The setting is so tranquil and beautiful and they are doing everything absolutely right during these times! Reserve your spot, get a table under their beautiful trees socially distanced from other tables. Order delicious beers and pizzas on your phone (through a scan code). Keep in mind, in some of the new seating areas out in the pastures, it is a bit of walk to pick up your food and beer. The sour raspberry Atrial rubicite is sooooo delicious. Pricey...but delicious. Jester King makes it possible to be out of the house, in nature, drinking beer and chatting with a friend or loved one. And to feel safe doing so! You know those places that have this special quality to it? Jester King has that magic in its spacious open fields and I'm always looking to go back. It's giving major rolling plains and serving get-away-from-Austin-without-actually-getting-away vibes. When you finally drive into their dirt path parking area, you'll notice how large and sprawling the space is. They have lots of land and even have a hiking path there too (although I've never gone during the day, so never tried to hike). Service has always been so friendly and knowledgable. The people behind the bar/kitchen love what they do, and it's got great communal/earth-lovin' vibes. Their beers. I mean, I. am. floored. As a self-proclaimed beer snob, I gotta say they always have prime beers. PRIME. The most recent time I went, I had a beet and veggie beer (yes, well...more like infused) that was so juicy and delicious, with the right amount of earthy kick. It was so good. And I've had amazing Belgians, pale ales, even sours (which I'm not usually a fan of). JKB never ceases to fail the haughtiest of beer snobs. Nighttime here is so fun because they have games in the lower bar and live music sometimes. The groups I've been with usually stick to the upper bar area because of cornhole. Plus they are large group, dog, and kid friendly! Everybody and anybody can come. They have cups for those who forgot their doggo's water bowls. They also have food (hot hot pizza!) to order, along with other items like caprese salad. But tbh, I only ever have eyes for their pizzas when I go to JKB. And veggie eaters like me will have at least one or two pizzas to select from, so that's always a plus. Was a wedding guest in their "hall". The ceremony was lovely, the food was good, and overall a great time. But it's honestly irresponsible to offer events during Texas Summer in a open barn without air conditioning in the whole space or even cooling fans. I heard the couple's family had to scramble to get fans because JK changed their tune on providing them. If you want cooled air you'll be hanging out in the bathrooms for a while. I'm surprised no one had a heat stroke. read more

Great environment! Loved being out in the country. They have goats! Sadly we went there during a hot summer day so many things were not open but you can tell this place is a great venue for live entertainment and big events. Their sour beers/ales are amazing! Issues with online food ordering system. Took a while to get the txt confirmation and then it was someone else's order and not mine. Had to go through a long line twice for the staff to figure it out. Why does Jester King allow 2:30pm reservation when last call is 3:30, an hour later. This wasn't made clear on their reservation site. We pretty much drove an hour to stay less than an hour. The food was ready when our time was up. We ended up going to treaty oak and it was way less stressful experience. read more

Large mess of land with a goat farm, out in the beautiful hill country. Go for the brews and cocktails, for which there is a super organized ordering system via your phone and QR code. Stay for the Neopolitan style pizzas, which are ordered in the same way and are customizable and made to order. There's a big space to play and throw the frisbee or whatever, and there's plenty of outdoor and semi-indoor / covered seating. It was hot out when we stopped by Jester King. I'd think it would be preferable to check it out at sunset or after dark. They did have some misting fans which helped a bit but boy was it hot. They had a cute little stage and food. We tried the burger, brisket fries and pizza. The citrus pizza was great and the burger was huge! We tried the drink special which was a lavender margarita and was tasty and strong. The playground was not covered for the kids which would have been really nice. We hear they have goats but sadly did not get to see them as the walk across the meadow in the deadly 100+ sun just seemed undoable with kids in tow. A covered walkway to the goats would be something I'd consider adding or maybe a splash pad. Service was average, nothing to note. read more

