I started going to Jennifer Julie on a recommendation of a friend as my regular stylist could not get me in. They have been wonderful and I switched from my long time stylist (just too far to travel there) to Jennifer Julia because of their location and Erin's expertise. I love the vibe and location in the First Ward in a safe area where there is available parking. When Erin was suddenly unavailable for an appointment I had scheduled before my engagement pictures, they were extremely accommodating and found someone else to do my hair. I am writing this review based on the services my wedding party and I received on my wedding day, and that I received during my bridal style trial. Jenn and Chelsea styled our hair the day of the wedding, and Jenn did my trial and most of my styling the day of my wedding. Everyone left feeling their most beautiful and like we were just at a party with our best friends. Jenn custom colored and cut halo extensions to make my style just perfect, and practiced my style on me and members of her staff the weeks before my wedding. The best salon I have ever been to! I first visited Jennifer Julia after my friends raved about it for so long. All the stylists here do the BEST work and the atmosphere is 100% what you want in a salon. Getting your hair done can feel awkard sitting in a chair for hours with a stranger but that is so not the case here. Everyone is so nice and warm to their clients and I always have the best conversations. I leave feeling so great about myself every time. I did end up trying a few different salons just because they were closer after their move but I needed to come back because they other salons just weren't the same. Eyebrow Shaping and Brazilian Wax Laurelle is an absolute master of her craft! She is also one of the sweetest people I've ever met. The entire process was as pleasant as it could've been and she is THOROUGH. Every other place I've been to has missed a couple places or been afraid to get into those harder to reach areas, but not her! The conversation was great and there was ZERO awkwardness. My brows also look amazing because she took her time and made sure they were the best shape for my face-she didn't just remove the hair wherever. I used to see Jen many years ago and was really excited when I found out she opened her own salon. The feel of the salon is extremely comfortable, and they offer wine, mimosas, coffee or tea while you get your hair done. Jen really takes the time to talk to you before she gets started to make sure you get the look you want. When she was done cutting she even made sure to ask me how I wanted it styled that day. I had a great experience here getting my first brazilian wax. Laurelle was very kind and knowledgeable and made me feel feel comfortable and at ease. I am taking away a star because a couple days later, with vacation a few days away, I am noticing that they are quite a lot of missed spots that I have to either shave or tweeze which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place. read more

After reading fellow Yelper reviews, and stalking their Instagram for weeks, I decided to book an appointment. Becca was my stylist and she just GOT me. I explained that I'm not high maintenance and trying to grow, but needed a change (but not too much of a change.) I sound like a stylist's worst nightmare but Becca quickly got to work while we chatted about life and dogs. The outcome? I'm in LOVE! She has gained a new client and would recommend anyone looking for a change to her or the salon in general! First off, Marisa is hands down the best! She is amazing with her balayage technique! The fact that I hear from her saying "No, this isn't the color I want to achieve on her hair" and is working on my hair even harder to make sure I get the perfect color, I'm sold! Fun: Jennifer and the staff are a group awesome girls. Jennifer is someone that you genuinely like talking to. She is really sweet and funny. She also listens and is able to translate what you say into the hairstyle you want. Repeat: Yes! I have found my Buffalo hairdresser! Food: N/A Drinks: As soon as you arrive you are offered a beverage. Coffee, tea, water etc. Likes: 1) My hair!!! I was busy chatting with the girls and suddenly caught a glimpse of my hair style, and stopped talking because I was speechless. I have never seen my hair look that good. 2) It's a clean, beautifully decorated, small salon with two chairs. Very friendly atmosphere. The staff make you feel really welcome. It feels like you are hanging out with your girl friends (but in a professional way). 3) Business hours. For most of my life, I was perfectly contented going to Super Cuts, Fantastic Sams, and any number of other economical yet utilitarian establishments. Then I became privy to Jennifer Julia Salon. Located right in the heart of the Elmwood Village, it is centrally located in the cosmopolitan heart of Buffalo. Upon arrival, I was made very comfortable with a mimosa whilst sitting in the warmly lit waiting area. Jennifer was the consummate professional in assisting me in deciding what should be done with my, what was at the time, unruly hair. Upon heeding her creative input, all the while being welcomed to offer my own input, Jennifer crafted my hair into what is easily the finest it's ever looked. Everyone is really friendly but I'm disappointed with the result. I wanted ashy blonde highlights I showed her a pic. After 3 washes I got no result. For the price I paid my hair looks the same all she added were brassy orange streaks and my greys are still showing. Update: After reaching out to me, Jennifer and her stylists fixed my hair. I planned a big event, and on the day of the event I decided it would be quicker for me to get my hair done than to do it myself. I called when they opened and they were able to fit me in with a stylist. The place is super cute, and everyone's super friendly. I can honestly say this was the best salon experience I've ever had ( I made this Yelp account just to give them a review!) I made my appointment a few days out for a late Tuesday morning (online booking is great!) The salon is comfortably small and incredibly charming, with great background music too! My appointment was with Jen but her and Marisa both worked on my hair. I came in with a just a vague idea that I wanted to take my strawberry blonde hair a little darker and she came up with an amazing idea to mix a coppery color and run it though my roots and blend it out with my current lighter color. The color is so dynamic and unique - I've never been so happy with it! I was so impressed she took the time to be creative and thoughtful instead of just giving me what I asked for! I actually can't wait to go back! I've gotten so so many compliments on my hair and I can't recommend this awesome business enough. I can't express enough how much I love this salon and the ladies that work there! Jen Fontana is the queen of brow shaping and there's no one else I'd trust my face with! In the past few years I've been able to get my hair styled by all of the ladies and I've never once left disappointed. I have long, curly, coarse hair that I know isn't fun to work with, but they make it seem like a breeze! Marissa is the first stylist in a VERY long time that has made my hair look exponentially better every time I go.
