This is the place I go for a cut. Elvin is my barber. Great guy, friendly, professional & personable. Place is always clean. There are tv's to entertain us customers. We have been clients pretty much since first week they opened this location. We live right around the corner and always look to support locally first. We always book two cuts back to back. Yesterday, our usual had no openings so we went with Luis at 6:30 and 7:15. I don't want Luis to feel too bad about things because he is a newer barber and he did a nice job. Unfortunately, he took me a little late (maybe 6:45) which is fine but he didn't finish my cut until about 8:10. As it was approaching 8pm, I asked if he would have time to do the second appointment as well. He had no idea there was another appointment booked together. He said he's new and they didn't really train him on the system and he didn't see it. Totally understandable and he was very nice. He offered to stay late and do the other appointment but we really didn't have the time to stay until 9pm or later. I asked if instead he could refund me for the second appointment and we'd reschedule in the future. He again couldn't access the system which was fine, but he offered to leave a note and have the manager call me the next day. No problem. Nobody called me this morning so at about 11:30, I called in. After navigating the terrible automated answering system, I reached "somebody". I explained the situation and they seemed to know exactly what I was talking about (which tells me Luis did what he promised). I was told "that's not really how that works. You pay for the time in the chair and it's irrelevant how long the appointment takes, he offered to cut your hair and you decided not to. There's a 2 hour cancellation policy." I asked if I was speaking with the owner or manager, the person refused to identify themselves, told me they were busy with another client and said "if you want I'll refund you this time but in the future you have to cancel 2 hours ahead of time." I asked if there was a policy on an acceptable about of time to wait after the appointment time. They told me "I'm not going back and forth with you, I'm busy. You got your refund what else do you want? If you want to speak more about come down here and talk face to face." I asked who it was I should ask for when I come in and they said the front desk will know. I'm kind of saddened by the whole thing honestly. If there was even an ounce of professionalism or customer service mentality, we would have rescheduled and stayed as clients. I'm not sure how somebody would know at 4:30 that they wouldn't be able to get a haircut until 8:30. I don't know why the guy I talked to chose to be confrontational and act like we did something wrong. I do know, a barbers time is important. They deserve every dollar they get because it's a hard job especially starting out trying to build a clientele. Which is why we pay and tip ahead of time and then slip an extra $5 in cash after the cut as well. I appreciate Luis, and Erika because they have been nothing but nice to us. But a client's time is important too. If a mistake is made by the barber and it results in us not being able to sit for the cut, then it shouldn't be a guilt trip and a veiled threat of violence in order for us to get a refund. Went there for awhile. Then noticed that they never seemed to honor the appointment time. It would be at least a 15-20 minute wait. Erika would be chatting with another customer while I was sitting there wasting my time. Today I went there and she did the same thing. I got up to leave and she tried to have another cutter sub in. The guy looked like he was 16. I'm out. Don't bother to make an appointment. They won't honor it. They also play loud, head-banger music, which I hate. I go to relax, not have loud music blasting. Jersey's Finest is the best for barbers, haircuts & the Randolph location is great!!! Very nice staff, inside & convenient. Same day appointments. I highly recommend Brook because he is talented! While the haircut and eyebrow trim were nice, the reality is that I am bald and have little hair around my head and neck that requires maintenance. Regardless, of the aforementioned, I was charged $40 for a haircut which I found to be excessive for what should've been a $20-10 minute sit down and cut experience. That said, the barber/stylist was friendly and provided a good service; However, I won't be going back. read more
