After a lot of research into private schools in Solano County 7 years ago, we landed on this one,…read moreand haven't looked back. Our kids actually get sad when they have to miss school for whatever reason. They love their teachers, and the teachers clearly care about their students. They could be teaching for teachers' unions in public schools, earning more money, but they choose our school because they care intensely about our kids and our families holistically: Intellectually, emotionally, physically, spiritually. I've trusted all my many kids with many normal kid-play injuries over MANY years to the wonderful women in the office, both the office manager and office assistant. They call me right away, disclose all the details of the injury, tell me how they treated them (with a lot of medical experience, I assure you they do everything I would have EVERY time), offer to talk to my child and of course allow me to pick them up if I ever deem it necessary. The teachers and administration answer every email and Class Dojo message I've ever sent, no matter how small the topic, within a very short time. Whenever I've approached the principal with a question or concern, she welcomes it with humility and openness, and actually makes changes worth making (this is notably not the case with many school principals). She surrounds herself with committees to make sure she's not missing anything. Between our excellent principal, our wonderful office manager, and our warm office assistant, the ambience in the office is pleasant and welcoming. As a parent, I don't want to leave when I stop in! The school community has really wonderful families we've befriended over the years or worked with on school volunteer opportunities. But for us, the most important aspect is the faith aspect. Our kids get to learn about the Catholic Faith through a beautiful and formational religion program; and they get to see it reflected in the faculty and administration in various ways, through their unique gifts, virtues, and sacrifices. My own faith has been enriched just through getting to know them and seeing their own, personal love of God.

I attended a lot of events at…read morethis school growing up since my cousins went to school here and this was my home church. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed to say that the experience I had wasn't that great. First, when I met with the principal she let me know there was a "waiting list" then later speaking with the secretary she said there was no one on the wait list they just say that. During our visit my son was taken back to a room for an assessment where I wasn't present. I sat in the office area. During the assessment, the teacher asked my son questions like "do you get in trouble at school" and "do you talk a lot in class" and things around his behavior. When prior, during the tour, I was asking the principal questions around safety and what that looked like. I even shared certain challenges like talking in class. The following day, the principal called me to let me know that my son could do a "trial" with the school and see how he does in a month. This, I've never heard of and how is that even possible! It sounded like they were being selective and wanted to see how he would behave before fully accepting him into the school. Just by this, I decided this school wasn't the best fit for him. This school lacks diversity, acceptance of all people and judge. The 2 stars are for adding a park that the school didn't have, kudos for the secretaries kindness and her transparency that the principal hid. My son is thriving at his current school and an A/B student.

Vallejo High School staff ROCKS!!!! I was recently the victim of cell phone theft :( However,…read morethanks to technology, and the amazing diligence of my husband, we were able to track the phone to Vallejo High School. We contacted Principal Clarence Isadore who immediately went into action. He and his amazing team tracked down the young person who we suspected had taken my phone, and retrieved it. this all took place within a 30 minute time frame. In fact, Principal Isadore told my husband and I to "get him some donuts and milk" and he would have my phone by the time we got back (did I mention that he is also hilarious?). We quickly and gratefully ran to the donuts shop, filled the order, and got back in time for Mr. Isadore to hand me the phone. I was amazed!!! Not only did he know exactly which student we were talking about by name, but he and his staff were able to call the student out of class, address the situation directly with this individual, and get my phone without incident. In addition to all this, the campus was clean, quiet ,and orderly with Principal Isadore watching over each student that walked his campus. I have two adult children that attended Vallejo High a few years ago, and it was so bad that I had to pull my daughter out in her junior year because of the constant violence, blatant sexual activity, and police presence on campus. What I saw today was a very different school from the one that I once knew. It was very refreshing to see the campus being maintained and monitored by someone who truly cares about the students, the school, and the city of Vallejo. Great job Principal Isadore. Thank you for all that you and your staff do for our kids and our city. And, a very sincere and grateful thank you for getting back my phone. You are a hero to us all.

Hands down- ACHS is an awesomely beautiful campus…read more.. I recall "open house," when the community was able to tour the school before classes began this past August, and I compared it to a college campus. It's equipped with EVERYTHING- including a culinary arts kitchen adjacent to the cafeteria, a huge theater and gym, beautiful sports fields and even community college classrooms in the main building. It's also a super "green" school, and apparently it's paving the way for future schools to be energy efficient as well... The problem with a bright, new school is, of course, working out the kinks. While it appears that most teachers came from schools in the neighboring vicinities for the most part, that could be both a gift and curse depending on the reputation of your child and you child's chance at a "fresh start". My husband would also say, the football team could use a more diverse staff (but the volunteering moms are AWESOME! GO WOLVES!!!). My above-average 9th grader is doing great because he's a good student and newspaper-worthy athlete, so he had a good reputation and good rapport with the middle school teachers that moved on to ACHS. It also helps that the school only has 10th and 1th graders to start, so the Freshman didn't get that underclassmen welcome from the seniors. My IEP student, 7th grader???? Now, 2012 will be interesting if the world doesn't end... I am dreading an inevitable battle with administration. AND, the school has "combined classrooms" with 2 teachers and more than 60 students. If you're an "A" student, this may not matter so much, but some kids will definitely get lost in the shuffle. : / So, all in all (as my 3rd grader would write) the school is absolutely beautiful and locally staffed with a "down home" feel tucked away in the Bay's shadow, but your child's experience will probably be unique to their needs, as with any school. TIPS: Always use the entrance on the opposite side of American Canyon Rd. because you can exit both directions. The light at American Canyon Rd. also gets REALLY crowded, so avoid it if possible. A new bus route was added specifically for students and the fare is 50 cents each ride. Oh, and GO WOLVES... and GIANTS!!
