I will start off by saying that this is not the best place to get a salad, apps or some random…read moreentrees. My rating is based almost entirely on their burgers, which are very good. In fact, my kids laughed at my wife when she got a salad and wasn't overly impressed "Mom, why would you get a salad at a place with great burgers?!?" My thoughts exactly. The service is decent, the space is comfortable for a downtown spot on Monroe Center. When I visit, I focus solely on the burgers and I've never been disappointed. The 'Meat Wagon', topped with ribeye, ham and bacon just wants to cuddle your belly from the inside. The 'Otto Von Burger' topped with a fried egg and bacon is one of the best examples of its kind. The 'Alabamer' is great when you're craving pulled pork and bacon on your burger. If you just want a traditional burger, you have that option and won't be disappointed. Also, the loaded fries are solid, but personally, I would pass on the fancier offerings. Remember: Burgers over fancy apps and skip the salads and you'll be fine.

Prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing! I tried the Chicken Bacon Jammer Sandwich. It was so good! The combo of the Boursin cheese, bacon jam and the reaper mayo was delicious and really balanced out the heat from the mayo. Splurged on desert and the Cookie n' Milk cake was wonderful. Not too rich or sweet. This place is definitely worth a stop if you are downtown!

They are famous for their wet burritos, so that's all I've ever ordered and I've never been disappointed. The servers are always super attentive, including our server Austin tonight, who was always fast and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Definitely stop here if you want great burritos and drinks at a reasonable price.

The saddest Tacos in the World!…read more Service started off strong--attentive and prompt--but unfortunately, the food didn't come close to matching. I ordered the asada chicken tacos and was initially served ground beef tacos instead. At first glance, I wondered if the chicken was just finely ground and heavily seasoned, but one bite confirmed it was simply incorrect--and notably bland. Round two brought the correct order, but things didn't improve. The corn tortillas arrived already soggy and doubled up in a way that made them impossible to pick up and eat. I ended up using a fork to salvage what I could. The filling was underwhelming: bland shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato and a thin drizzle of oddly shiny "cheese." Overall, poorly executed, lacking flavor, and disappointing in both quality and presentation. Do better.

Apology: I didn't take any pictures of the food because we were hungry and it was delicious…read more We went to Phil's while in town visiting The Dunes for the Miss Gay Michigan America Pageant this weekend. Walking in we were immediately redirected because we didn't notice the please wait to be seated sign that was outside of the door. It would be nice if the sign had been a little more visible or if we had been redirected more kindly. We were sat immediately and even though I tend to hate high tops, the chairs were sturdy and comfortable. Between myself and my friends we ordered the grilled ham and cheese, the nutty salad, and the burger (with cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, and mustard). We all loved our food and it came out quickly. I ordered my burger medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and made sure to refill our water frequently. At the end of our meal they gave us little cups of animal crackers, which was just the cutest touch! Overall loved and would totally return and recommend.

We grabbed seats at the bar, and the place was full of locals which honestly tells you everything you need to know right there. And not just full... but full of the nicest people. The kind of place where you feel like you belong within five minutes. Now let's talk about Jimmy... WOW. Absolute rockstar behind the bar. Not only was he making amazing drinks, but he was also doing his best to convince us to ditch our dinner reservations and stay honestly, he almost had us The drinks were so good we ended up coming back later that night for dessert... because clearly we weren't done yet. But here's the part that got me I casually mentioned it was my birthday weekend, nothing big... and the NEXT DAY while we were walking around downtown, we look up and there's my name on the marquee wishing me a happy birthday. Like... who does that?! That kind of thoughtfulness is just next level and completely made my day. Phil's isn't just a bar--it's a whole experience. Every time we walked by, it was packed, and after being there... I get it. They're doing a lot right. If you're anywhere near Saugatuck--GO. Sit at the bar, order a drink, and just enjoy it. You'll probably end up staying longer than you planned too

The menu is extensive and filled with delicious, comfort meals... including the TV dinners. I saw this and felt like I had to try it! I just got the chicken fingers version and their fried chicken, mac and cheese were sooo good. I even loved the little veggie mix! But the winner, which got me to even order it, was the little brownie that came along with it. A full meal with dessert for such a small amount of $$. I look forward to trying their brunch sometime or coming back to try more of their items again!

We got the pickle tickle as well as the Southern raw fries (more like deep fried spiral cut potatoes) which were both good. I got the nachos since I tend to get them whenever I go and all were very good. My daughter is vegetarian and they had lots of vegetarian options. Service was good and quick. All 5 stars. They even have their own canned root beer. How cool is that. Unfortunately it was a little too sweet with maple syrup/molasses taste for me (to be fair the waitress forewarned me about the fair. But why not try their signature root beer. I don't regret it one bit). My only issue, which is out of their control was that the parking lot was packed on a Saturday 6pm, so we had to find street parking down the road.

I adore crab so ordering that was a no brainer. Their coffee is strong. It took a ton of cream to change the color... though it was delicious with free refills for $5. The omelette was heaven. All the flavors melded well and I appreciated the crisp acidic salad to cut the richness of the omelette. My only critique is wishing the crab salad topping was a bit more decadent. For $21 I was hoping for big lumps of crab rather than cool shredded mayo based salad. All in all, I love this place, I love the concept. It was quite busy and was thankful to snag a seat at the bar. My boyfriend and I stumbled in during happy hour and were happy to grab some cheap drinks, but the main event was the burger! We typically like sitting at the bar as well and chat with the bartender who was absolutely lovely! The dirty martini was okay but I will definitely order something else next time as the olives just didn't hit for me. It's a quaint and quiet spot - you can read that as intimate - since it's not loud or rowdy, so if you want a really sweet date spot, feel free to check this one out! Otherwise, you can just go and have a casual, delicious dinner. Parking is limited with the street parking and it being so close to Monroe Center but you shouldn't have a terrible time finding something, even if requires a parking ramp vs street parking. I'd just recommend a reservation if you are going on a weekend or don't want to wait/sit at the bar!
