Best Neurologist I've seen in 20 years. So kind and personable. Jovial and funny. No wait time. He ran a lot of tests on me and was very thorough. That was a couple years ago. I have just made another appointment with him because I kept getting referred to Neurologists who offered little help. I cannot believe the criticism on here for petty small stuff. I traveled an hour to get to this place. I have never seen so many forums to fill out. The front staff was fine, but it was after that when another woman took me in the back and failed to take my blood pressure even though she said she was going to, and I sat in the back room for almost an hour before leaving. No one even noticed I was gone, and when they finally did call me and hung up when I answered, I called my insurance right away so that they would not be charged. I had been dealing with extreme pain for quite some time, and after being referred to Dr. Jeffrey Levin, I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions for my health. From the start, his office staff was amazing. They were kind, welcoming, and very efficient. They truly went above and beyond to get my file in front of him and help me get approved to be seen as soon as possible, which meant so much during a stressful time. Dr. Levin is truly one of a kind. It's rare to find a doctor who is this transparent, compassionate, and genuinely invested in their patients. He takes his time, explains everything thoroughly, and makes sure you fully understand what's going on. He doesn't sugarcoat things--he tells you exactly what you need to hear so you can move forward with confidence. His knowledge and work ethic are incredible, and you can tell he truly cares about providing the best care possible. My nerve conduction study was a very positive experience and absolutely worth the wait. If you're dealing with carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve issues, or any nerve-related condition, I highly recommend asking for a referral to Dr. Levin. After a long 95 minute wait in the waiting room, my father was finally escorted back to receive EEG results. He waited another 25 minutes for Dr Levine to enter. The Dr asked several basic assessment type questions and then RAMBLED on about his own personal family members and sharing private details about his own life, kids etc. Told my father he would get some meds to "make him all Better" and NEVER shared the EEG results (the whole point of the appointment!) Colossal waste of time and effort for a 84 yr old patient with dementia!! How this Dr is still in practice is beyond my comprehension ~ read more

Arrived on time at 3:15 for my appointment and was seen at 5:30, very annoying. Two people who were scheduled for 3:30 and arrived after me were taken in before me. I got up and said something to the receptionists about it and Dr Levin heard me and practically shouted from the hallway "If you can't wait then come back another time." When I finally saw him after a 2 1/2 hour wait, he was rude and curt and told me I needed to lose weight. which I already knew and which was completely irrelevant for a neurologist. Then he had me walk up and down the hallway while he watched and said I looked fine and I could go. He brushed aside the fact that I had an MRI a few months ago that showed I had had 4 minor strokes. Hours and hours past and I finally get put into a room only to be forced to wait even longer. I finally walked out. Dr Levin is rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. My appointment was at 2:30pm and he saw me at 6:30pm. I felt completely dismissive by Dr Levin. When I tried to explain my symptoms, he cut me off. The appointment was over in 5 minutes and I don't feel like my concerns were addressed. I have been to this practice for the first time and I have never felt so unheard. I had one of the worst experiences with Dr. Levin. After waiting over 3 hours, he came in with nothing in hand, looked half-asleep, and only spent about 3 minutes with me. He didn't have any of my records, said he didn't know my case, and told me to fax him my imaging before walking out. Proceeded to throw a misdiagnosis at me and then said good luck. In 2016 I was at Sutter Memorial hospital here, Modesto,CA I was impatient my attending physician said she was going to send a neurologist. It was Dr. Levin, I had heard horror stories about this Neurologist. ( but I said I would try him just for this PCP at Sutter Memorial Hospital) I didn't want to,but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt! So I waited patiently & hopefully and happily! So at 5:00 AM, in the morning, Dr. Levin, walked in to my room, the first thing I asked him was since he woke me up is "so you Are Dr.Levin?! ." Well he got upset! got mad! and said rudely." I refuse to treat you.!" and walked out of the room at the hospital ! This is supposed to be a neurologist. Excuse me.! so when my PCP came in there was treating me from the hospital. I told her what happened and I told her straight out you guys have cameras pull it and see what he did. Terrible quality of care! I had an appointment with Dr Levin, whom I never have met. Appointment was at 1:00, I arrived before 1:00, the 2 receptionists were slightly helpful but not friendly. I was finally taken to an exam room at 2:15, by his very nice nurse, but then left waiting with no updates on when I would be seen. I then opened the door and asked if they forgot about me at 3:00. I received no response. So then I grabbed by purse, left the exam room and asked one of the receptionist , "Will I be charged for coming to my scheduled appointment?"and she said no. Then I said, "I don't feel important enough by Dr Levin even to be seen! I refused to be treated like dirt and I will never come back. I hate to write a bad review, but for the sakes of everyone I