Arrive at the shop and walk in, there is a whiteboard when you enter for you to sign in on, and if you have a preferred barber/stylist you can put there name next to yours. Previously I had only been to places that work on the honor system, but this is a nice change. Watching the 4 barbers working as I waited for my turn they all looked professional in appearance and their conversations with their customers about how they want their haircut. My turn came and my barber was Devin. Asked me questions about what I wanted, and followed through. Cleaned up my goatee and eyebrows and I was just extremely y happy and will be back. The Deets: In the past when on the annual trip to OIB, I've gone as far as Calabash to go to a barber shop. This year, I noticed Buzzed And Clipped Haircuts (BACH) when going along Beach Drive this year. I headed over to check these guys out over at Cornerstone Plaza. This cozy little barber shop is clean and new looking with a fair amount of seating inside as well as an outside bench. They do appointments and walk-ins during the week (Saturdays walk-ins only per website). There were a few in front of me, but the two barbers/stylists on duty were making good progress. This point is where they earn that fifth star from me...one of the barbers/stylists had come in on her day off, noticed a good number of customers waiting and actually took in one of the waiting customers (me, actually) to help her colleagues catch up on the day. Nice customer service moment. My head shave and beard trim were done very well, I liked the results and my barber/stylist was very personable, positive, and detail oriented as well as a great conversationalist. I am going to keep BACH on my list when needing a barber shop in the OIB area, what a great find and addition here.

This is like the biker bar of barbershops. The inside decor has all the best American redneck appeal (not that that's a bad thing) and looks like it could have been a restaurant at one point. There's a waiting area, but everyone who came in just waited at these circular dining tables in the middle. It's a big place, but no one else seemed to work there other than Rosa. Luckily, she works fast and I was the first one in line. Actually, the sign on the door said they open at 9... online it said 10... she got there around 10:15. Definitely on island time, so beware. Overall, Rosa was really nice and chatty and did a great job giving me a high-and-tight. This atmosphere definitely won't be for everyone, but if you're from the country and/or have been in the military (both of which apply to me) it won't be all that unfamiliar even if it's way out of the norm I've come to expect living up in northern Virginia.
