The team explained that they called multiple times ahead of the appointment to explain the condition, what exactly would be needed and ensure it was an appropriate setting. The doctor scheduled to conduct the procedure had already evaluated the patient in-person and personally referred them to this center for her to complete it. Patient did absolutely nothing wrong, other than needing some assistance from their team, and a full team was present to work with them to ensure the Sutter staff didn't have to worry about anything. The RN immediately complained and was openly talking negatively about the patient in the hallway so the team denied service without even trying or consulting the patients team. Even after the reiteration that the procedure was urgent due to life threatening concerns and having a history of successful procedures with no issues, they refused service based on the fact they had disabilities that they were well aware of ahead of time. Very disheartening to see professionals in a field meant to help others be so discriminatory and hateful.

He did an amazing job on both mine and my Mom's surgery. He's not like a lot of those typical surgeons who forget who you are after having & healing from your surgery. It's been a least 5 years since he's done my surgery and he still remember me and my family! He does some minor surgeries in his office & of course, since he is a surgeon, there might be some post-op patients that might rush in with an emergency (which was rare when I was going to see him), which may cause a long wait so bring something to entertain yourself if theres a long wait.

Typical waiting even with an appointment. Clinic looks new, neat and clean. Good customer service from front desk person. Looks like a fast paced busy clinic based on the people in the waiting area. There is a small tv but is off, it would be nice if there is a big tv or multiple tvs so people won't get bored waiting. We were called around 7:20 for a 7:00 appointment. During our brief visit, Dr Kofoed was pleasant, calm, not rushing, showed the photo of the xray and able to explain everything we need to know. I was able to schedule the next follow up appointment and will update the next experience based on that.

My mental journey is a whole other level but what I can say is that dr Thorburn removed a lot of baggage for me. I had a Fleu de lis abdominalplasty and an implant exchange. She removed about 10lbs of skin, tissue, and fluid. She was realistic about my results, and was incredibly supportive of my goals. "I just want to be able to function" I told her. I got soooo much more. She gave me the freedom to finally feel comfortable in my skin. The first week was a rollercoaster. She warned me about that and I thought, meh I'm pretty positive and don't really complain, I'm sure it'll be fine. My first week post op visit was rough. I wanted to cry because I felt like I was doing so well with recovery the first couple days, then I felt like I was back to day one. I felt defeated. it's a whole mental journey- but I say all this because she really spoke to the mental piece of such a major surgery as well as the physical. My daughter had to go see him for a follow up after surgery. When we explained that she was vomiting and still couldn't keep food down 10 days post op he told us "that's not my problem". He told us to go see a GI doctor. When we explained that the GI doctors had no availability for 2 months he stated "then you'll have to wait". I told him no and that I wanted someone to assess this problem now, he told us to get out. I told him he was a rude person and that by not helping us he was assisting in the demise of my daughter. He again told us to get out waving his hand towards the door and said we were being ridiculous. All this as she again threw up. As we were leaving he hit my daughter with his hand that he was flinging around. She became very upset and threatened to call the police. His nurse quickly escorted us out to the lobby. She was very nice and apologized. She was so sweet and gave both of us hugs. Another nurse came out an helped us get an appointment with a GI doctor that same afternoon. I cannot say yet if this man is a good surgeon, because my daughter is still very ill. What I can tell you is that he has a horrible bedside manner and that he shows no empathy towards his patients who are begging for help. If you have another option I would highly recommend it. What kind of doctor tells someone begging for help that her illness is "not his problem"? In my opinion this man is a self centered egotistical disappointment to the medical profession.

I sought out Dr Birkbeck and his team specifically because he specializes in hand and wrist surgery. My experience was absolutely wonderful from the initial consultation to the final follow up appointment. I was also seen by one of the groups PA's Alexis Rockwell and she is amazing as well. It was obvious to me that they care very deeply about how their patents are doing post surgery and I was given ample opportunities and encouraged to ask questions. I had absolutely no discomfort after my surgery and was given adequate pain medication if I should need it post surgically but it was not required. I am not in a big hurry to have surgery again anytime soon but if the need should arise there is no question in my mind that I would chose Dr Birkbeck and his team of dedicated professionals for any orthopedic needs I may require in the future. I sat for over 30 min after my scheduled appointment time, I even waited approximately 15 min to ask when I was going to be seen and why a patient that came in after me was being called before me and the receptionist said with a superior tone, "some patients need x rays and there are different doctors" (I literally heard the patient called for the same doctor as me), and then I was told by the nurse "I'm sorry about the wait, you were never checked in". To me that is unacceptable, it wasn't even that busy in the front, why wasn't I checked in by the receptionist? The way the receptionist dealt with me and my situation made me feel like she was looking down on me, like I was stupid or something. I'm very observant and pay attention to things. I had other appointments to get to, I even came in early.
