I used to go to Jennie's for haircuts, manicures and pedicures. The last time I went and had a pedicure I got a fungal infection on two of my toenails. I stopped going for pedicures. It's taken me a long time to almost get rid of it. Here is the interesting part. I went in for a haircut, and the pedicurist saw me and said I haven't been in for a long time and asked if I would like to schedule a pedicure. I'm assuming she remembered me because I give good tips. I told her I have a fungal infection from the last time and I still have it. She said no problem; she would still give me a pedicure. I am not sure, but if someone has a fungal infection, should the salon be giving them pedicures. Isn't that how I got it? I feel the bowl wasn't cleaned properly or they didn't have an autoclave for the instruments. Well, I am still trying to get rid of this fungal infection. But I don't even go for haircuts anymore. I don't think it's very clean there. read more

I came here for the first time. I have long thick hair. I made my appointment for highlights with color and a trim. I only wanted a partial highlight but she stated I'm still going to charge you for a full highlight. So I told her in that case I want more highlight for the full price of the highlights you're going to charge me for. She said I really don't have time to do your hair. The appointment was made correctly but I felt she was very inexperienced dealing with long hair. As she did my hair she continued to complain about how she had to use more product and really didn't have time to do my hair. She was very rough with me tugging and pulling. She would constantly tell me it was going to cost more to do my hair. She then told me after my hair was colored that she didn't have time to cut it. That I'll have to make another appointment to have it cut. Then she hesitated in wanting to at least blow dry it. She had to have help but by that time my head was so sore from all the pulling that I couldn't take the mistreatment anymore. I got up and paid the bill. On 11/11/23 , my daughter and I had facials done by Ashley. Our issue was not with her ( my rating is based on the customer service aspect) I am referring to the 2 young dark haired receptionists. ( I regret not asking for their names). I had been given 2 -$50 dollar gifts cards which I used at this appt. My daughter had lost her actual physical gift card that she had obtained in July 2023, but when calling Jenni's , she was given the number of the gift card over the phone and told by the employee , it was "in the system" Upon checking out , both receptionists , at different times, said there was NO such $50 gift card in the system. I disagreed but didn't have more details as my daughter was in her appt with Ashley. I left, then returned with the actual gift card number ( given over the phone to my daughter by an Jenni's employee) and was still told, no such gift card existed. I've purchased many gift cards at this business over the years, but after this experience, I will never be back nor recommend this salon/spa read more

Was recommended to come here for a massage. Called and made an appt from the business card a friend shared. So, I never went to their website. The person scheduling offered one time, then asked me if I could change it 3 more times after that. Each time I agreed. When I asked how much is the service for a 90 minute massage, she quoted me a price. I agreed and appt was booked. The massage was fantastic! Definitely not a high end spa. But it was nice, clean, timely, and the masseuse, Jennifer (not the owner), was fantastic! HOWEVER, I was not charged the price I was originally quoted. And when I questioned that, I was told there is nothing that could be done. I requested to have the contact info for the manager - which seemed to annoy the woman at the desk to give me the name of the manager. When I spoke with the manager the next day, she said she was aware of my situation. And told me that she doesn't know how I came up with that number. Well, I heard it. Being made to feel that I was making something up, and that your staff weren't the ones to do the error is rude and poor customer service. I would've absolutely booked regular massages and tip very high with that masseuse. To me, price was not the issue. But when you have poor or no customer service, then I won't bother to give any business. And will continue to tell many people about how this business is 100% NOT WORTH THE EXPERIENCE. read more

Stephanie did a great job with my blowout and cut. The shampoo was amazing, starting with a clarifying shampoo. I appreciate that she recognizes that my hair needed a bit more shampooing. The blow out was quick and efficient and she then flat ironed my hair to finish the style. I've gotten lots of compliments and my hair is so bouncy and shiny. I'll be a regular customer. I get my hair cut and highlighted at Jenni's, and have had the occasional manicure there. It is a very professionally run salon which tries to achieve some level of standards across their stylists, especially regarding record keeping - they take extensive notes on your hair, treatments, cut, and even personal life (for conversation), and I really appreciate never having to remind them what I've had done. I am getting used to a new stylist there after my beloved Lacy left, and while my new stylist is much more green, she is improving. As another reviewer has said (correctly) that this isn't really a day spa - there is no lounge, sauna, showers, etc, to make use of after a service. The gripe I have about this place is that they do not have enough nail techs - it is nearly impossible to get an appointment less than two weeks out for anything nail related. Thus, I rarely get my nails done here, even though they do an excellent job. I would prefer one-stop services and would give them much more business if it was easier to schedule. read more