feel compelled to do so you would be warned. If I can give a negative mark, I would. First, to set up an appointment, it took like 2 weeks, which would be 3 months away. But had to reschedule, that took another 3 months. Then on the day of the appointment, got a notice via text my appointment would be delayed another hour or reschedule, told next one would be in April, so decided to keep the appointment, was there for 3 hours, mostly waiting, when the actual visit was 10 min doing EMG. I didn't get out until like 645PM. Second, office staff were not kind, not at the visit nor at every time I called. When had to go use the bathroom, was told to go to the second floor. Because it was after the hours, the double door which led to the bathroom was locked. Thus went back to the office, on the third floor and was told to use the first floor bathroom, went there and it had an "Out of Order" sign, but since I had to use the bathroom, I went in and there was nothing wrong with the toilet. Third, he was the rudest, dismissive, unkind, unprofessional, unhappy doctor with such foul mouth I have ever seen. No apology for lateness, he asked all kind of personal questions as ice breakers but if I don't answer him right away he demanded I would answer them. And when I asked him questions he would hush me. When he did EMG test on me, no warning that it would be little painful. Nothing. By the way, he did not even introduce himself. At the end, he just said like this, " You want the surgery or not" and decided not engage him any further than necessary, I just said "ok" that I would just get the referral and get out of there. No need to further the agony. The best thing he said though was "I don't trust anybody in the valley, you need to go to UCSF for surgery." For others, who need to do EMG, heard there is another doctor in Modesto who offers EMG , unfortunately his waiting time is longer, to May. Conclusion, we need more qualified doctors in the valley. This was the only moment in which I tried to offer any clarity, and I was dismissed before I could finish a single sentence. To further compound the insult, he made an offhand referral for sleep apnea--again, a condition entirely unrelated to the concerns I presented. Not once did he acknowledge the purpose of my visit, nor did he review or discuss the results of prior diagnostic tests that I had undergone specifically for this follow-up. It was as if I were a generic template to be hastily stamped with a prescription and ushered out the door. This is not medicine. This is a transactional, tone-deaf performance of healthcare, devoid of curiosity, critical thought, or even basic human attentiveness. It is unconscionable that patients are subjected to such hollow encounters, where pharmaceutical samples are dispensed in lieu of diagnosis, and referrals are made without relevance or rationale. Dr. Levin exemplifies the very decay that so many patients fear in today's medical system: a detached, disengaged practitioner more invested in moving patients along than in understanding or alleviating their suffering. If I could give it a negative I would. After having to wait two months for a first appointment, walked into a very small waiting room completely full 15 people. no open seats. The smell of BO wafted out the door and hit you like a smack in the face along with about 90 degree heat. It was so hot , smelly and dirty I could not believe this was a doctor's office. The receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. She informed me after I asked that the wait was 1 1/2 hours passed my appointment time. I told her that was unacceptable and I would like to reschedule. She told be three month and I told her I'd like the first available appointment so I won't have a long wait and she told me no matter what time it is a hour wait from your appointment time. I was asking questions and he literally turned away from me and would only speak to my husband. I was not treated as a human being, I was not even worth responding to as the patient. This office is a joke. I was diagnosed with MS a few years ago, the office told me he doesn't see patients with MS but my doctor referred me and he accepted it. So after being hospitalized waiting for my appointment I'm finally seen. They didn't let me see the doctor just got an EEG..even though I already had my diagnosis, I even hand delivered the MRI/spinal tap results myself because they said they didn't receive the ones my primary sent. So I had to wait a few more weeks to actually see the doctor. He comes in the room to discuss my EEG results...and I told him about my diagnosis and my MRI. He had no idea!!! He said he didn't have the results. I read reviews by this point so I brought them with me and gave them to him. I told him I told his office several times that I had MS and they said you still wanted to see me. He said why would they say that? They don't know what I want. Like??? Go somewhere else. My experience was a nightmare. I had waited months for an appointment with Dr.Levin only for them to call at the last minute & reschedule (months later) because they were "overbooked". And when the 2nd appointment came up, they tried to do it again with less than 24 hours notice. Keep in mind, I have to clear my day & find a sitter each time, so yes, it's a big deal. When I complained to the receptionist, she magically found an opening the next day for 12pm. So I get there and wait patiently in the 1st waiting room for 2 HOURS. 