Dr. Levy was able to get us in within a few days to have the procedure done. He performed the frenectomy with local anesthesia and a scalpel. Our two older children had laser frenectomies at other locations, but I preferred the scalpel method because my husband and I were able to stay with our baby the entire time (other practices do not allow parents in the room if the frenectomy is performed with a laser). Dr. Levy did an excellent job of explaining what to expect during the procedure, which took less than 10 minutes total. After the frenectomy, our daughter was more fussy than normal for about 1.5 days, but nursed successfully just 1 hour after the procedure. The nursing pain for me significantly decreased after the procedure. I'm very happy with the level of care and compassion that Dr. Levy and his hygienists gave us!

I had asked if they were covered by my insurance & she said yes so I went ahead and got it. The second time I received it for my other side, the front desk tried to charge me over $400 for it. I was like no- it should be covered that's what I was told by Dr. H. They said okay no worries we'll take care of it. They are calling me now 4 months later saying I have a $700+ bill overdue that I've never received nor was told about when I closed my account in November because of these treatments. Even the person on the phone was telling me she's shocked it's so much because she usually only sees it for $30 a tooth... make it make sense. Where did this bill all of a sudden come from? They better figure it out because I wouldn't have gotten the treatment otherwise if they had stuck to their word. Or had come back multiple times if I had known they were going to be so mistrusting to their word. I'm honestly exhausted of financial malpractice at dentist offices. I had thought I finally found a decent one. But this really took me over the edge. They told me at the end of last year that for 2026 they would stop taking my insurance, Delta Dental, which so many people have. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the patient/doctor experience & financial department & they'll continue to lose patients if they continue this. So beware!

The dentist and owner has always been nice to me so some stars but other staff leave something to be desired... especially the front desk. To the admin: you are interacting with people whom have responsibilities that you'll never know or understand so I'll tell you the advice I got when I was just 15 years old: treat everyone with respect.

The hygienist Rae (?), was AMAZING. She was super friendly. She took a full set of x-rays since I was a new patient and then gave me a pair of sunglasses to put on before she started my cleaning. They had numerous flavor options for the polishing paste. I was offered cherry, vanilla, mint and cookie dough. She checked on my comfort numerous times while she was working and was very thorough. There is a large flat-screen TV hanging high in front of the chair so you can watch TV while they work on your teeth. Once she completed the cleaning, Dr. Thackenkary came in to do the final examination. He did a complete oral cancer screen and checked the condition of my jaw, teeth and bite. He also explained about the pH of my saliva and how it helped to prevent cavities, which was interesting. He did not try to "sell" me anything else, like tooth whitening. Every other dentist I've been to has always tried to get me to pay for something else. Dr. Thackenkary advised me to come back in 6 months for my next routine visit and gave me a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Neither Dr. Thackenkary or Rae were condescending or rude. I've been to some dentists who get a bit nasty when they are telling you about your teeth and if there is any plaque or anything. Not these two! Rae just explained how to better floss my bottom molars to help prevent buildup in the future. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit. Friendly staff and straightforward dental care. I highly recommend others visit Opal Ridge Dental for their dental needs. You'll be pleased.

I used to go to this place for years. They always offered me the mouth guard which I never…read morepurchased because of the price. Also I have sleep apnea which makes it hard to wear a night guard since I have a mask that covers both mouth and nose. They mentioned there was a mouth guard that would help with sleep apnea/snoring as well but they said that the insurance usually does not cover it. Last time I visited, I had a new insurance company that covered medical and dental insurance. I asked if they could ask for an estimate to see if they would cover the sleep apnea mouth guard. (Out of all the times I visited they always showed me the same mouth guard device that had two pieces and was connected my a piece of plastic/metal that would push your jaw forward to help with snoring) After they check with the insurance they said that the insurance would partially cover the mouth guard. When I was on the visit they scanned both my top and bottom teeth. I thought that they understood that due to the sleep apnea I would not be able to use a regular mouth guard since it makes it hard to breathe with a full mask on. When I got there to pick up my mouth guard they showed me a piece that THEY HAD NEVER SHOWN ME BEFORE. The piece was only for the top part of the teeth. I asked why I was getting this and they said that they told me that this is what I agreed on. Which is not true. I was never shown this piece. If they would have shown me this. I would have not gotten it. They knew that a regular mouth guard will be hard to use with a CPAP machine. They said to try and see if it would work. I did. And just like I knew it would happen it doesn't work. I did see that the claim the submitted to the insurance was for 600 and my co pay was 146. Which I paid. For a one piece mouth guard that I cant use. And I cannot return. It's been very frustrating and disappointing to be treated like this. They knew my condition and I was not shown the second "mouth guard" only the sleep apnea one. They tried to call me and offered to put the $146 towards the sleep apnea mouth guard but the price for it would be $700. I would not recommend this place. Do not get the mouth guard even though the offer it often. Now I have a $146 device that I cannot return and I cannot use.
