We first met Dan over a Zoom call in October to discuss DJ'ing our wedding in August. He seemed great at first and had 5 star reviews so we decided to book him. After signing the contract and paying the deposit, things started to get a little disorganized. First, the deposit receipt showed someone else's name on it. We had not received any communication from Dan clarifying the mix-up or confirming he indeed received our deposit, so we had to send him a follow-up on that. Then, fast forward to a couple weeks before our wedding and he asked for our meeting availability to check-in before our wedding. He shared a few days he had available, and we responded with our availability right away. A few days passed and no response. Then a week passed and still no response. It was the Monday before our wedding that we started to go into panic mode. We were getting concerned that we hadn't heard from Dan about securing a meeting date, especially given that we were less than a week before our wedding. We thought he was ghosting us or that something had happened to him that made him unavailable. Monday morning, we texted Dan asking if he had seen our emails. No response. A few hours later we call him as a final contact attempt - still no answer. We ultimately had to make the decision to cut ties and scramble to hire a new DJ since Dan wasn't responding. Since we were only 5 days from our wedding, we expectedly didn't have much hope we could secure a plan B in time. After we booked our new DJ, Dan finally texted back (many hours later) saying he was on a camping trip with no cell reception and that he dropped the ball by not responding to our previous contact attempts. What didn't make sense to us was that he offered meeting availability on dates that he was supposedly out of town. Overall, we would have understood if we knew he was going to be on vacation (with no cell/email service) ahead of time, but it was cutting way too close to our wedding. We panicked and felt like we were essentially forced to find a new DJ as we didn't know when or if we would hear back. He knew our wedding was coming up, and yet all we got leading up to it was silence. It takes 30 seconds to send a quick email to your clients letting them know you might be slow to respond over the next week - that would've saved us a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. The lack of communication in general, especially so close to our wedding date, was completely unprofessional. If you're considering Party Down DJs/Dan, this is a warning to read over his contract thoroughly. His contracts are written deliberately so that you will be on the hook regardless - even if you're put in a position like us where you're forced to cancel and find someone else.

Everyone involved in the event was very friendly, helpful and courteous and went out of their way to accommodate us....except you. And everyone was tipped accordingly, including a big fat zero for you due to your controlling nature, inflexibility and threats. When you first approached me about dealing exclusively with my daughter, the bride, I didn't see a problem, but then you had to threaten me with a $500 upcharge if you didn't get your way. You can take the threat of your upcharge and cram it clownie!! My brother and sister-in-law get along with everybody, but you managed to insult her and treat her rudely and prompt my brother to threaten you with bodily harm if you spoke to her like that again. And you were rude and disrespectful to my wife, THE MOTHER OF THE BRIDE!!! Can I remind you that you're in the service business and it generally pays to be nice to people, not rude and condescending? Ever heard that customer is always right cliché? You catch more bears with honey than vinegar? Any of this sinking in? You need to keep things in perspective: you're not a captain of industry, you're not splitting the atom or solving world hunger up there, you're spinning discs for the pleasure of your audience. Your fiancé may think she's marrying Mr. Right, but she probably didn't know your first name is Always? You put a damper on a wonderful day that was fortunately unseen by most in attendance. My only regret of the night is talking my brother out of kicking your ass. After talking to you again after that, I was willing to join in and by now we've got a full posse who'd like to meet you in a dark alley. A good ass whipping might improve your crappy attitude and you might lose those weirdo-looking white glasses in the process. Saying you're the best doesn't make it so: you are the most unprofessional DJ I've ever seen and have the worst attitude for someone in a service business.

Unfortunately and coincidentally we met the owner through social media while engaging in a conversation about another business opportunity, not knowing he was also the owner of Fast Booth of which we have recently looked into for our Summer Bash. I assume his customer service is about the equivalent or lower than his social media communication skills but needless to say we were very turned off. We are always excited to support someone local and always very disappointed when the owner of a great product can't hold a conversation and comes across as judgmental . We wish him well but won't be purchasing his product service, but then again, I don't think he really cares

Except that equipment and so on takes time and Zayne pointed out that if you stop at 10 outside we would lose a lot of people to the lull. Instead, he was able to rent additional equipment for us, made some good calls on when the timing was right, and made it so smooth our guests transitioned with ease and he definitely kept the dancing going. I would also strongly suggest you let him do his job. We had a mix of Alabama cowboy meets professional woman (in our mid 40s) and everything from pre-teens to 70 somethings and he kept that floor going. Trust him on music, set up and lights. He knows what he's doing. He actually did a better job coordinating timing on everything and can read a room better than the staff did. Highly Highly recommend him!