This expansive property is well-established and offers a variety of sour, experimental beers, homecooked menu options featuring their home-cultured yeast, a goat garden off their nature hiking trail and many other odds and ends. We took the tour with Mark, who loved to chat about Jester King's offerings, the history, and gave some incredible insight behind what makes JK unique. Commencing the tour in their wort room, moving into the barrel room, and then finishing next to their cool ship, you get a good sense of what JK is trying to accomplish with their brewing. Clocking in at just under an hour, you'll walk away with loads of knowledge about barrel aging and bottle aging beers as well as an appreciation of cool shipping that only happens once in a blue moon in Texas. Once the tour finished, we headed to a couple of their bars to taste the offerings. Each of the bars - pasture bar, kitchen bar, and brewery bar - holds a different selection of JK's beers... So you have to go to each if you want to catch 'em all. We got a couple "tasters" that included a 4 oz pour of each beer! Although, Jester King isn't my newest favorite brewer, I can appreciate their approach and appeal to craft brew lovers. The food is what hit all the boxes for me, personally. We ordered the sourdough bread that came with the most delicious jam spread and beer vinegar as well as the vegan pizza. It was incredible! The flavors highlighted the yeast flavor and it really made the best bread. If JK wanted to market the sourdough, I'd totally be a loyalist. read more

Love coming out here every time I'm in Austin or the surrounding areas. Great for outings with friends or family since there's lots of room for the little ones to run around and lots of covered and uncovered seating. The beer selection is great they of course serve theirs stuff which is great but they also serve brews from other local breweries which I think is awesome. Now one of the things that impress me the most is the amount of renewable energy that powers the brewery I swear there are over 70 panels on that roof keeping everything running smoothly. Beautiful farm grounds to chase a sunset or sit in the dark night. Very COVID safe as far as restaurants goes - I've been a few times and they have all been since the pandemic started. You order via your phone and then pick up at the window once you get your text (masks on). Make sure to make a reservation, especially if you're coming on the weekend - you're not charged to make the reservation which is a great plus. And that drive in is lowkey fun and beautiful! Their food is pretty good, but not amazing. You should get a pizza or two to share! I loved the honey butter the sourdough is served with is *chefs kiss*. They're known for their sours and brews which I always enjoy. I would recommend selecting the Pasture if you want to be a bit further away and spread out. Since you order online and pick up your food/drinks, you will have to walk a little bit farther, but it's way more open. However, after night it gets a bit dark for socializing. BUT if you get the chance, you should try to sit with the goats at the Goat Barn. They are so adorable. read more

Had to make my way out to this award-winning and whacky brewery while I was in Austin, and it did not disappoint. It's an ENTIRE RANCH for bloody sake! Just the coolest thing ever. Wooden barns and benches galore, multiple bars and wood-fired pizza that looks delicious. This place is a dream, if only I was a bigger fan of the crazy beers they produced. However I still found them tasty, and certainly some of the most unique beers that clearly come from skilled hands so I had a fun time of it. I think we can all agree Jester King is a great experience in the Hill Country. It's great for gatherings, for out of town visitors, for a beer on a nice Texas afternoon. Took my family there recently and they really enjoyed themselves. My niece got to see the goats, we got to play cards on a table out in one of the shaded areas. The only snags for us was that my dad has a hard time walking far and so the initial trek to the table was long for him and once we got there, despite reservations, there was no table for us. I went back to the check-in location only to be told to go to the shaded area next to our reserved spot which was a totally different section. So we went, but there was not a single table there. It wasn't that there were occupied tables, it was that the area had no tables at all. So we were left standing there with our drinks looking around at what to do next. My dad didn't want to walk all the way back to the main building, and was starting to say we should just leave, but fortunately I saw a couple leaving a table from our originally reserved area and I ran over and grabbed it. It made the initial impression a bummer for my family. The takeaway is be prepared that your reservation might not guarantee a table when it's busy! Anyway, once we settled in it was great and the property is gorgeous and the trees make it comfortable when the sun is out. It would be awesome if they had like a pub crawler or something riding out to the further parts of the property with drinks available. Or even just a separate bar for that side of the property. We visited on a Sunday and I couldn't have been more excited to check this place out. My bf is a huge fan of Jester King beers . You can only get them at a few bars as well as Whole Foods and Central Market . I've found that Central Market keeps them in stock more often . If you are into hops in your beers , you will be a fan. I highly suggest trying the Noble King one, which has a big ,green lion on it and Snorkel when it's in season , which has smoked sea salt and oyster mushrooms . Yeah, it's that serious! I love the artistic branding of this company. All of their beers have this really eclectic art. They are a farmhouse brewery by the way . Anyway, I got off track for a minute. Naturally, we wanted something unique to do while in town. A laid back place suits me well . So, on the way there, you will go down this somewhat winding road that really stimulates the aesthetic . Okay, i'm just a bit extra . Once there, you will pull up to a ranch style brewery that is split between the brewery and a pizza establishment . I didn't try the pizza . I just think this whole place is simply adorable . So, you will see everyone standing /sitting enjoying their beers in pure delight. There are several picnic tables to just chill or walk around and mingle. There are three areas in which to buy beer in various sizes . 2 outdoors and one inside. One of the outdoor locations only sells bottles. Genius! We took the tour as well. It's worth a 30 minute look into how they produce this stuff . Go ahead and get educated , so you can use this in your everyday language and be impressive . Parking is good. We went around 12 pm, so I would suggest that time. It has a very welcoming and neighborhood -like feel, like you are on someone's private property and you were invited to the dinner party. I highly suggest this place for a lazy Sunday . Wow! I really enjoyed this brewery that me and my friends just happened across when we were out exploring the hill country. They happened to be releasing one of their brews so it was pretty busy. The food was pricey. We got the charcuterie tray. It was good. There were three people in our party and it was just enough to tide us over until dinner. The barrata was okay but the focaccia was AMAZING. Get the focaccia! We were here for a long weekend and found this place on our own but so glad we did. It was a great experience. read more

