Going through the museum I was overwhelmed by the history our nation has experienced in the past century and this century. Part of me wanted to read every display and look at every detail. Time was brief though. This was my second visit to this museum. There are three different areas in this museum: The military police, chemical, and engineer museum. There are three gift stores inside, and they were full of items I could not get outside of the base in most stores except online. I got post cards of the crossing pistols, a giant hoodie jacket, and tee with the crossing pistols.

I think I had forgot just how many different holes and paths you could take. They've also added more stuff than I remember. They had a section roped off because they're adding yet another section. I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the place as much this time around but I did. This is a must-visit when in StL but be warned, you will be tired after playing on this adult playground. The only annoyance this time is that I seem to remember that you could pay one price and get everything. This time, there was the general ticket that gives you access to 3 floors but no roof access. No pinball access. You have to pay extra for those two things. I guess extra charges make sense but just wrap the price all in one. I feel like the floors and roof should be in one ticket. There were a few times that employees came out on the roof to run people off that didn't have the appropriate color of bracelet. If you love having fun, definitely do this when visiting StL.

Definitely whenever someone mentions St Louis or anything that I associate with St Louis. It's my favorite place in the world. I think another reviewer recommended wearing closed toe-shoes, comfortable clothing that you can move in - preferably long pants - as long as they have good pockets, because you don't want to be carrying a purse or bag. This is important. If you have a fear of heights - the City Museum might make you forget that you have a fear of heights. Because it made me forget that I do. I was climbing everywhere. It's amazing. I know how to weld, and all the welds look great and are finished smoothly so you don't get scratched or snagged. Impressive! We went there once when our daughter was 6, and again when she was 21, and I can definitely say that I had a better time when she was older (even though, obviously, I was significantly older as well). Because it does seem a little not-safe if you have a little kid with you. But even then I had absolutely loved it. I live 8 hours away but would literally clear my schedule for the next couple days, anytime, if someone wanted me to go there with them. Just let me grab my sneakers and joggers and I'm ready!

If you like bourbons or whiskey, I'd highly recommend their Cream Sherry - it won 12th best American wine at the Decanter Wold Wine Competition (The world's largest and most influential wine competition) in recent years (just enjoy slowly - it's 19%!!). Also, they make their wines very affordable! From $11-$40, everything is in reach! (They do have a $75 reserve Norton on the list as of May 2026.) You can enjoy the restaurant on site, shop alllll the wine accessories, relax on their patio above the hills of vines, play a game of corn hole, and pose for a few photos. They've been continuously farming (taking a break from wine only during prohibition) for 179 years! You won't regret a visit if you enjoy wine!

Several other couples who arrived around the same time were welcomed immediately, but we were left standing there without any acknowledgment. It was uncomfortable and made us feel overlooked in a way no quest should experience. I can't say why we were treated differently, but the contrast was hard to ignore. Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

Our guide was very experienced and took us back to the 1800s, showing how people lived, businesses they started, important events, and how the city became what it is today. They also sell multiple styles of Springerle Molds! I got one which had a cat on it and I love it! Definitely worth doing this tour if you're in Hermann for a few hours or a day.

Our tour guide was the same young man who served as our guide a day eariler at the Daniel Boone home and historic site. He is a recent graduate with a degree in history and again gave a wonderful, informative tour. The Deutschheim State Historic Site includes two historic homes that are part of the tour -- the Pommer-Gentner House (1840) and the Strehly House and Winery (1842). Derek started our tour in the garden behind the visitor's center and then moved into the Pommer House which served as their residence and as their workshop where they manufacturered pianos and other musical instruments. After the Pommer House, we walked down the block to the Strehly House and Winery. These were originally two separate buildings that were later connected into a single building. The residental portion of the structure was well-perserved. We had a tour of the winery section and a newpaper/printing area in the basement. Derek was quite knowledgable and very informative. He seemed to be enthused about his job and tried answering any questions we posed. The Deutschheim State Historic Site was about a 75-90 minute drive from Chesterfield, MO but it was well worth the visit.

That was not quite right, but we accepted it. But when we were ready to confirm, they advised us that they were bumping up the price by 40% (so $2,800 total), plus were adding a $500 cleaning fee, none of which was on their website or mentioned in any of their prior correspondence with us. Their excise was, "Oops, we didn't get around to updating the website?" Pathetic. Then, even though we'd already been communicating for a while, they said they wouldn't honor the $2,000 price. They said we were asking for a "discount," but what we were actually asking them to do was to simply honor their original quote. Their response was that they wouldn't budge on the preposterous $800 increase by even a dollar. A visit to the facilities is enjoyable. But avoid trying to do business with them, because they have no character or integrity.
