Tried out Hollandberry Pannekoeken on a Sunday around 1 PM. The restaurant was packed, but the wait wasn't bad at all, about 20 minutes. Definitely a brunch spot that many people visit morning/lunchtime. We ordered the Hollandberry Burger and swapped the fries for onion rings (+$2), and also got the Bacon Smoked Gouda Burger with regular fries. Both burgers were ordered medium rare, but the Smoked Gouda Burger came out closer to medium/well done, making it a bit dry. The service was a letdown. Water is served in small mason jars, and ours was never refilled until we requested water after being there for an hour. We also requested sauce. Both never arrived until our table asked for it a second time which took about 10 minutes later to get to us. To top it off, we were handed to go boxes while we were still eating. We realized a table nearby asked for boxes and had been waiting for it to leave. The experience felt a little disorganized. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd probably skip the burgers and try one of the pannekoeken instead if I'm feeling something sweet, since that's what Hollandberry is really known for. read more

For starter our server Tricia F. was spectacular. She promptly greeted us and got us menus. She grab waters for us and a drink order after that and upon returning with the drinks was helpful with the food order questions we had. I'm knocking it down some because for a o.k. breakfast it was pretty expensive. Our 2 coffees, an omelet, and a pannekoeken with a 3 slice side of bacon was $55 after tax and pre-tip. We just didn't feel the value was there for something we could easily make at home. We found this cozy little spot just a few blocks from the hotel while we were in town visiting the Mayo Clinic. The front store dressing stands out, and smells amazing, even from the parking lot. We walked in during the early afternoon and got seated right away. The server brought us drinks right out and gave us just enough time to peruse the menu. Though, the menu is quite large, so it might take longer if you're looking at anything but their namesake, the pannekoekens. I ordered the banana pannekoeken, as is never had one before. If you love dessert-y breakfasts, these are a must try. They're not overly sweet, but certainly hit my sweet tooth. They're easy to cut and feel so soft in your mouth. Was at the Rochester location last night.Husband had the salmon delight it was ok I ordered the dutch pot pie with turkey it was horrible very dry and not much inside as for as vegetables the turkey amount was decent but not so good .The top they brown after the mash potatoes was on top with cheese which tasted burnt .The salad was good had spring lettuce and spinach which was different then most places. We've been there before for breakfast and lunch just saying its definitely hit or miss by what you order .Almost forgot ordered ice tea and it tasted like instant not what most restaurants serve. The only Pannekoeken in Mpls (SLP) closed last year. My friend was craving her go to Pannekoeken breakfast that she convinced me to take a roadtrip with her just to check out this location. We arrived maybe 2.5 hrs to closing time, they were out of pretty much all the bake goods. I ordered the banana foster pannekoeken and always love when they sing "pannekoeken" as they bring it out the kitchen. The Pannekoeken was a bit different than the one I was used too, personally didn't enjoy it as much here. My friend said the same about her breakfast but she does often bring up taking the trip back to give it another try. I ordered a specialty coffee and there must have been miscommunication because another wait staff came over with the drink but the 2nd drink (which they took back after realizing) was better garnished and looking overall. So a bit of inconsistency there. It's a cute restaurant, probably gets busy daily but worth checking out. Would definitely go back to check out other Pannekoekens. read more

Stopped in around 9 on a Wednesday for breakfast. This is downtown and has a dedicated parking lot with plenty of space. The restaurant was busy but we were seated within 2 minutes of arriving. The coffee was good, we ordered fried eggs over medium with sausage and the eggs were over cooked and served cold. Toast was "good bread", service was decent but not above average as we had to request water refills. Would stop in again to try the house specialty. read more