After searching for weeks for a place that does eyelash tinting, I finally found Jenni's! I had a regular place I went in my hometown and was looking for a new one. The esthetician who did my eyelashes was phenomenal (super friendly and gentle). I'm used having the tint jammed in my eye and leaving with eyes that burn like hell but at Jenni's, she made sure that my eyes were okay and she was super careful about the application. It's by far the best salon in the town I have experienced. If you don't get it right for the first time, don't hesitate to confront it to them. I have been going to Sara B at Jenni's for several years. It wasn't until I had my hair and makeup done for my daughters wedding in Madison, WI (at a salon in Madison) that I realized I needed to write a review. Sara does a great job, she always listens to me very carefully and lets me know if something just won't work for my hair. She always goes above and beyond what she needs to do! The salon the bridal party and I went to in Madison -another story! The brides hair was beautiful, however the rest of the party - not so much! One gal even went home, washed out and did her own hair. It wasn't cheap either (updo and makeup $204!). Never again will I go somewhere without having a trial first! Let me start off by saying I have been going to Jenni's for 5-6 years. The first stylist I went to at Jenni's I had been seeing for around 4 years. We had a good relationship, and I was really happy with her overall. The first major issue I had was about a year and a half ago when I went in for a cut/all over color. I told her at the appointment I wanted to keep the color dark. My hair is almost black, so there should have been no confusion when I asked to keep it dark. My hair looked fine when I left, but after about 2 washes the outgrowth at my roots (about 2 inches) was noticeably lighter than my ends, and had a reddish hue to it. I had NEVER in the history of going there asked my stylist to lighten my color. I tried to brush it off, but ultimately decided on going back in about 3 weeks later to get it fixed due to a vacation coming up. When I went in she immediately noticed the color difference between my roots and ends. She thought it was so strange for the color to take that way, and asked if my diet has changed, or if I had started a new prescription. Lol. I hadn't, but even so this is a moot point. No one wants to pay for a professional color and have unprofessional results. IMO, she misformulated the color due to the way it took to the outgrowth. What I was hoping is that she would own up to the mistake and relieve a portion of the cost for the color. I understand 3 weeks is a long time to wait to go back in and expect a correction free of charge. But for her to acknowledge the color difference at my roots and to indirectly blame it on me was unprofessional. Upon checking out was charged full price for the color. I brought this incident to the attention of a manager before my next scheduled appointment because I was hesitant on going back. The manager said that according to the stylist, I went back in because I wanted to "change it up", which was a complete lie. The manager said she said she wanted to keep my business and suggested I go to another stylist, which is what I did. Soon after this, there was an incident with a hair straightener I ordered. The plates on the straightener were not uniform when clamping down and had a noticeable gap, and would only straighten a portion of a strand of hair. I asked to return it and they said there are no refunds on tools. Bring it in and have your stylist show you how to use it. Lol. I know how to use a straightener. It ended up needing to be broken in, which I did by leaving a hair tie tightly wrapped around it, and it's fine now. But why would I ever buy a hair tool from Jenni's in the future if I can't get a refund on a faulty/defective product? When I said it wasn't working properly, they should have allowed me to return it, and then sent it back to PM. My next stylist has been fine. We have had no mishaps with the color. Although there hasn't been enough time blocked off to do my cut and color in 1 session (also double booking going on), which has resulted in my cuts being sub par. I started scheduling my cuts separately to avoid this, but she would take what I said too literally. If I needed thinning out, she would overly thin it. If I asked for longer layers, they would be so long that the cut itself looked too blunt. She would not ask follow up questions to get a better idea of what I was thinking. She wouldn't even offer show me what the back of my head looked like before I left. I got the impression that she's nervous to do anything on me due to what happened with the other stylist, which made me uncomfortable. In hindsight, I should have left after the incident with the first stylist. I think they labeled me as a customer impossible to satisfy, and I think the manager questioned the validity of my claim on what happened with the color mishap. I do think that the stylists at Jenni's are probably the best in town, but I don't think that means much. I know for a fact that this salon would not hold a candle to any similarly priced salons the suburbs, or Chicago, and therefore I will not be returning. read more

I sent my mother here for her birthday for the first time. She said her massage was amazing and the place very modern and clean. Downside is that it is NOT a day spa. There was no sauna, steam room, etc. that would consider this a day spa. I would rather spend the extra ten bucks and go to a real day spa and take advantage of the amenities. read more

Aside from styling hair, a salon has to make the client feel valued. Jenni's fell short of this and I have never been back. I arrived for my appointment but the receptionist told me in no uncertain terms, "You do NOT have an appointment and we are NOT a walk-in salon!" Well, I sure DID have an appointment but I should have asked for a card at the last appointment when I made it. *Someone* didnt enter it in the system, or whatever glitch occured ... I was referred by word of mouth to this salon. It's fantastic! Upscale, clean & very modern male. It has tv's playing ESPN & news. They offer complementary drinks (including I believe, Bud Light). They are always very welcoming & friendly. I have been with Alex now for several months and my haircuts have been extremely consistent. They charge $25 for a basic cut & wash and that's pretty reasonable for a "real" haircut. I definitely recommend Mitch's to any guy looking for a great haircut. read more

She is amazing and my hair always looks great afterwards. I love this salon. They wash your hair in what I would describe as a "tranquility room." I have been going to Jenni's for about 3 years now every 6-8 weeks. I LOVE it there. Not only is the staff so friendly and accommodating they are good at what they do. It is clean and they really treat you so well. I went to Crystal for a year and a half, she is amazing with color, best they have. But she was sick one time and I got thrown with a newer girl, thinking I would be disappointed and I was not, now I use her, Jacey regularly. Every Stylist knows what there doing and not only do what you ask, but will really help you find a style you love and that will look good on YOU! Ugh! A year and a half since the horrid haircut. STILL growing out layers that were supposed to be cut "long." Despite haircuts to try to help this cut grow and to try to make my hair look decent, I am still struggling with weird layers that aren't symmetrical and don't blend together well. I'm not sure what it is that makes Jenni's think their salon stylists are worth the prices they charge, but their prices are a bit ridiculous for Bloomington /Normal area. They use terms like "master stylist," but the master stylists were trained at Jenni's Paul Mitchell School. Jenni has poured a great deal of money into her buildings, and she treats her employees very well, which is terrific for them, but you are paying big city prices for Central Illinois training and service. I've tried Jenni's several times now for their hair salon services and each time been disappointed with the results. read more
