I left a message asking to reschedule and cancel my appointment I had made the day prior as I'm a college student with a rapidly changing schedule. The message went unreturned for hours and when I finally received a call back, I was met with the attitude of, "Well I wouldn't have scheduled if I knew I couldn't make it." Extremely unprofessional and rude, especially when you don't know what is going on in a customer's life. Now I'm out money without a service because of a lack of communication. If you only allow 24 hours notice without charge, don't allow next-day appointments. I visited Kirstin with a very specific haircut while also wanted to go completely silver. She got my hair the color I wanted in just two sessions from a dark brown (natural hair that was not virgin) and also absolutely killed my haircut every time! There's not a request she can't fulfill. She will find a way to make your hair perfect and looking amazing. Not only that, my hair was always so healthy and soft even after all the bleach. She never disappoints. She's also just such a fun and bright person. I loved talking with her, but I'm pretty introverted and she was totally okay with how quiet I was. The salon itself is very clean and cute! The front desk people were always nice and it seemed the entire staff was on good terms with each other. Conversations at the salon were one on one or an entire salon convo, so never a dull moment. I loved it here and I'm so sad I had to move away! I would recommend Kirstin and this salon a billion times over! read more

Went here for the first time and for a cut and full highlights. Stylist was Taylor. She did an excellent job! Very happy with the results. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I didn't find out until I was going to pay that tips have to be cash or venmo. When I made the appt, I told the receptionist that it was my first time coming to the salon. At that point, it would have been very helpful for her to share that. I always tip 20% (if service is good), which I generally add to cc payment. Since I wasn't aware of their tip process, I only had $19 in cash on me, which meant I couldn't tip my stylist the full 20% I wanted to. I was mortified and embarrassed when I realized this. I will be swinging back by to drop off the rest of my tip to Taylor, but just wanted to mention that it would be a good idea to tell new clients this when they book an appointment. read more

I booked an appointment with Kim and had no clue what to expect! Well first off the location is really nice with a little boutique store as you walk in with all kinds of good things, The front desk associate was very friendly and handled the phone as we'll as a walk in customer very nicely, Kim came out to great me and her bubbly smile and personality made you feel at ease right away. She took me to wash my hair and then to her work station. You could tell right away that Kim really enjoyed her work. She ask what type of cut and how I was doing, The cut was fantastic and I couldn't of ask for anything better. I was traveling back to Chicago driving my Convertible VW Bug with my new haircut blowing in the wind. I just had to go 100 to make sure. ha ha Anyway a huge thank you to Kim for her wonderful personality, beautiful smile and caring about me. I decided to bleach and dye my hair at home and it was bad. I called and was able to come in for a hair consult the next day and the following day I got an appointment. Brianna, under Dejais supervision, fixed my hair. They cut it, dyed it, and treated my hair because of the damage I caused it. My hair turned out amazing and it's the softest it's ever been! They know what they're doing and Dejais does an amazing job teaching. Genuinely had a great experience and you could tell that they care about their clients! read more

I signed up for yelp just so I could leave this review because our experience was so disappointing. If I could leave less than one star I would. My daughter went for a prom & performance style. I called ahead and aaid please don't use bobby pins because of the performance she will be in. They said they could make a style which was prom-worthy without pins. The stylist struggled, redid it 4 times, and in the end there were 2 french braids on top, joined at the base, braided into one braid and then looped into a bun which flopped off the back of her head. The bungee style pony tail holders were twisted in & visible Looking so messy. In the end we had to re do her hair when she got home. when I called for a refund I was told: I should have called that day (we were too rushed to re do the hair; why does it matter when we call anyway?) We should have brought our own alternative barrettes and we should have known to bring our own barrettes without them telling us to do so. The problem was the challenge of no bobby pins (fine; if it's too challenging let me know when we made the appt and we would go elsewhere). They would offer a gift certificate for a wash & blow out (The poor style cost $72!!!! an insane amount for braids pulled into a bun). This was soooooooo disappointing for my daughter's first prom. read more

Updated review: Jackie is no longer there. I saw two different stylists in her place. I'm not going to name any names. The first stylist I saw during Jackie's absence took an inch off my hair without discussing it with me first. She said it was due to the weight of my hair...which is ridiculous. I requested layers in my hair and layers are the solution to heavy hair, not cutting off length. Very frustrating since I was trying to grow my hair out and an inch off long hair is a lot. She blew dry my naturally wavy hair and didn't use correct product, so it started to turn into a big poofball. She styled it with a flat iron and I looked like some high school girl going to a dance...not flattering at all. I didn't let management know because there wasn't anything they could do about it, so there was no point complaining. I decided to choose a different stylist for my next visit. The second stylist I saw next during Jackie's absence was better than the previous one, but I have since switched to another salon and found that she didn't cut my hair properly (which I could tell anyway). She cut my layers straight across and that's not how it should be done. She was better than the previous stylist, but my hair still wasn't right. After that visit, I was told Jackie wouldn't be returning and I haven't been back since the summer. I've moved on to someone experienced who does an excellent job with my hair now. Original review: Jackie is the best. I have naturally wavy/curly and I don't straighten it. It has been difficult finding a stylist who can cut my hair correctly and also not disregard my desire to wear it curly. I am finally happy with my hair because of Jackie. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! After my hair/makeup person for my wedding suddenly backed out, the ladies at Magnolia were SO accommodating! Not only was I able to get booked so quickly, but they made arrangements for my bridesmaids AND I was able to get a trial before hand....just 3 weeks out! Jessica who did my hair was awesome and did exactly what I wanted! She was so sweet and made me feel comfortable. Maci did the makeup and she was awesome! The airbrush makeup was so lightweight and lasted all day long. Also---this is THE PLACE to go for a good spray tan! Dijais made me feel so comfortable during the spray and I was amazed by the results--it looks very natural! I would recommend Magnolia salon to anyone! read more