4 people left without being seen while I was there, so I'm sure that may have speed up the process, I don't know, but I've never had to wait this long at a doctor's office. Nonetheless, I didn't complain. I was just happy to be there because I had been having nerve pain, tingling, twitching, electric shocks etc for over a year & I was happy to FINALLY get into a neurologist office. So I get called after two hours & was put into another waiting room... for ANOTHER HOUR. While in there, I got to listen to the doctor be friendly with all the nurses, delivery drivers, another doctor that came to visit- hearing about the baseball game & his lunch & how much he loves the restaurant they picked & how they should get it every week, blah blah blah- taking his sweet time. I figured that is fantastic I have such a friendly doctor maybe he can finally help me. I had to use the restroom, so I asked the receptionist who directed me to take the elevator to the floor below & use that restroom.... okay, I can handle that. When I came back, I guess the doctor had been waiting for me (really guys, it was like 5 minutes) & he gave me a MASSIVE attitude like I was wasting his time. He didn't even say "hello" "how are you" "sorry for the wait"- NOTHING as friendly as I just heard him during his hour long lunch break. Literally his 1st words were "get on the table & take that off" (pointing at my hair tie which was around my right wrist). So I ask about my watch which was around my left wrist & he coldly says, "well am I testing your right side or your left side? " I mean.... YOU are the doctor. My ENTIRE BODY IS IN PAIN & you're asking ME which side you're testing? So by this point, I'm laying on the table in tears as he's running his electric shock tests because it hurts & he's here asking me what I do for work. I let him know I'm a Stay-at-home homeschooling mom & am on my feet & driving around all day because I figured that was relevant to what's causing my pain. Then his next question was just fucking inappropriate. My questionnaire that I filed out while in the waiting room for 2 hours had my marital status as "WIDOWED" on the front page. Under spouse info? "DECEASED".... This "Dr." Didn't even look at any part of my paper work because he straight up asked me "What does your husband do? " really? I'm already in tears because I'm in pain from the tests, waiting 3 hours as you stuff your face & flirt with the nurses, & now you're asking a widow what her husband does for a living? How is that even relevant to my pain??? When I answered the question as "He used to be a truck driver". He asks "And now"? Which of course I have to clarify that he's dead..... No sooner than 60 seconds, he takes off the nodes & says, "well, you're done. It's not your nerves. You don't need to see me again. " I swear if I had said my new husband was a lawyer, I would have been brought in for further testing or something to make them more money.... but because I don't currently work, he wasn't interested. I received a call an hour before my appointment to inform me that the doctor was running behind schedule and that I should come in an hour later than my original appointment time. When I checked in an hour after my original appointment, the receptionist informed us that we would have to wait an additional hour and a half. Exactly an hour and a half later, we were placed in a room where we were asked five questions that we had already answered on the questionnaire and the wrong referral was brought. You will spend a minimum of an hr in waiting room and meet dr levin for maybe 5 minutes max. Charges for forms instead of copies, fills out examination forms without doing the actual examination. Dude can't write or fill out forms correctly. If you call him on anything he blows up like the 4th of july. Do not even think about asking for a second opinion that'll send him off. Hello has violated hippa laws atleast with me. He will threaten to get your license revoked if you don't comply and take his prescription medication, for epilepsy. He won't tell you that if you take the medication and you don't actually have seizures it can give you seizures. If you stop taking the medication it can give you seizures. Overall please do not go to this guy if you value your sanity and health. He will point you to a poster describing epilepsy and hurry you out. On his poster it reads: there is no single test for epilepsy, the doctor will make a decision based on past seizures. But if you never described having a seizure then it sounds like a mis diagnosis. Update.. I went to this idiot for help, I had lesions on my brain. He said it happens with age. I told him I thought I had ms, he said absolutely not. He wouldn't even look at my past records that I have kept since 1997..I found the greatest ms neurologist in Reno Nevada. He did all the right things, tests 4 mri's looked at all my records. A week later I was diagnosed with MS.. Dr. Leven should be put out of business. His degree taken away. I hope he gets a malpractice suit in his future, cause there is going to be that one person that he doesn't give the correct care to and something bad is going to happen to his patients due to neglect!! read more

So far I am not impressed. First of all reading all of these really bad yelp reviews got me feeling Some type of way already! We walk in. 2 girls at the desk. Stone faces. One does say hello. When they speak they are not friendly at all. Very short and rude, like they think they are better then everyone. And plus they eat at there desks right infront of the patients. Kinda gross. Our appointment time is at 12:45. It's currently 1:15 pm and still have not been called back yet. There is like no body in the office. The waiting room is pretty much empty. What's the hold up?? And now it is 1:43..... and we got moved into a room. And were told there is one patient ahead of us and that he will see us shortly. Literally... it's been a damn hour. This guy is unbelievable. Very long story short, Levin mixes up my wife's records with someone else's and causes her to have her driver's license suspended. His office was supposed to send a retraction, but DMV said they never received it. He said she'd seen a doctor she never saw, at a hospital she never went to, for a condition she doesn't have. You don't have to be an expert in something like Graphology to see the same person wrothe them all.