I saw this when I pulled up places to eat near me when in Rochester. The picture posted of the onion rings did it to get me in the door. I was greeted right away by the owner. I went up to the counter and said I wanted onion rings and then ordered the beef cheesesteak with just mushrooms and he suggested cheddar cheese instead of provolone as it had more flavor. I paid and went to get napkins. The owner asked what brought me in and I told him a picture of the onion rings on Yelp. I sat down and the young man brought me the cheesesteak. Fantastic location. Loved the owner who put his blood sweat and tears into the business. It is a pillar of the community right across from Mayo clinic. An excellent layout inside. Stopped by on our route back home. A tasty treat! Got the Monday chicken sandwich special and great onion rings! The onion rings were freshly made and delicious and plentiful. Also got a half Philly cheese stake. The server/cook/ hostess couldn't have been nicer explaining how things were made fresh and the menus choices. A great family business. OMG! They need a warning sign on the front door. It should read "the food in this establishment will have your mouth watering" The food was awesome. I mean from the Big Jo wings which are full chicken wings that are so big I could only eat 3 of the six pieces. So good, nice and hot. To the fresh onion rings that are to die for. Just posting an update from my original review, even though it's still 5 stars, because we've now ordered even more off the menu, dined in, carried out, and had delivery. Exceptional! The Phillies are always good. You can customize your toppings and get many different sizes and make it exactly how you'd want it. Their burgers are fantastic. The chicken sandwiches - we had both the southerner and the spicy chicken and they are quite possibly the best fried chicken sandwiches in town. The spicy sandwich is spicier than what you'll get at fast casual places, but not so spicy that it would exclude anyone who wants to order spicy. Eat in: very consistent and uplifting vibe, from a family that's very proud of themselves, where they've come from, and who they are. Delivery: they deliver their food themselves! They don't use a third party company like DoorDash - it is their own employees in their own Jersey Jo car Take out: still fast and fresh, the quality isn't less for taking it to go Lots of good deals. Probably not going back anytime soon. I had heard good things regarding the restaurant and decided to take a friend there for lunch. We arrived at around 11:30 and the place was half full already. You get to place your own order on a kiosk and pay right away. Small tables and not cleaned, my friend ordered chips with their meal and the kiosk showed a huge selection. Unfortunately there were only two bags left to choose from, puff Cheetos and a weird flavor of Doritos. I asked if there were any additional and just got a cold response so I asked if I could order fries instead , again didn't seem real crazy about changing the order. Needless to say 2-12" Steak sandwiches, 2 small fries and 2 fountain drinks all for $65 with a tip. If you are going to be at a fair or event, a good business owner would make sure you don't run out of ingredients at noon on a Saturday, the busiest time and day. Especially when your trailer is literally a football field away from a major grocery store. And then get rude to the customer when it gets mentioned. Ordered the Wednesday Special ($22 for 2x 12 inch Cheesesteaks). Added grilled mushrooms, onions, and giardiniera (Italian Hot Peppers) for a $1. Not sure what qualifies as "traditional" Philly cheesesteak toppings, but they made the sandwich even better IMO. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich and I would probably go back if I'm in the area again. Visiting Rochester and needed a good place to eat. The cheesesteak was juicy and delicious. I couldn't top the onion rings with the BOOM sauce to dip and enjoy. Enjoyed it so much bought their Big Joe wings to go and they hit the spot with their delectable sauces (Gump. sweet bourbon, Honey Chili) they were so good it's hard to choose just one. But if your not a salt person, ask them to go light. For me, I love when you can taste a good amount of salt. I thought the 6in was perfect but was so sad when it ended hahaha. They do delivery but based on their website may have had some quality issues (Nobody does good take-out except Pizza places). The portions are fair for the price. Good selection of toppings. Hands down one of the best cheesesteaks that I've had in the Midwest. The store was very clean. It was filled with photos and other memorabilia from Jersey & Philadelphia. The worker (I'm assuming also the owner) asked me if it was my 1st time eating there, to which I replied yes. My cheesesteak had provolone cheese. I also ordered it with spicy peppers for an up-charge. The bread was the perfect consistency. The fries had a nice seasoning. The worker was the sole person working. He did a wonderful job of cooking, working the register, and making sure the restaurant stayed tidy. He even made time to stop by my table to ask me how my food was. We got all the toppings (bell pepper, mushroom, lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana pepper and mayo )on it with provolone in his and cheddar on mine. We both loved our sandwiches and inhaled it right away. It is arguable the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich we both have had. This sandwich is a must! It is expensive ( 14$ for his and 9$ for mine) but it is also a lot of food. They had our order ready to go within 10 minutes and the staff was friendly and courteous. So, so good! Best cheesesteaks my husband and I have ever had. I had the hot peppers on mine and they gave it a wonderful kick. We both had the Philly-Fries too, fries topped with cheese and cheesesteak meat. They were so good too. The meat had a great flavor compared to the lack of flavor I usually note in the cheesesteaks I've had in the last. I read the story they have framed of how the restaurant started and it was inspiring. When we visited Jo was working as was his wife and two teenage kids. Service was amazing, we were made to feel welcome and the menu options were explained to us when we said it was our first time there. Located very close to all of the Mayo facilities; we plan on visiting again on our next trip to the area. My husband and I went to Jersey Joe's this past weekend while we were in town house hunting. I'm so glad we did! While we were initially planning to order for take out, Jo convinced us to stay so we could experience the food as it's meant to be experienced. Well worth it! After a short wait, Jo's sons presented us with two heaping plates of seasoned fries and the most aromatic and savory Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. We were so impressed that two teenagers were not only able to prepare such an amazing meal, but that they exhibited such a high level of professionalism. No pictures of the food, but that is because we spent the next several minutes in total silence as we devoured the deliciousness. I had leftovers, which I reheated several hours later and...still tasty! To those who are displeased with the prices, please remember you are paying a couple bucks extra for higher quality and larger portions. And even better, you are supporting a local, family owned and operated business. Win win! To those displeased with their delivery orders, keep in mind that the quality of the food will understandably change when being stored and driven across Rochester.
