The good news is, you can't get lupus from going to Lupus. But you can get some really good…read moredown-home music and friendly vibes from the music playing in the general store. I have only been there once, but sometimes you know it when you see it. And this place is a unique gem. Maybe it's not what you'd call "remodeled" or "passes city codes", but it has withstood the test of time good enough for me, and it seem to have an the kind of unpretentiousness where people there don't use big words or anything. My point is, it's not a place that is summed up in a yelp review very well. You sort of have to go there to see it. Some history of Lupus. In 1993 there was like a 100 or 200 year flood, and the town was under 3 feet of water. They got some FEMA money to raise all the houses up like 10 feet. Literally. So you know you're in the right town when you see houses on stilts. Getting to Lupus is quite a drive, but I would say it's a good destination trip. The general store is the second to last building on the left as you head down main street towards the river. If you get to the railroad crossing, you've gone too far. The last building on the right is the city hall. The town has about 40 people in it. Cover is $7 donation, and there is usually a jam afterwards, so bring you instrument if you so desire. Oh yea, the store is also an antique place, and so if you need a player piano, or a kerosine lamp, this is the place for you. Also, this place gets a spot on my best bathrooms list. Enough said. While visiting CoMo we were looking for a spot for dinner and something to do on a Thursday night…read more I was excited when my friend shared that Dive bar did free Bingo on Thursday nights. I honestly hadn't played bingo since grade school but was instantly onboard! We started the night outside on their spacious patio and made sure to move inside at least 10 minutes before bingo started at 7pm. By the time the games started there wasn't an empty spot in the house. There were multiple rounds over two hours and each game provided a chance to win prizes. The food was great we each got a sandwich and swapped halves. We got the 5th ward and a spicy pulled chicken sandwich both were delicious. We upgraded our side to the dive salad which was phenomenal and I would go back just for that salad! The service was also phenomenal there was one waitress for a packed house and she made it seem like we were the only tables she had. She made her job look easy for a packed restaurant. I can't wait for my next visit to CoMo so I can go back to Dive bar!

Deeply disappointing and concerning dining experience! I rarely leave negative reviews, but my…read morerecent visit to this restaurant was so troubling that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment I walked in, the service was indifferent at best. It took nearly twenty minutes just to get someone's attention, and when a server finally approached, they seemed annoyed that I had questions about the menu. Throughout the meal, dishes were dropped off without a word, drinks went unrefilled, and no one checked in to see if anything was okay. Unfortunately, the food itself was even worse. My entrée arrived lukewarm and clearly undercooked in the center, despite being a dish that should have been served piping hot. Another plate at the table was missing key ingredients entirely, as if it had been rushed out without any care. The flavors were flat, the textures were off, and nothing tasted fresh. The real issue, though, came later. Within a few hours of eating there, I became noticeably sick--nausea, stomach cramps, the whole ordeal. I can't say with certainty what caused it, but given the state of the food, it wasn't surprising. What truly alarmed me were the visible health hazards. I noticed a sticky spill on the floor that no one bothered to clean up, even as staff stepped around it repeatedly. I unfortunately had to use the restroom while we were there. The restroom sink had grime built up around the faucet, a dead cockroach near the commode, and there was no soap or toilet paper. As we were leaving, I could see uncovered food containers sitting out behind the bar. These are the kinds of things that make you question what's happening behind the scenes. Overall, this was one of the most unsettling dining experiences I've had in a long time. Between the poor service, improperly prepared food, and concerning cleanliness issues. Now here's the kicker...there was not a manager available (shocker), so I asked for the owner's contact information so I could report the health violations and food safety issues. The waitress laughed and said "We've told him many times - he doesn't care and he doesn't allow us to give out his number. He wouldn't answer the phone and absolutely would not call you back." So, if you'd like to eat at an establishment where the owner clearly doesn't care about you or what you think, cleanliness, or food safety, you've found the perfect place.