- I'm assuming it was an office worker. By the nature of medicine, doctors are automatically given enormous amounts of trust from their patients because they are often are suffering from illness & pain. This kind of dynamic can easily lead to bad situations, which is why doctors taughr NOT to take advantage of that trust and which is why doctors are make to take the Hyppocratic Oath. I believe Levin (I won't call him "doctor" has forgotten his Oath. I showed up on time @ 12:30 & got an example of their incompetence right away. The address they gave me: 1541 Florida - They didn't tell me what floor they were on, or give me their room number. He's not in the lobby's directory nor is there anything with his name on it & an arrow to guide you in the hallways. I was in the waiting room for 25 mins. I was in the first exam room for 1:15 mins. Then I was taken to another exam & waited another 40 mins, at one point hearing Levin talk to someone about a restaurant for 15+ mins. "Tell him you're a friend of mine. They'll take care of you." Unreal. I arrived at 12:30 & didn't meet Levin until 2:55. I waited 2 months for the appointment, 2.5 hours at my appointment & it was a total waste of time. He didn't help AT ALL. I've had several surgeries related to being an athlete when I was young & now, as I get older I see doctors more & more. In 3 decades I've seen countless GPs, specialists, PT therapists, etc The 25 minutes with Levin was BY FAR the worst experience I've ever had with any doctor. Upon leaving, before I even reached the parking lot I knew I was going to write letters & file a complaint. Levin wasn't a guy having a bad day. He was "off." He was rude, arrogant, impatient, VERY unprofessional & it all started....with him hurriedly rapid-fire asking me vague questions, then either interrupting me, not listening: "Where did you have that surgery?" "Los Angeles." (then he'd pause a beat & quietly sigh) "WHERE in LA? WHAT hospital?" (He didn't specify what 'where' meant, but still acts indignant when I didn't somehow telepathically surmise what he meant by his vague question It's a classic passive-aggressive maneuver that narcissists use to feel superior.) "St. Mary's." "Where is St. Mary's?" (Seriously, HTF is the specific location of the hospital where I had surgery in 25 yrs ago at all relevant at all?!) It's as if he just likes being control. [To prevent myself from losing it, I thought up a little mantra which I repeated in my head the entire appt: "Ignore it. You've waited 2 months for this appt & need help"] He continued: "Who was the doctor?" "I don't remember." "You can't remember the doctor who operated on you??" (Again. HOW is this relevant?) "It was 25 years ago. I've had a few surgeons." Then he began ranting about doctors not getting paid much anymore "because of the left...liberals." He spoke about his other patient's private medical problems. I was in shock. What happened to patient confidentiality? Ethics? And as another patient which led to him telling me the guy's medical problems & then he said, "You're a lot worse than him though, unfortunately." Then, he went lower. I heard a story his patient, a "300 pound retard" who's elderly mother brought him, accidentally fell on Levin & injured him. "But I'm not gonna see a doctor. I'm not a wimp." Stunned, I was thinking, "Does he realize he just insulted me, calling me a wimp, or does he insult all his patients like that?" - He shared his theory that "doctor ["Ignore it. You've waited 2 months for this appt & need help"] His diagnosis/advice: "Your feet are a wreck, don't drink & Take B-12." ...... That's it. I had just explained how very, very painful whatever I have is, & that I haven't slept in 2 months. He couldn't care less. He gave almost no instruction, no details, no medication, no further appointments...most nothing. He didn't acknowledge my lack of sleep. Then he started typing & after 3-4 minutes, he turned to me & curtly said, "Ok. Have a nice day." Apparently I was supposed to somehow surmise that he was finished also. Judging by the other comments here, Levin wastes ALL his patient's time. He's subtly abusive & passive aggressive. He's very likely a narcissist & maybe even a sociopath because it's blatantly clear he should NOT be doctor & he seems to have no clue how "off" his behavior is. First of, I have no other choice but to leave a one star since the system will not allow me to give a negative five stars. This so called doctor had the audacity to take my daughter's driving license away without merit. He was rude, condescending, unprofessional and unethical. I don't know why he is in business still. He did not bother to get my daughter's medical history from her previous doctors to assess her medical needs properly and instead, in one short visit, took away her means of transportation and independence by sending a notification to the DMV, suspending her license due to "seizures" that are nonexistent in the medical test and assessment done by his practice. She has never had seizures throughout her life. By his actions he has created undue stress since my daughter no longer has transportation and, she has lost her job as well. We live in a small rural area with minimal public transportation and is unsafe to ride a bicycle due to the landscape where we live. I'm encouraging my daughter to file a formal compliant against him with the medical board. This guy's medical degree should be revoked due to lack of care, professionalism, ethics and compassion towards his patients. If this was not his calling... he should have had taken a different path. read more