We were visiting a friend in town who suggested we go to this place. I was a bit hesitant as someone who didn't like beers much and as this was 30 minutes from where we were staying in what seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. I ended up loving my visit! I tried four different ciders or IPAs and was able to find one that I could sip on for the rest of the day. Pizza was pretty good too, not too heavy. The sun had come out by the time we finished our drinks and we got to play some corn hole and interact with some goats. Lovely trails around the farm and we even took home a few packs and merch before we left. Highly recommend! read more

Great brewery! The property is beautiful and there is so much to explore. It is a great place for families to bring their kids. The beer was excellent and we took the brewery tour which was fun! The food was good too- the only complain is the pita bread that came with the sweet potato baba ghanoush was extremely hard, basically stale. Totally in Love with this brewery. My friends told me I would. Not only do they have sours (my faves) but this place is beautiful and so peaceful. I got there on a Saturday around noon. I was expecting a bit of chaos since they were doing the bottle release of 3 of their SPON beers. Walked up, they check everyone's ID. If of drinking age, you get stamped and in you go to enjoy the beers. But, don't worry, if you come with younger kids, they are welcomed to and have plenty of space and some games for them to entertain themselves. They are dog friendly too. The lines for the bottle release were very organized, so was the line for merchandise. Even while they had this event, everything ran smoothly. There's the tap room but, in this particular day, for the special release, they also had a tent to buy the SPON beers by the glass, which I was extremely grateful for, as a tourist, and not knowing about reserving bottles beforehand. They really prepared for the large crowd they were expecting, allowing us to try several beers without the wait. They have biergaten like tables all around, some shaded with beautiful trees, and adorned with some chandeliers. At 1pm on the dot, someone comes out the brewery and shouts for the tour. This one, as I was told they do their beer differently, I was excited to join. We were greeted by master brewer, Garret (who is now pursuing his own beer career with a new brewery), and he explained step by step the process of their beer making and how it makes them different. They call themselves a farmhouse brewery, using local agriculture and spontaneous fermentation. They do not follow an established recipe or use the same hops all the time, they experiment, and they seem to have these experiments well under control, their beers were amazing. The Spon beer - made by spontaneous fermentation and with local fruits were my absolute favorites this day. They had 3 to release and I was able to try them all, in addition to others on their regular menu. Their menu is extensive, and includes some sours and guests beers as well. You might not think you like sours, I know a lot of people that don't, but you must give Jester King a chance. I assure you it will surprise you. I can't wait to have more beers from them. They have become one of my favorite breweries in just one visit. read more