Their support was critical not only on the day of our wedding but also in the weeks leading up to it. Throughout every step of the process, Mike offered helpful insights based on his experience to ensure the reception of our dreams became a reality. On the day of our wedding, they were so critical to making sure everything went smoothly. From setting up the microphone and speakers for the ceremony (in a grassy field a couple hundred feet from the venue's electric outlets!!) to making sure dinner, speeches, games, and dancing went on without a hitch. They did so much more than what you would traditionally expect from a DJ!! When it was finally time to bust a move on the dance floor, they managed everything masterfully, balancing my many requests with reading the mood of the room and negotiating guest requests. The lights they used on the dance floor created an amazing ambiance. We got tons of compliments on their excellent work, and the dance floor was packed until the very last song. In particular, one thing I appreciated was how strongly Mike prioritized our wishes first and foremost. Though we didn't have any issues with pushy or demanding guests, he made it clear that he would be an advocate for us and defend whatever we asked for. Meaning, for example, if we said we didn't want country music played, he wouldn't play it even if a drunk guest demanded it. I was able to trust in his team completely and felt so cared for by the service they provided my husband and I. We knew the entire time that they were on our side and would do whatever they could to support us. Overall, I can't thank Mike & James enough for everything they did to make our special day a success. You guys are the best, and I'll recommend you to all of my engaged friends!!

Less than 2…read moreweeks out we received a call from the owner, Mr. Loser, saying that our DJ and photo booth person were going to have a "family emergency" on the weekend of our wedding. We were given a DJ, Rachel, who was personally recommended by Mr. Loser. We set up a call with her few days later at which time we discussed the music we wanted played at cocktail hour, for the special dances, and during the open dance floor portion of the reception as well. The online preference sheet we completed provided multiple examples of songs from multiple genres spanning multiple decades and the desired slow songs and closing songs. We made it clear that we wanted those songs played and then whatever other songs the DJ chose that were similar/within that framework. Fast forward to the reception the intro and cocktail hour went well. The open dance floor was another story. Very few of the songs we wanted were played and the music was less than inspiring as no one was dancing. Many of our guests told us she wasn't at her table for long stretches of time. One of those times she was at the head table fetching drinks for the guys, never coming over to the girls side. Several of our guests as well as wedding party members attempted to remedy this with the DJ , he was immediately defensive and rude. I also attempted to talk to Rachel about the situation and was similarly met with a hostile and dismissive attitude. When i asked her to play songs that were on the list she said "you didn't give me enough songs to play". I said "then play songs like the genres we gave you" and she stated she would "run out of music if she did that". Peculiarly, the DJ on more than one occasion in the call the prior to the wedding nonchalantly asked that we provide a Spotify or YouTube premium playlist. Putting it all together now, I feel as though we were expected to choose every song on our own to fill the 5.5 hour reception. At that point, I would've just plugged my phone into a speaker instead of hire a DJ. On top of that, the intro song we wanted was/is one of the most popular songs on the planet right now, and when I requested it be played she had no idea what song I was talking about. We also requested songs to be played at certain times (including a few slow songs) but none of that happened either. We reached out to the owner the following day to discuss the events of the night prior. It was several days later before we were able to speak. Right from the get go the owner doubled down on the DJs rudeness and essentially said it was our fault we didn't give the DJ enough music. He we also entirely dismissive, completely rude, and acted like he didn't care at all. He did admit the slow songs were not played as requested and then said "personally I'm not a slow dance guy anyways." I'm sorry but that's not your call, it was our wedding, our money spent, and our preference sheet desire. We ended the call with him saying he had a refund amount in mind and we had one in mind. Mr. Loser stated he wanted to think 24 hours on it and he'd get back to us by the end of the week. This was a Wednesday. Well, it's now been 2+ weeks and we've heard absolutely nothing. Stay away from this company. They'll be sweet until they get their money. Then after that they'll ask you to send them a Spotify playlist for their DJ to play. I'm only giving it one star because the Photo Booth person was awesome.
