First of all, I totally understand why my Husband needed a prenup and I wasn't upset at all about it. He had been previously married and was totally taken advantage of by his ex-wife. This time around, he had to have some level of protection in case this doesn't work out. We talked a lot about the terms of the prenup and were on the same page. Unfortunately, he didn't get to see it before it was submitted to my lawyer and his lawyer wrote it up much differently than discussed. Although we wanted to try and avoid any revisions, that just wasn't possible. Collins went through each section of the document and explained everything to me. He brought up some things he thought were questionable and we made notes on what to discuss later. My hubby and I were able to quickly rectify everything and he contacted his lawyer to rewrite the document. Collins and I met again to ensure everything was to my liking and then I signed it. His assistant is a notary, so I didn't have to worry about paying extra for that service. Overall, it was a good experience. Something that could have been very stressful was made easy.

When I asked if I could speak he said "no you cannot." He said this to me repeatedly. He said I am trying to answer your question and concerns. I told him that he didn't have a full understanding of my concerns because he would not let me speak. He spent more time telling me that I was not able to express myself than it would have actually taken to hear me out. He is definitely not someone that is able to resolve contention rather someone that exacerbates it. To finally close the door on me he said that as a beneficiary I am not entitled to accounting from the trustee for one year and that according to the law he does not have to provide me with anything until that time frame. Therefore I had no standing to request anything from him. He said that he is too busy and backed up to even look at a case for three weeks, pretty much repeating what he said to me approximately 2-3 weeks prior to today's conversation. Again conflict resolution is not his strength. If you want to feel like you don't matter and are not a priority amongst the stack of cases already on his desk please consult with this attorney.
