Ruthie played such a large roll in the success of my wedding day! I can't speak highly enough of her and her team. I was impressed with her right off the bat when she replied to my emails quickly and in such a friendly way. I also thought it was pretty cool that she's a photojournalist and used to work for the Sun Times. I decided to meet her, and it's obvious she's a seasoned pro. She put all my wedding planning jitters at ease by writing out my wedding timeline (so helpful!) and suggesting off-beat locations around Barrington for the photos. She told me I could text, call or email her, which I thought was just amazing customer service. The week of the wedding, we talked on the phone about the new details and the iffy weather report. Again, she put me right at ease. On the wedding day, she was so much more than just a photographer. She laced-up my dress when my bridesmaids couldn't, she brought us water and made sure we had a cocktail waiting for us at our table when we walked into the reception. By the end of the day, I felt like I had a friend photographing my wedding all day. .....Then I got my photos. WOW. I seriously never expect photos of ME could look that amazing. I love them all. She sent me a bunch of preview photos the day after the wedding, and I got the link to my finished photos in two and a half weeks. My friends were jealous! They said they waited 6 weeks or more to see a single photo. The digital files were shipped to me on the cutest wooden flash-drive in a keepsake wood box. Loved it. Now I tell everyone I know who's getting married to call Ruthie. I've heard so many stories of bad wedding photographers! This review is long overdue because I couldn't quite figure out the words to write in here. As most little girls do, I dreamt of my wedding day forever and wanted everything to be perfect. It definitely wouldn't have been as perfect without Ruthie there through it all. Ruthie is more than a photographer in so many ways. She not only blew myself and my husband out of the water with her incredible talent and charisma, but also every single one of our wedding guests were raving about her, and still do to this day! Ruthie set up an amazing consultation for my now husband and I that made us feel like we were more than just customers. We hired her to do our engagement photos and couldn't be happier with those. When Ruthie came to shoot our wedding in July, she also brought Lauren to help capture every angle of every possible shot throughout the day. They were an AWESOME team! Ruthie just shot my daughter's wedding last weekend, and it was amazing. She was our photographer for our other daughter's wedding three years ago, and though it's hard to believe, I think she's even better now. There were some weather "challenges", but Ruthie views things like that in a positive light and makes the most of capturing some really creative and unusual shots. More than anything, she is genuinely interested in capturing the meaningful stuff.....not just posed portraits. She definitely has a more journalistic approach, as opposed to a modeling shoot style. Her pictures really tell the "story". She sent us 20+ preview shots withing 48 hours, all of which were amazing. Can't wait to see everything, although it's really going to be tough to select just a small group to be printed. Ruthie is a fantastic photographer! She has done both wedding and baby photos for our family. For our wedding photos, she did creative candid shots. I'm usually the type that switches framed photos around in my house as time goes on, but the ones she did for our wedding are still displayed! She also did the "First Year" package for my daughter. She took newborn shots about a week after she was born and they turned out wonderfully. We had a few sentimental items that we wanted incorporated into the photos, and Ruthie made sure that they were. But she also brought other stuff (i.e., a fuzzy blanket) that she used in the pictures. We have since done three more sessions (my daughter is a little over a year). Ruthie is very professional and had a great energy with my daughter. Kids can be tough to work with sometimes, but Ruthie just kind of let it roll and followed my daughter's lead. When we did photos with both me and my husband with our daughter, Ruthie was great about directing us where to stand, what to do, etc. because we didn't really know what we were doing. I have, and would again, highly recommend her to anyone needing a quality photographer. She is easy to work with and very friendly. The website she uses for ordering her photos is also great. We just used Ruthie Hauge Photography for our wedding on August 2nd and we couldn't have been any happier. We choose the package with two photographers for seven hours, which we felt was the perfect amount of time. Ruthie was amazing throughout the entire process and super easy to talk to. She responded to my calls, emails, and texts promptly and made sure to have all of the details about our wedding. She even drove to our venue early to see if she could find awesome areas for photos and the best lighting. Ruthie helped me figure out a timeline for photos and gave me great suggestions. It has been almost two and a half years since Ruthie and her partner Lauren captured the day my husband and I wed and it is true what they say that the day goes by so quickly you won't remember a lot of it... that is exactly why you need to invest in Ruthie! She, with Lauren, captured every moment beautifully and creatively so I could literally relive the whole day and feel all the emotions that I did (and more) as the day it happened! Ruthie was SUPER easy to work with even when I did screw up my timeline and ended up needing her to stay a little longer at the reception. Ruthie took the photos for our yoga studio's website and they came out incredible! Not only are the pictures stunning, and exactly what I was looking for, Ruthie went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. We are a new studio, just opening, I contacted her a little over a month before our opening date asking if she could squeeze us in - and she did! Look no further, Ruthie is the BEST there is. She did our engagement pictures and we were absolutely blown away by her talent. She doesn't just put you in a pose, snap your picture and call it good. She goes above and beyond. Ruthie did a phenomenal job on the marketing photos for our restaurant. She took the time to talk with us before the photo shoot so we could really plan out our vision. She offered suggestions we never would have thought up on our own. The shoot itself was wonderful. Ruthie was professional, but completely down-to-earth and easy to talk to. It's interesting to watch her work because she seems to react to her environment to create photos I never would have dreamed of. She edited the photos and sent them to us within a week, and I have to say they are AWESOME. Ruthie really has an eye for great composition and light. Ruthie did the photography for my wedding and I would hire her again in a heartbeat! She was more than a photographer, she was part wedding assistant and friend. Ruthie helped me when I had an issue with my dress and brought my husband and I a glass of wine so we could have a moment alone after the ceremony. I would put six stars if they were available! Ruthie shot our wedding on October 2, 2010 and she really connected with her subject. A wedding can be very stressful, especially for a single photographer on duty and she seemed to stay cool and constantly inspired by her surroundings. She paid special personal attention to me and my bride offering her coat because it was cold and bottled water during a break from shooting for us to relax (she said she knew from experience that it may be the only time the bride and groom will have a moment to themselves the entire night!). Ruthie is amazing! As the bride in the wedding I was a little nervous. I hate getting my picture taken but I wanted to have beautiful photos to remember the day.
