I have spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars on Alterations with Cecilia. My…read morebackground is fashion design. I know a talented seamstress when I meet one. Cecilia is phenomenal at reworking the lines of a garment. Those who complained were either not clear with her or had expectations of looking like a fashion model after they received their altered garments back. It doesn't work that way. Cecilia is able to tailor well-made garments so that they fit even better and look like they are custom-made. If a cheap item is brought to her you're going to get a cheap item back. The only thing she can do is work with the lines of the fashion, not the fabric that you're bringing to her. Have realistic expectations and invest in good clothing. If you do that and you use an excellent seamstress like Cecilia, your clothing will look like it was made for you. She can't make a silk purse from a sows ear, so don't expect her to. People need to be fair and realistic and plan expectations properly. Don't blame the seamstress for cheap clothing. Trust this woman with your garments. But invest in good clothing to prevent disappointment. Cecilia is highly, highly recommended by this customer who has a background in the fashion world.

The dress was complicated because it had an under layer as well as an over layer and both were too long. Lena did a wonderful job to where I couldn't even tell what she had done, but it fits great and the pattern on the over layer looks the same as it did before. Lena works out of her home so you do need to make an appointment beforehand. Also, she is not cheap but I think you get what you pay for because it always looks great.

We did the Sewing 101 class on a Saturday morning. We thought we'd maybe come in and learn how to use a machine, but we even made a little project while we were there! We started not knowing how to thread a sewing machine, and 1.5 hours later we walked out with bags we made! The instructor and the assistant were both very nice. There were only 2 of us in the class, and some kids who were working on projects did stop in a bit later. The instructor explained you can also book a time to bring in a project you're working on, and they'll help you make it happen. This little girl was literally sewing a whole dress from a pattern! They also offer a Sip and Sew class you can book with your friends. You can bring wine, you get to pick your fabric, and they'll walk you through making bags. Overall, we had THEE BEST time! But after talking to family members in California who had the same service done at alterations places, I realized I was scammed. They were charged $10-$15 and here I was paying $45. Never again.

It is difficult to put into words how incredible of an experience we had at Lynn Fashion & Bridal…read more I bought my wedding dress off the rack at least three sizes too large and was incredibly nervous about getting alterations done so that it would fit perfectly. On top of the extensiveness of the alterations, the fabric of my dress is incredibly delicate and intricate, so I'm sure it was a challenge to work with. Tina and the other staff here are some of the nicest people. She said that they put love into their work, and both my parents and I could not have agreed more. They were kind and attentive and you can tell how much care they put into their work both during measurements and their masterful sewing. Beyond just doing the alterations, Tina made sure my mom and I felt comfortable putting up the bustle for my dress and teaching me how to sit in a chair without pulling on it. Every detail was thought of. We were incredibly impressed. Their work is actual magic! One appointment for measurements and one appointment to try it on and it was an absolute perfect fit. I will absolutely be coming back for any clothing that I need altered in the future.
