few months for an initial appointment, but when a cracked tooth started acting up, they offered to squeeze me in right away (after hours, no less). I've now been to the office three times - once for the temporary crown, back for the permanent crown, and once more for a cleaning. I was so impressed by my first visit that I wanted to leave a review right away, but made myself wait until everything was done so my review would be more complete. Boulder Dental Arts checks all the right boxes, plus a few extra. The office itself is very nice - it looks more like a spa than a dental clinic, decorated in stone and soothing colors, with comfortable furniture. The exam rooms are spotless and the technology and equipment they use are state of the art. But the people that work there are what really make this an outstanding practice. Dr. Patrician managed to put together a truly top-notch team. Every single member of the staff exudes competence and skill at their particular job. I feel bad singling out individuals because they are all incredible and I'm afraid I'll leave someone out. So I'll single out Dr. P, since he's the ringleader. He works with impressive speed, but definitely does not sacrifice quality for quickness. He's just that good. He took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my teeth, and even showed me the problem using some of that advanced technology, so I was crystal clear about the diagnosis and the treatment options. They were equally transparent about costs and insurance coverage. To reinforce my good feelings about their transparency and straightforwardness, I walked out of my crown procedure without a root canal after Dr. P saw that it wasn't needed after all. I haven't had a single issue with the crown since it was placed a few weeks ago and the procedure itself was (really, and I mean really) quick and surprisingly painless. My recent cleaning was equally impressive and the most thorough I've ever had. Boulder Dental Arts is doing everything right. This is how a practice should be run. Friendly, highly competent, efficient, welcoming, and caring people that actually appear to be having a great deal of fun working, somehow without sacrificing professionalism. Very cool dental office -- everything is brand new...and they have potentially the worlds most comfortable waiting room chairs. I hadnt been to the dentist in more than 3yrs (Im not generally a big fan) but both Dr. Partician and the hygenist Logan we're totally great. Desiree up front pre-checked everything with insurance before I got there and made sure there were no surprises on the pricing. I had to go back and get a deep cleaning a week later to make up for missing six cleanings, but they made that as painless as possible -- including providing noise cancelling headphones so I could zone out during the procedure. BDA does a nice job of making The Dentist Visit a pleasant experience. I've had some bad experiences with dentists being rushed, rough, and generally uncaring. Dr. Patrician is the opposite. He takes time to do things right and makes the process as enjoyable as possible. His attention to detail shows in the design and layout of the office which is modern, clean, and attractive. He provides water and coffee for patients in the waiting area. The operating chairs are comfortable and equipped with TVs/monitors so you can either watch a show or choose to see what the dentist sees. He uses modern equipment and tools including an amazing X-ray machine for panoramic views. The office manager is efficient and polite and scheduling appointments is easy. Parking is convenient with free parking on the street or in a lot and the office is located on a main road so it is easy to find. I've had a cavity filled and two cleanings now with Dr. Patrician and all the work has been well done with minimal discomfort. Overall I highly recommend giving BDA a try if you're looking for a new dentist. read more

This is an exceptional practice. Dr. Patrician is thorough, precise and professional, and looks beyond the immediate issues. He recommended some orthodontic treatment before placing my implants, which was exactly the right thing to do. He then collaborated with my Orthodontist to make sure the placement of my implants would match up properly. I am very satisfied with the result. The staff always seem very happy and welcoming. I hate going to the dentist, hate it, however, after 4 years of going to see Dr. Jeff, I know it will still suck, but Dr. Jeff makes it not so bad. His personality and the the rest of the staff makes it a fun experience with all the jokes and his staff's fun, but has a very professional demeanor, along with all his top of the line, latest and greatest technology that he invests in the practice (he owns the practice himself and this not some "we are local, but yet owned by Wall Street office" that is becoming more common by the day, I love helping a small biz owner that lives in my community). My entire family goes here (wife, Father and Mother) and they all love Jeff and his staff/practice that we would NOT go anywhere else for our dental care. I think that other dentists should take some time and visit Boulder Dental Arts and figure out how he does it. The BEST thing about him is he never beats around the bush, he is straight up and not out to just make money, he actually cares and gives you options, and is straight up, HONEST. Love his hygienists, Ozzie is the best, if you want to chat about snowsports while he does his meticulous cleanings (he will do a complimentary xray to make sure he has gotten every bit of plaque out, wow!), this place is for you.
