Until Covid and we moved to take care for mom, had we missed our fall stays. Rodney over the years has been the most wonderful host. Recently Rodney and his wife Debbie have graciously allowed me to Memorialize my husband and our stays together at the Breakers. i thought a perfect way to do that was to buy 2 LL Bean Adirondack chairs for the front lawn for everyone to enjoy the view as we did over the year. I hope readers of the reviews choose to stay and enjoy the Breaker's for the view, the hospitality, the beast breakfast in town, but most of all the sense of peace that you get when you stay at The Breakers and walk on Higgins Beach, it's life changing.

Our…read morehosts Gretchen and Keith were warm and friendly and we felt at ease with them in their gorgeous historic home. We stayed in the "Vintage" room which was spacious and yet cozy. The bed was very comfortable. We were able to open the large bedroom window and feel the lovely cool Maine air. The adjacent shared bathroom was large and so luxurious with its double sinks. The home is beautifully decorated with a variety of antiques and special touches.The library and sitting room common areas seemed both stately and comfortable at the same time. The entire home was clean and inviting. A scrumptious homemade breakfast was the icing on the cake! Wonderful. The wraparound porch is large and the garden area and is calming and serene. The flowers around the home are magnificent. There is also a raised screened in porch area off the kitchen to relax in. The home is close to Sebago lake and the New Hampshire border and you can easily walk to the center of town to do some antique shopping or eat at Krista's restaurant. Even had fresh local scones from the secret bakery in Wolfeboro. One thing should be mentioned. They have 6 dogs on the property. If you don't like dogs or are allergic, this is not the place for you. But for me, it was great. I love dogs. There were well behaved and the whole property is invisible fenced, including the inside. You don't have to worry about them going into your room. All in all, this place is great. I would highly recommend Lake View Inn. It's the perfect lake regions B & B.

These are some of the things David made: lobster souffle; turkey bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast puff pastry; raspberry custard; pancakes with wild blueberry compote; lobster home fries. Honestly, some of our best meals in Portland were eaten right in this very B&B. He even puts snacks in the second floor lounge area (there's also tea and chips) every day, and on an especially hot day he put out a pitcher of pink lemonade. It seems like almost all the cooking and cleaning is done by him. I'm not sure how he manages it and yet everything is flawless, but there you go. Reserve your room early because it was booked solid the whole time we were there. Totally worth it.

We stayed in the Brook Bridge room and would gladly do so again. The room is gorgeous and spacious, with an entryway with a desk and a door to the garden area, followed by the bedroom and bath. The bed was a king size and the mattress very comfortable. The bath had plenty of hot water. Though we brought our own toiletries, they had the usual things in the room (shampoo, conditioner, soap, cotton puffs, Q-tips), plus bath salt. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room with supplies for coffee. If you want something special, bring some K-cups along. The owner is congenial and makes you feel right at home...a real hostess. There are cookies and soda in the registration area, plus a microwave, a shared (among all the guests) mini fridge, and an electric kettle and teas. I brought some packets of hot chocolate and made it there in the morning. The breakfast is excellent. Remember, it's a bed and breakfast, so the owner is making the same breakfast for everyone, save food-isms. We had a breakfast sandwich the first morning (poached eggs, cheese (Gouda, I believe, but I could be wrong), spinach leaves, tomato, roasted English muffins...served with fresh fruit and grilled pineapple. The fresh fruit was originally supposed to include something I was allergic to, so the owner left out that ingredient for everyone to avoid cross-contamination. The second morning was French toast with poached pears and fresh blueberries. She doesn't put milk out, since most people don't drink it for breakfast these days, but ask if you want it. She'll pour you a glass! The first night we were there, my husband ordered up a couple of surprises: flowers in the room (they were lovely!) and a meat and cheese plate that was wonderful. There were three types of cheese, one meat, a hot pepper jelly, two types of crackers, and fresh seedless grapes. The jelly was so good, I asked for the name so I could buy some more for my husband. I also purchased a cookbook there, and it has some great recipes in it. The only negative I had about the place was that the site said there was a DVD player in the rooms, so I brought along some movies to watch with my husband in the evening. It turns out there was no DVD player, but they do have extensive cable, so we still had something to watch when we wanted to relax in the room.

We counted at least 8 tables with chairs on the pretty porch, but were told we could not do that. They should rethink that, IMO. Our tea arrived in small, personal teapots, but within a few minutes, the tea became cold- there was no tea-cozy or tea warmer provided to keep it hot. I have been to many tearooms and never not had a warmer for my tea. The four sandwich offerings were pretty enough- but very bland in taste. The scones came out with the dessert selections, oddly enough- which we did enjoy very much. Overall, we were not very impressed with our experience, and probably will not return.
