I schlepped from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the subway for almost an hour (each way) -over an hour an hour and half on some weekends- for my sessions at Jessi but it was worth it. I wholeheartedly recommend Jessi to anyone looking for an effective and competitively priced driving school. I came to Jessi to reinstate my license after letting it lapse 23 years ago. The whole experience with Jessi Driving was professional, engaging and very personable. I had been dreading the 5-hr class, expecting it to be a long tedious and boring lecture session. But I was pleasantly surprised. The instructor, Mario, was engaging, lively and very informative. He made the class interactive, solicited student participation, and informed the class not only of New York State driving requirements, he also colorfully demonstrated how those requirements could be expected to manifest during the road test. Mario was spot on. Everything he highlighted in his 5-hour class turned up on the day of the road test. I took a package deal and got three refresher driving lessons from two of Jessi' Instructors, Mario and Alfredo. Both had different approaches but were equally knowledgeable, professional effective. Alfredo was incredibly perceptive and worked with me to overcome some person driving ticks. He was affable and conversational and quickly got me to relax behind the wheel. He made me feel confident (Thank you for that, Alfredo! Nicely done) and things went much better for me after that. Mario took me and three other students for the road test today. He was dedicated throughout the entire drive to the road test site. He used the ride to demonstrate best practice stopping and turning, and maintaining the lane on streets without proper street marking. Needless to say, all four of us aced our road tests thanks the highly motivated and professional staff at Jessi. The office staff are rather nice too. Passed road test on my first try! I had a very limited schedule and from the first moment Hector and the whole team was so helpful at accommodating my scheduling needs. I had not driven in many, many years and was looking to do the 15 lesson package but Hector said since I had driven before he thought I would probably only need to buy the 10 lesson package...and if later I decided I needed more then I could upgrade. I appreciated his honesty and genuine interest in helping me buy the package that I really needed instead of just trying to make a few extra bucks. My instructors, Alfredo and Mario, were great! They gave honest feedback and were really helpful at putting me in a variety of driving situations so that I now feel comfortable in tricky driving situations that I would have otherwise been intimidated by. When there were things I was not doing well they gave me many, many opportunities to practice those particular things so that I could improve. I felt a genuine investment from both instructors in my development as a student driver, they would remember the things that I needed work on and tailored the lessons to help me improve to the next level of driving according to the DMV rules. I now feel confident as a driver and able to see everything that is happening around me on the road in order to be the safest possible for me, my passengers and fellow drivers. I never drove before in my life but after a few lessons with Jesse Driving School I passed the driving test on my first try! Big shout out to Javier for being a great driving instructor. Prior to the lessons I had a wonderful experience signing up for the 5 hour class, which the instructor made it fun and not bore you to death, he made sure to keep you engaged in the information as he called on the students to ask questions or answers. After the 5 hour class I signed up for some driving lessons. The secretary was really sweet and helpful as she called me whenever there was an opening to fit my schedule. She also answered all the questions I asked her in a polite manner. As for the driving instructor, mines was strict but also looked out for you. But thanks to the no bullshit mentality I passed on my first try. I would rather have an instructor who corrects you on my mistakes than being too nice. Big shout out to Javier, as a beginner he taught me something new everyday and would add my prior lessons to the next one, which ultimately ended in learning a mock practice driving test in my final lesson. He gave me constructive criticism on my mistakes and how to fix them. Overall, would really recommend this driving school as they really want you to pass the test. Just remember to always study your signs and rules as well, you can't pass just by lessons, you have to be aware of what each sign means. Combining your lessons with learning from the DMV study guide made me pass on my first try! read more

Also, I peaked at the reviews and felt strongly they would help me achieve my goal. My schedule was open so I was able to have my classes booked back to back. Luckily all my lessons were with Alfredo (Ask for him!!) Alfredo is a wonderful teacher. He was very professional and great at being descriptive on each step throughout our classes. He even took the time out to draw scenarios so I could see what it would look like. (for visual learners like myself.) After a few lessons he picked up on a weakness and made sure I corrected it. He made me feel very secure behind the wheel even on our first meet. I cannot thank him enough for being patient and firm with me to see me to the finish line!! Now I have gained the confidence knowing i can drive the streets of NYC safe and properly. I Will definitely recommend Jessi driving school and to book with Alfredo!!! read more

