I had a slightly abnormal problem to fix where I needed to find a way to fit my monitor mount's desk clamp to my new desk, which was unfortunately far thicker than the accepted size. Upon arriving at Jere's, one of the staff approached me immediately to assist. I briefly explained my issue and showed him both my clamp and some photos of the desk. Within 5 minutes, he came up with the perfect solution and provided all the needed parts. TLDR: Jere's has great prices matched with even better customer service. Five stars all the way. The epitome of a neighborhood small business with big values, customer service and knowledge. I've lived in the neighborhood for 38 years, my entire life. I've come here for items I've needed but didn't exactly know what I needed many times over the years. However, today they blew my mind when I stopped by to figure out how to remove a nut I stripped on my motorcycle. The guy who's name I didn't catch, followed me out to my bike to take a look--next thing I know, he's got a bunch of tools and is trying to help me remove it. He said to me he has a young guy working there who loves motorcycles, and he was gonna ask him to come out and give it a shot. Nick, the younger guy came out, and in a matter of 15 minutes, did for me, what I've been trying to do for three days. Well managed NYC hardware stores have a style all their own. Every open space on every wall and column and door is covered in pegboard and thousands of hooks. Each of those hooks adds to the stores rich unique inventory. Five types of stud finders, different drywall anchor sets, etc. Staff members were friendly and helpful, while not overbearing. If they sense you want to shop, they leave you alone. But they're also very willing to offer free advice on home projects. Jere's hardware is awesome Jere's hardware is a good option to buy tools and hardware stuff.the store is huge and very organized inside. They do cary all the need for snow shoveling . Automatic or manual they do carry all . Most importantly they vary the best brand paint, Benjamin more, with a good price. Last year I have all the paint from here and it was fare price . This place is tops! It's impossible to get the same kind of knowledge and service from a Home Depot. I had a plumbing issues this morning. I had a leaky supply line from somewhere....! Jere's is the traditional hardware general store that has a lot of different tools, parts and supplies. It also is a supplier of Benjamin Moore paints. The staff is very knowledgeable and try very hard to meet customer requirements. You can let them know what you are trying to accomplish with your project, and if they have any tips, they will offer advice. When it comes to painting projects, Deanna "Dee", is very helpful. She assisted me with ideas for a DIY wainscoting project I was doing for my house. She explained the effects of the lighting, darkness vs. lightness of the paint colors, etc. Dee was open to hear what I wanted to do, let me know some of her experiences and other customers' experiences to assist me in making my decisions. She guided me right because I am getting a lot of favorable feedback on the project and how the colors seem to be just right. read more

When I worked at a museum nearby I used to come here all the time to get parts for exhibits and general supplies or whatnot that I didn't want to order through our purchasing department. Other than the lack of parking Jere's was always the best place to go: It was easy to find what I needed and the staff was helpful and polite. I hadn't been in Jere's for over a decade but this week I needed a pair of wrenches. I brought in a sample of the bolts and nuts that I intended to work on. Almost as soon as I entered a staff member asked if I needed help. I showed him the nut and said I needed a pair of small/light wrenches that fit. He asked me a few questions and I told him I didn't know enough to answer him, he said to not worry about it, then found the wrenches I needed in about 10 seconds even without the information he had requested from me. I paid and was on my way! That was a perfect shopping experience with a person who knows tools, knows his inventory, and had a good attitude with an ignorant customer. I could have paid less at Amazon but who knows if I would have gotten the right wrenches I needed for the job, not to mention having to wait a couple of days for the package to arrive. Use to be the best even though they are pricey. Called them to replace leaky hose on bbq. Came , fix it, and delivered to my home! So happy. A couple of months later it started to leak again! Went to store and asked them to fix it. Gave my info so they can pick up. Waited all day and no one came called two times and the answer was our drivers are busy. I asked when since I needed to use it for an upcoming party. They refused to give me a time, day or month! I called the next day and George the manager asked me what my problem was lol. Like I can wait til it snows! After two days of nothing I fixed it my self and returned the faulty part to jere's hardware. This manager was so irritating. He wanted the receipt even though it's in the computer. Then offered credit. I said forget it i dispute the entire charge. He then decided to comply and give me cash. Won't be going back ever. My wife and I visited Jere's in the community where we go for hardware supplies. Three years ago my wife bought me a Stihl chain saw for Christmas at Jere's, so I could do some work at our country home. After using it successfully for three years I ran into a problem trying to get it started. I bought a new chain and bar, cleaned the saw, and arranged to bring it in for service. Your representative, George took a look at the saw, drained the oil and fuel, and found the problem that I had created mixing them up. He also looked at our newly purchase bar and chain from another Stihl dealer out of town and found a problem with the wrong chain. He exchanged and replaced the correct chain, put the saw together, gave my wife and me safety instructions, took the saw outside, and started it up with no problem. Your representative was very professional, courteous, and extremely forgiving of my blunder in putting the fuel and oil in the incorrect chambers. After making sure my wife and I were aware of all his safety instructions, he shook our hands, wished us the best, and sent us on our way. Save your money and take your business elsewhere. Every time I go in there for Benjamin Moore paint, they try to sell me paint plus primer, which is more expensive and takes more to finish a paint job. Yesterday, I went in and specifically ordered Benjamin Moore Regal. When I got home and opened the paint and started painting, I was confused as to why the paint was so thick. After examining the can, ( you guessed it), they sold me BM Regal Select, which is paint plus primer. Exactly what I didn't want. So now I need more paint to finish the room! But I won't get it from Jere's. Moreover, I come from a family of homeowners, all of whom spend thousands of dollars a year at Jeres. But they will be taking their business elsewhere. Really disappointed in this store. I recently purchased a quart of paint. When I returned the paint with the store receipt they charged me a 10% re-stocking fee. Unbelievable. First the stores typical prices are excessive then to add insult to injury they charge a restocking fee. The woman at the counter insisted that all companies do this. I informed her that Home Depot never does and they take merchandise back without the store receipt. She then told me that that was bad business. I replied that they seemed to be getting along well enough being client centered. She insisted that they would be going out of business as a result of their lack of re-stocking policy. You can't make this stuff up. They have seen the last of me and I hope anyone else who is price and courtesy conscious. I purchased a weed trimmer from Jere's hardware yesterday, thinking Il'l just pick one out, pay for it and figure everything out when I got home. They took it out of the box, registered the product for me in the store and showed me how it works. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service. I Don't often need to shop at a hardware store, but I would always go back to this store when I do need anything. I highly recommended Jere's. Check the prices very carefully. They rip you off. I paid $15 for 20 little common screws and nuts. I was very upset.

I live and shop locally. Today they charged me 10% restocking. Thats OK. But they are inconsistent applying this policy - and the folks working there are a mix of pleasant, totally ignorant about plumbing, finishing, building (mostly this is the case for all questions about how to use stuff they sell) or just unfriendly (take the scowling folks who work there...) and the selection can be quite abysmal for certain jobs. The prices, however, everyone can agree, are super marked up. I really never enjoy going into this store. What they could do to improve things? Add freindly people with knowledge about the things they sell. My bottom line - there are many many other places to go where they treat you to these basic things. read more