If you find yourself in Austin on a day with gorgeous weather, you better hope you have time to take a trip out to Jester King. We spent about 3 hours out there and honestly could have spent the entire afternoon. So what is there to do? - Brewery tour - Farm tour (Saturdays) - BABY GOATS for the win - Drink very good beer - they have dozens of options (at 4 different bars! thank goodness they have tasters so you can attempt to try them all if you so desire - Eat very good food - we unfortunately didn't get around to this but the pizza and salads and pretzels and bread all looked incredible and we were sad to have missed it. We saw an employee go out to the garden and literally clip herbs for the food. That's how fresh and local their stuff is. - Games - corn hole, etc. There's a huge open field where you can play whatever The weather was incredible the day we were there and the place was PACKED with happy people and happy kids everywhere. This is by far one of my favorite places to come when we have a free weekend or have friends in town. Jester King has beer, pizza, GOATS, and a ton of outdoor seating, what more could you ask for!!! It's a bit of drive from town but worth every minute in the car. The beer is delicious, they have a good selection of beer so we like to try a different one every time we come. The pizza is delicious, I would recommend the citron pizza, absolutely fantastic and we try to get it every time we come. Honestly, half the reason we come is for the goats..we're animal lovers what can we say!! It's a really nice path to get down to their huge enclosure, there is also a pup that hangs out with them that is equally as cute (view pics). The goats are extremely friendly and are usually hanging by the gate looking for pets or they're jumping on the many different objects around them ready to pose for your photo needs. It's a really nice place to take children too, there's a lot of open space for them to run and even a playground! A win win for parents all around! We came out here on a Friday afternoon and had a great time! Jester King is still reservation only, so be sure to make one in advance if wanting a weekend. We had the Luca and Classico pizza and both were delicious! For drinks we enjoyed the Currant Grisette and also tried Recentered, the collab beer with Pinthouse! Both were good, but we both liked the more berry like taste of the Grisette! It's a beautiful property with lots of outdoor seating. Parking was a little tough when we first arrived but we found a spot near the back. We definitely plan on being back and adding the goat experience! read more

Went here with friends for their Bluegrass night. Great to see live music for the first time in a while! I'm not a big fan of sour beers but their Honey Beer is amazing. Super refreshing with just a hint of sour. Their pizzas are awesome as well, great Neapolitan style with the perfect chew. Got the clasico and the ones with beets and both were great! Even on a rainy day there was a great ambience in their covered-open-barn. Highlight was their herd of goats disrupting the show temporarily as the grazed across the property! read more

I came with a group of friends for the Jester King "goat experience": basically, you pay $10 to spend up to an hour in a big pen with a bunch of adorable dwarf goats, both adults and babies. I love goats, and I absolutely loved this: but be warned, the goats *will* try to eat anything. I crouched down on the ground to let a baby goat climb on my back, and the goat literally ate my hair (like, consumed a chunk of my ponytail.) But if you don't get down on the ground like I did, they'll leave you alone . . . for the most part :) Wear comfortable clothes! We stayed for food and drinks after, and while I really wanted to love Jester King, I think it's a bit over-hyped, and *really* over-priced. I split a pizza, which was good - but it cost $17, was burned/black on the bottom in places, and wasn't actually big enough to split. Tap beer prices aren't clearly marked anywhere, and they're not cheap, especially if you want to sample: I wound up paying over $25 for a flight of 5 or 6 four ounce pours. I don't think I've paid that much for a flight at any brewery I've been to. The beer is *funky*: I actually quite like farmhouse ales, and sours, but while some of the beers at Jester King were really enjoyable, many of the beers at Jester King were a bit too funky for my taste: farmhouse, experimental stuff. Not bad, but know what you're getting into! The outdoor space is nice: it's huge and there's tons of shade, and a great spot during the pandemic. read more

Went there on a Sunday afternoon and it was a terrible experience. I tried the mobile ordering service, where they're supposed to text you when the order is ready to be picked up. After waiting 15 minutes, I went to check on the order, 1 cocktail and one beer. When I got to the counter, the drinks were just sitting there. When a server finally came over, I asked if the drinks had been sitting there a while and she responded I a very rude tone that she didn't ring them up, she just came to help me. The beer was warm, in a can, not even a draft. Suffice to say I won't be going back. read more

Awesome brewery with a huge amount of land to enjoy, relax, and play! Great for people with kids, dogs, or want to go have some pizza and beer with friends or family (aka just about everyone)! Ambiance/Service: This place is pretty much self-serve, but the staff is super friendly and will let you try what you need to be happy, even though they are most often times extremely busy. The place is awesome. They have multiple buildings to grab drinks and pizza (different business but amazing pizza!) as well as a ton of space to throw a football or frisbee, play corn hole, whatever you desire for yard games that you want to bring). Food/Drinks: I am not a huge sour fan, so unfortunately this place when it comes to the actual drinks is not my favorite brewery by any means, but i have had some and they are actually quite good, but they do also have a place there where you can order other types of beer (IPA being my favorite), which is great for people not necessarily into sours. They also have a pizza place (different business) on the property that is super good and worth getting when you are there! Definitely recommend checking this place out even if you aren't into sour beers! Do note that the line for the pizza as well as the beer can be quite long, so if you are able to divide and conquer on both lines, that is the way to go. read more
