I went through a couple of barbers in St. Pete and while I didn't typically hate my hair, it wasn't the same as what I was used to. I eventually acquiesced, sucked it up, and accepted those barbers and made them my own. I recently move back to Orlando and tried to find a barber shop close to my home. I sampled several shops and found them all to be unbelievably lacking. I avoided my old barber because the shop was out of my way from my new house. One day I was forced to call him up and go to Ace of Spades. I got the best haircut I've had in years. Ace of Spades reminded me what a true barber shop looks, feels, and sounds like. My barber Chris is phenomenal. The shop itself is well-lit, clean, pleasing to the eye, large and with plenty of seating. The other barbers there are friendly, helpful, and boast of a wide variety. He will happily drive out of his way to get his hair cut HERE or he will hold off on getting it cut just until he can come here! Drives me crazy, but they do good work. This is the first place in years that my three and a half (almost four) year old son let someone use the clippers on him without totally freaking out or having a meltdown, since he's usually terrified of the clippers. I was very happy! It can get pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays, just like any other barbershop, but they do have a list, as well. I believe you can even call ahead to put your name on the list, so you are already "in line" before you even get here!
