They don't over or under medicate, they are kind, they don't send one to the ER at the drop of a hat, they provide a cell number that they answer directly at night (and into the morning). I can't say enough about how much anxiety and stress they have lifted from the job of being a parent. A recent example: my son has been coughing for weeks but has had no fever (summer cold). All of a sudden, he spike a big fever and is up all night. I call the cell number and get Dr. Porter on the way to drop her kids at camp. She tells me to call the office and bring my son in asap. We arrive at 8:30 and are seen by 8:45. They also take a look at my daughter. We left at 9:15 with a pneumonia diagnosis and medication at the CVS. Simple, no stress or worry about waiting with coughing kids in waiting room forever, no ER. I love Dr. Porter (and Dr. Chiang). My kids love her too and call her Dr. Popsicle. Who can argue with that?

Meg from Tova health handled all the admin stuff. She made scheduling, paperwork, and setting-up the patient portal super simple. When it was time to transition beyond the first two months of care, Dr. Z and Meg helped us find the best pediatrician and make sure they had all our records. Awesome experience! I was not able to get out of bed for over a week after the birth, so our first meeting was with her sitting at the foot of my bed. Thank goodness we chose her for my daughter's pediatrician because there was no way I would have been able to take her to an office. I really needed the fourth trimester care to help me process the trauma from birth, and Dr. Z let me cry and repeat the story over and over again. I'll never forget the time she hugged me and promised me something good would come out of it. She was also provided excellent care to my daughter. I will never forget our crazy first meeting and her kindness. She listened and provided me care when my own OB/GYN's office failed to do so. It is absolutely ludicrous the postpartum care we receive. This fourth trimester care model should be mandatory everywhere.

I couldn't have had a better experience with Dr. Lavin. At first, I didn't realize that she specializes in pediatrics, but she was happy to accept me as a patient, as I'm under 24yo. We discussed the vaccinations I needed for an upcoming trip and within a couple of days, her lovely assistant Linda called me to confirm all the details and have the vaccs ordered. Due to the winter storms, everything got backed up so Linda gave me a few recommendations for travel clinics. Meanwhile, as I dealt with that, Linda called to check in with me and make sure everything was going smoothly, which I greatly appreciated. Despite having the vaccinations elsewhere, Dr. Lavin still wanted to have me in for a physical and to discuss my travel plans. After a whole ordeal with getting the vaccinations yesterday, I called to say I wouldn't be able to make it to my 11am apt, but Dr. Lavin told me to come in whenever I could. The office was very easy to find - just a few blocks from Coolidge Corner in a large office building, on the third floor. I walked in and Linda and Dr. Lavin were incredibly happy to see me (even though I was at least 3 hours late!) After a few quick tests (height, weight, hearing) with Linda, I met with Dr. Lavin, discussed my medical history in detail, and had the physical. She took down every little detail and gave me some helpful suggestions based on my family's medical history. She explained that after years of working with a couple of local hospitals, she was tired of not having close relationships with her patients, which is why she decided to open her own practice. I wish there were more people/doctors like her out there! It's really refreshing to hear that with the state of medicine these days. I've really enjoyed the whole experience with Dr. Lavin and Linda and am very appreciative of everything they've helped me with in the last couple of weeks! I'll be back in a couple of months for bloodwork and will probably be upset when I become too old to be a patient anymore!
