If I could give this restaurant zero or negative stars, I would, because they do not deserve any…read morestars for the most awful and horrendous dining experience we've ever had. Let me just emphasize by saying that dining in a takeaway or a fast-food joint is considered fine dining compared to eating at this restaurant. I'd booked this restaurant based on vibrant professional pictures of its food and great reviews for a birthday celebration and taking my elderly parents for a meal out to celebrate my birthday. Upon arrival, we found this restaurant to be dark and narrow with dirty, greasy windows and dust all over the colorful lights. We were greeted by a young lady who possibly hadn't showered or washed her hair and body in days as she was reeking with the smell of unwashed hair and BO. There was absolutely no ambiance to this restaurant to speak of, and we didn't get a sense of cleanliness or attention to any detail. We were seated and as my parents enjoy Lebanese / middle eastern food I was hopeful that their food may make up for the awful first impressions and redeem itself. Alas, I was wrong and in hindsight, we should have just walked out. We sat down and ordered a bunch of appetizers and our main meals. The starters and our drinks came out ok, albeit being delivered with an added smell of sweat from the lady serving us. At one point, I felt nauseated from getting a whiff of her moving around but I let it pass. She then proceeded to bring two of the meals out and put them down and then asked what we had ordered again! which was shocking as she was the one taking our order to begin with! My mother had ordered the cod which was listed on their menu and after she had served two out of the four dishes already, proceeded to say ...."oh sorry we don't have cod we have shrimp or seabass". If an item that is listed on your menu is out, you mention that when you are taking the orders, not when you are serving the food to two out of the four guests. Usually in any normal restaurant, food for the table is served all at once so people can enjoy eating together. My mom said she'd like the seabass; she went off to the kitchen. We waited, waited, waited... drank our drinks, ordered more drinks... waited and waited while the other two dishes got cold. When we enquired where the other two dishes are and when they are getting served, she came by to say the other two main meals are coming out in 5 mins... then another 5 minutes... after 35 minutes past serving two of the four dishes, the other two main meals hadn't come out yet! There was one person in their kitchen dealing with the food who was not Lebanese trying to cook / fake cook Lebanese dishes but failing miserably at that too. The smelly lady kept giving excuses that they only have one cook in the kitchen and that is why the main meals for the other two dishes take so long. I found her excuses unacceptable. Nothing justifies or excuses this kind of service at any restaurant. If a restaurant is open and is taking reservations, then they should be prepared to serve a decent food and service. It is not my concern how many cooks or chefs you have in the kitchen, but whoever is in charge should be prepared to properly serve if every seat in the house is filled up. This place couldn't even cope with 4 main meals and delivering them together all at once! Let me just say that I can't unsee what I experienced at this restaurant and this place goes down as the most terrible experience in the history of eating out. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant for any reason, unless you enjoy eating amongst dirt, sweat and unwashed people circling around. I don't want anyone else experiencing what we just endured and have a ruined day / special occasion celebration. Utterly disgraceful!

However, after giving her my order details she mysteriously disappeared off with some wine glasses to tend to some other table guests. Assuming, that in between my talking to her and her picking up the glasses, she had someone forgotten that there was a customer waiting for their order, I resorted to asking another waiter to bring my food, that didn't quite work either and it wasn't until the third waiter that I was brought my food, well, if dropping the box in your hand and walking immediately off without even so much as a thank you or goodbye counts? As for the food, it smelt delightful, however, I couldn't help but wonder if the chef had accidentally dropped the bottle of vinegar without the lid into our salad. As for the fresh bread, someone had forgotten to take it out of it's supermarket wrapper! The chicken wraps looked quite damp and unappetising and despite smelling wonderful, the food tasted only mediocre. Overall, the food is slightly below par but I found the service woefully short and couldn't help wonder that even a few lessons in courtesy from a high street kebab fast food outlet would be beneficial.

I also asked for lebnah on the platter and they were nice enough to let me try some too. The baba ghannouj was outstanding, such a nice smoky flavor. The hummus is smooth, simple tasting, and is a reminder how much superior hummus can be compared to store bought. Very balanced tabbouleh salad which is hard to do! Falafel was great too... Can't believe anyone would rate this anything other than 5. Also very nice waitstaff. I may "miss" my flight so I can have dinner here too.

First tip is to make sure you leave plenty of time to get here - for my 7pm flight I had to leave Farringdon at 4 (train at 415pm) and still only got through security at 550pm... So a quick decision was to be made and I chose CL. First off I went here when they first opened in Manchester last year and it was ok but a bit meh. Saying that this time I thought I'd give it another crack as I really fancied some tasty Middle Eastern food and something healthy. And yeah - 4 stars - a good choice! Highlights were the Baba Ganush, the Lamb Kofta and the iced rose mint tea (perfect to refresh after dashing across town all afternoon) - very friendly staff and good service - I'd happily visit again (and their Manchester branch now)

The starter is the highlight here - a huge plate of mezze, with plenty of houmous, tabbouleh, tzatsiki, olives, pitta and unusual pastries. I believe this can also be ordered separately as a mixed starter if you're not getting the set menu. The mains are fairly basic but very tasty - with a choice of grills and casserole type dishes. A dessert (I had ice cream, but there were other choices I can't remember now), and authentic coffee are also included. The staff are very friendly and happy to have a chat with you about anything and everything.
