On a…read moreWednesday morning, our party of four was seated promptly and enjoyed perusing the ample options on the menu. This adorable restaurant had such a cozy, small town vibe, but with such a wide range of menu options from basic to refined. We were seated near the kitchen and Carl helped guide us through options, particularly one of the specials which we adored: Double Bacon Parmesan Hash -- so many layers of flavor, enticing and balanced. The waffles and pancakes were a highlight for the kids, my smoked salmon eggs Benedict was decent. For drinks, I appreciated the coffee refills to keep us warm that chilly morning and the kids loved the Tangerine Dream drink with tummy cream foam on top, while the adults tried out the Cinnamon Toast Drink, garnished with a cinnamon stick. Definitely would visit First Watch again! Although we realized it's a chain here, it definitely had small business vibes and did a great job with the food, service, and a lovely environment. Thanks y'all!

I had the pumpkin pancake with chicken sausage and eggs. I was nervous that the chicken sausage wouldn't be as good as pork but it didn't disappoint. It was great! The eggs I got were a little small. More like 1.5 eggs than 2. But overall the dish was terrific

Y'all, why has it been so long since I've eaten here? I've been wanting fried chicken (yeah, I…read morecould cook it, but so much work), and then my daughter made herself a waffle the other night...........so I HAD to go. We got there around noon, and it was popping. I mean, it's a Wednesday and very busy, but no wait. We each got the chicken and waffles. My daughter had asked if they would give her regular butter, since she's not a fan of strawberries.............but she enjoyed the strawberry butter very much. I'm sure we could have split it, but nope, we each got it. Half a chicken, cut into the individual pieces, and that huge, fluffy, flavorful waffle with that nice scoop of strawberry butter. We brought our limited leftovers home, yes, we mostly ate our food. For a place with a pretty extensive, but not huge, menu, it is good. The chicken and waffles though are awesome. Our server was Jonny, and he was fast, efficient and pleasant. We hope to visit again soon, very soon.

The Metro Diner is always busy, so I did expect a little bit of a wait. I was told 20-25 minutes…read moreand waited that long outside. Then, I moved inside to see what the delay was, and the host tried to seat me at the counter. Really? I'd been waiting 30 minutes, and you won't seat me at the empty table. So I declined and said I'd wait for my table. I never got a notice on my phone either, so what was the point of that system if you need to be inside the small waiting area to be called? I could see the open table, but I was not seated for another ten minutes. They didn't want me at the big table. Then it was interesting to watch all the staff walk by and ask who had my table. How do they not know which tables each person has? Someone eventually came by, asked if I'd been helped, and took my drink and food orders, since I'd been waiting quite a while. I ordered a half-and-half tea. I'm not sure she knew what that was, as she kept saying "unsweet". The first tea was half-and-half, but the refill was unsweetened. I went with the chicken pot pie, as that is what caught my eye. I expected a delicious dish, but what I received was disappointing. The ratio of the chicken, gravy and veggies was way off. I'd say there was enough low-quality processed chicken for three to four people, a little gravy and even less veggies. I had a bowl of processed chicken cubes with a splash of sauce, not what I had in mind. I usually skip the pastry part, but I ate that as I needed something other than chicken. I left some of the chicken in the dish. The waitress didn't even offer me a to-go box. It was that bad that I wouldn't eat it anyway. My check was brought out soon after I got my food. I don't understand the rush, but bringing the check early won't get me out any faster and lowers your tip. This was just a really bad experience, and I don't see myself returning. I have liked the food in the past.

On a nicer day you can sit outside if you prefer. My daughter ordered the waffle with Nutella, and since she wanted syrup, we added the cinnamon glaze. She really enjoyed it. I do wish they had whipped cream as an option because I feel like waffles and whipped cream just go together, but that's honestly a small thing. I ordered the avocado toast with the fried egg on top and also the house-made granola. I did not realize the granola serving was going to be so big, so I definitely over-ordered, but no regrets because everything was so good. The avocado toast was delicious. The bread was soft, fresh, and filling, and the whole thing was just really satisfying. I ended up taking the granola to go, and later that day when I ate it, I was like wow... it was still amazing. Honestly one of the best granola and yogurt bowls I've had. So good. I also got an almond latte. Nothing overly fancy, just a solid latte done well. Staff were friendly and patient, especially with my daughter wanting to order. That always means a lot. Another plus: plenty of parking, and they have two single-stall bathrooms, which is helpful. I also really like the Lafayette Village area in general. After you eat, you can walk around, hang out, and enjoy the area a bit. So it can be a quick coffee stop, or you can make a little outing out of it. Definitely worth checking out.

They are located in a VERY BUSY shopping center. Lots of folks sticking around to hang outdoors in the area. Thankfully I found parking in the lot downstairs in a parking garage with a short walk over. The line was long but moved fast. It was cold and sorta dark inside and crowded compared to it being nice outside, so I chose to sit outside. The courtyard side was packed, so I sat on the parking lot side. Not the best view, but got the job done. They were still serving biscuits, but were no longer serving the oatmeal which was a disappointment. I got the yogurt instead and didn't care for the toppings. My coffee and food came out fast and the biscuit tasted amazing. The biscuit was large, the egg and bacon were perfectly cooked and the iced coffee was delicious. The food is the shining star here. I just wish the ambiance was better. I will be back on a weekday when it's less people to contend with.

She made sure our food was remade and even refunded both of our meals after they came out cold and were not good. Analise, our server, also did a great job and did the best she could with the situation. The issues we had were clearly on the kitchen side, not them. For food, I ordered the Baja Turkey Burger with house potatoes and a mimosa, and my meal was actually good. My mom and brother both ordered the Trifecta, but both meals had to be sent back because they were cold, and the turkey sausage did not look appealing at all (they had run out of regular sausage that day). My brother ended up getting the BLTE with tomato soup, which he enjoyed. My mom switched to the same Baja Turkey Burger I had but with tomato soup on the side. The biggest problem overall was the kitchen consistency. My mom's turkey burger was only halfway cooked, and both original meals came out cold, which was disappointing. Another issue was the environment that day, it was extremely hot inside, especially with the heavy crowd, because the A/C wasn't working. I really hope they got that fixed in time for the hotter weather because it made dining uncomfortable. One thing to be aware of: they offer coffee, but don't really mention that it's an extra $4 charge, so just keep that in mind. The service and management were great, the food consistency and environment missed the mark during this visit. I honestly think going to the Capital Boulevard location may have been the better option.

If I was there for just the food, no problem but I didn't receive customer service here. I came in because I had a bday buffet BOGO coupon. For first timers, don't expect them to help tell you where to go because they won't. I was standing in the to go line because there was absolutely no clear signage or people there to say which was for to go and which was for dine in, after a couple minutes she said next and waived us over.. she didn't say hey, nothing . No thank you, come again, literally said nothing besides the total of the buffets. After getting the plate, realized no forks, turns out they were at the front where they should've been given to us. Just terrible service. Finally our waitress Maria came, not much interaction from her at all... nice big area and choices to sit but like I said unless you plan to just eat and not care about service, I would never spend full price on the buffet because it's not worth it but the food is average, everything was hot and desserts were good, salads were fresh.