Awful! The people there were rude and ripped me off! They always finish early and the actual lessons were with this 5 foot 1 guy who wears sunglasses (I think his name is alfredo)not to be recognized since he knows he does an awful job. The Napoleon complex on him is strong, he always yells and makes offensive comments while in the car. I didnt learn much from my 10 lesson package since the instructor held the wheel 90% of the time when I drove. I'm a guy so imagine the abuse he puts his female students through. When I tried to leave they told me I signed their paperwork which means if I leave I have to pay the balance of their little contract which is a bunch of nonsense. No other school Ive gone to does this, Save your money and go elsewhere. The 5 hr class was only 2 hrs and it was a sales pitch for their other services brought to you by a non educated, extremely annoying and loud individual. if you see 5 star reviews its fake bc this place is trash the 5hr class was 2hrs and done by a man that yelled the whole time and threw racial insults and jokes the whole time, his name was mario he had a wide nose I remember. But then they try to get you to sign their contract so then they can rip you off and then tell you, you cant break the contract or you will lose all your remaining money, dont let them scare you get your credit card involved so they have to reimburse you. I got alfredo a 5 foot 1 man (with boots on) but he likes to wear sunglasses bc he likes to yell at women if you do mistakes, you can tell he hates his life,job and that he was bullied as a kid possibly rejected by women his whole life. Honestly I can't say enough nice things about everyone at this school. I got my license as a teenager and upon moving to New York, just let it expire. After reading all of the positive reviews and the bonus of it being local I decided to book here. Mario was very straight forward in the 5 hour class and time flew by. Decided to book 3 lessons and I'm super glad because it became very clear how much I needed to unlearn and could benefit Brush up on. I had lessons with how it Alfredo and Mario and both prepared me very well. Happy to say I passed very easily and would recommend to any new or returning driver. Absolutely love love love my experience with Jessi driving school, from front desk, to my lessons with my instructor. Lisette made scheduling my appointments so easy and she tried her try best to accommodate me whenever I needed. She definitely shows she cares about students who come to this school. Nory.M So I took lessons at another school took road text and failed. After a 1yr 1/2 i said let me try again so this time i listen to my friends and go to Jessi. Thank god I listen because I took 4 lessons with Mario, oh what a great straight forward amazingly funny honest person with a great sense of humor he is and I was the happiest person alive. I just got my liscence yesterday yes I passed. Thank you to all at Jessi. Mind you my permit expires in may and they made it possible to put everything in place so i can get my drivers liscence before that day. Best experience ever!!!!! My best friend recommended me this school and i am so glad she did. The two front desk receptionist were very informative. I got the 10 lesson pkg and did my 5 hours with them as well. Mario gave the class with so much energy and so much relevant info. I enjoyed listening to him. I had two instructors and they were just great! They never failed to tell me my weak spots and my strength. I passed my road test on my first try with 13 lessons. They Are Amazing! I started off with a Package 10 lessons/5hr and Road test(Plus The Car). Because I had the 5hr class already before coming here they substitute the 5hr in the Package for another lesson. So it was 11 lessons and Road test. My First 2 classes were with Alfredo the rest with Javier. It was amazing. I went to my road test Friday and failed by One mistake which the guy on the road test said "I got to close to a car" which I was about 1ft away so he pressed the emergency brakes . I then went to (5days later) and Passed it with only 10 points Taken off. I would recommend this school to Everyone I know. They are nice and kind. Even the women's in the front desk. read more

I took my road test and passed it on the first try. I had Rosario and Mario as my two instructors. I paid for the 10 class package which included my 5 hour class, 10 driving classes, and road test. Mario did an excellent job during my 5 hour class and made it easier for me to understand what the inspectors are looking for on the day of the exam. Mario taught me 3/10 of my driving lessons, Rosario taught me the rest of my driving lessons. They both did an amazing job teaching me as well. I'm in high school and a new driver. Both of them helped prepare me for my road test and thanks to them I passed my road test with no problem at all! I recommend this school to every one. read more

ALFREDO, C is the best driving instructor at Jessi. I had only one class with him. He was super nice, give all the right tips. The other instructor I had screamed, got impatient, told me we weren't getting along - wtf, right?! I missed my 2 last classes, only did 4, and today I passed my driving test. Alfredo took us to the test, gave the right tips, and the test went smoothly. Be calm and do what Alfredo tells you to do and you'll pass. And remember, choose ALFREDO, C for your classes unless you like hardcore, impatient, unprofessional, and nervous instructors. I don't! - And thank you all the girls from Jessi. Words can't express the gratitude that I feel, I took my road test TODAY and PASSED!. Jessi Driving School was an amazing experience. I took my 5 hour class there and paid for the 5 class package, as someone who was also practicing on the side I felt that 5 lessons were enough. Mario is an excellent instructor whom I highly recommend. He WILL keep it honest with you and correct you whenever you're wrong without sugar coating to make sure you're prepared for your exam. This school is amazing , my instructor was Javier. I originally came from a different driving school and I failed my test I'm not blaming it on the school but having Javier as an instructor I can immediately see a difference of how they teach. I came in telling him why I failed and we worked on everything I didn't do good on and he taught me new ways on how to do thing that the others didn't teach me. I passed with only 5 points taken away. I'm really happy with how this school treated me and I will defiantly recommended to other people who's looking for a driving school with good prices and deals. read more

I had the 10 lesson package with Jessi Driving School and just passed my road test today :) It was my first attempt, so I was soooooo happy to pass - I only had 5 points deducted on my road test!! My driving instructors were Mario and Antonio, they were great to work with and provided helpful tips and guidance on the road. I don't understand the reviews complaining about the instructors or the business, I learned a ton from these guys and passed my road test in the first shot. Zero complaints here - I highly recommend this place if you're looking to get your license. read more