I spotted this place as I was about to head back to the cities. Wait time wasn't too bad. But having April, the slowest waitress was. I saw every one but her and they were all over. This has the atmosphere of a soup kitchen including the lighting but mostly the wide open space. No one cares though they just want the fix. Like Deja said nothing in the TC anymore. When I called over the manager to get my order, the people sitting next to me got theirs and were almost done, and I am a party of one and was there before them. I finally enjoyed my bacon pannekoeken. Leftovers reheat well. I got a fresh squeezed OJ that was very good. The coffee was strange, it seemed hot in the pot, yet add milk and it gets below lukewarm, not so with others. I would definitely go again, mostly for the parking lot. First of all, let me tell you guys how surprised I was to find out that I almost lived my whole life never trying something that is probably now one of my top 5 favorite deserts! And even more surprising is the fact that I discovered it on a random medical trip to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. I can't spell Pannekoeken if my life depended on it, I literally have to see the correct spelling next to me to repeat it, but this is so delicious it's insane. It's everything that a pancake or a crepe wish they were. This is a danish pancake, and the Danes really did it right! After having this, you're never going to wanna go back to eating American pancakes. No I'm not exaggerating, I've never had a pancake in my life that beats this or even comes close. I tried some of their other food but honestly the Pannekoeken is what you need to try. The rum sauce and the real maple Syrup are really yummy too. We enjoyed the apple one the most. Loved our experience at this restaurant! Walked through the door to be greeted with pastries + the scent of coffee. Walked further to be greeted with a server with a smiling face. All of our food was so tasty! A couple of kids meals were ordered. Grilled cheese and pancake meals were enjoyed from the kids. The adults had a delicious omelette (can't go wrong with any combination of flavors they offer) as well as a soup/ sandwich combo that hit the spot. What a great family meal enjoyed here. Food was great for brunch. Definitely interested in trying the pannekoekens and muffins next time. My group got different dishes and I was recommended the Dutch skillet which I enjoyed with the balance of sausage, veggies, hashbrown, eggs, and side of fruit!It was a bit pricey but given that it was for brunch I think it was worth it and very filling. I wish the fruit included some more berries and it was unfortunate that some of their muffins were out. Service was very busy especially on the weekend we went and we had to wait quite a while. It was unfortunate because after waiting for a half hour our food also took another half hour to get out and one of my friends had to go and wasn't able to get their takeout in time. I love that you can customize it a bunch of different ways but it still keeps the same solid base -- eggs, potatoes, meat, veggies, cheese, all cooked just right. Definitely one of the better breakfast skillets I've had. I also ordered the Apple Pecan Pannekoeken, and it was amazing. Tons of flavor, really generous portion, and the thick syrup they serve with it is rich and delicious. The apples were warm and soft, the pecans added a great crunch -- it's basically dessert for breakfast in the best way possible. We finally got to visit Hollandberry on our recent visit to Rochester. We were pleasantly surprised to find the muffin bakery spread upon entry and so enjoyed the one we tried I came back another day to get 5!! An impressive assortment of flavors. Our breakfast was wholesome and the Benedict sauce wasn't the best I've had but satisfying enough. We enjoyed trying their version of Dutch babies (as we call them) and for sure would come back again for these specialties. Service was friendly and attentive. Stopped by on a recent visit to MN, timed it out to get there after 9AM midweek (thinking it might be a bit slower). Parking was still a bit of a headache, as the lot isn't very big, and they share it with other businesses. When I arrived, there were about 10 people in the waiting area, and a number of empty tables inside. i asked if I could sit in the breakfast bar area (there was only 1 person sitting there). Took about 10-15 minutes to get seated - little frustrating with the open tables - but when I sat, I understood. Their kitchen is pretty small, and they were mover a fair amount of food as fast as they could - so if they had sat everyone as they came in, the kitchen would have been overwhelmed. My order was the Rum Raisin Pannekoeken. it came out still puffed up, and I waited a bit for it to deflate and cool down - but it wasn't enough! Those raisins held the heat for quite some time! Very good flavor, I do like rum, and I think the sauce has rum notes, but not a strong rum flavor. I just visited this restaurant on a little weekend getaway and I can't emphasize more than my words can permit me to. Firstly, the workers! Up and down the list are very hardworking. And I mean everyone is moving and working. I barely saw one person standing still. You pick up the plates or did something when you saw the need. You can see the coordination and zeal to work. Hats off to the wait staff. They run back and forth to a table for each time someone orders a Pannekoeken. So if there are 5 at a table, five time to the table by wait staff announcing "pannekoeken" to the world around them. That being said, 11am on a Friday morning and I got the last of the 75 tables. The place is crowded. I thought a good sign. It took 30 mns to be asked if I wanted to order and another 37 mns for food to arrive. I ordered two eggs and a regular pancake. Food came cold and quite honestly if I wasn't so worn out from hearing "Pannekoeken" almost every minute, I would have tossed the bill at the waiter. I tipped big, amused at the total lack of efficiency and the amount of work each wait staff had to perform. I left the restaurant never to return. I did note that during my search for a breakfast place, no others came up except a diner that shut down years ago. This might be my favorite breakfast spot in town. Great coffee, service and of course the homemade muffins.

The ambiance is great. The servers are energetic, friendly and helpful. The food taste great. The closest I can explain a pannekoeken is a Dutch baby pancake. The pumpkin had a pumpkin purée and whipped cream. The orange juice was definitely fresh. The sausage was good. The eggs were cooked as I wanted. It's hard to get a mixed breakfast when eating alone. This is a great place to order many options for the table and share. I would love some combos that allowed me to try more without ordering whole items. The overall cost came out to $25-30, which is a bit pricey for a brunch for one. They do have a lot of tables so I wait for about 20mins to be seated and then another 20mins for my food, but the food came hot and fresh. And they were definitely a well oiled machine. read more
