I agree that one would think that going through a Costco partner would provide exceptional service but I was wrong. I scheduled my consultation nearly 4 weeks ago and left work early to make my appointment. I was a little anxious thinking I may be running late so I called them to let them know the situation. However as soon as the "sales" rep arrived, she seemed distracted or annoyed. Just not the typical sales demeanor I expected. I expected the "sales" rep to educate me on the different types of blinds as well as offer suggestions but that clearly wasn't the case. I think the mood set me off when she began with a rude comment regarding my neighbors blinds. Here are 3 examples of what I don't want to hear or experience from a sales rep: 1) I asked what is opacity and she gave me an annoying look, sorry for the ignorance but it took me a minute for the word to register and she basically pointed to the section I needed to refer to. Sorry, opacity isn't in a word I use every day. 2) I asked her for recommendations on what she thought would be a good set of blinds with kids around and again, it was an annoying glare and said well, what do you want?...simple recommendations, is that too hard of a request? This is your field! 3) She opened up 3 sets of binders and expected me to know exactly what I wanted. It felt like a test and I was being rushed to pick one so she can accurately give me a quote. I indicated that all I wanted was to get some quotes, what sort of costs am I looking at? That was essentially my goal. Her response was, well we can figure that out when you know what you want... Sorry but there were no SALES or customer service skills in her engagement. How can you not take measurements of the areas I'm looking at and suggest different packages? I'm understand the costs vary but they're all by measurement, no? Like I said, I left work early and waited nearly a month. I was surely not going to let this half ass sales rep sit here and waste any more time. I asked her to leave! read more

We thought using a Costco preferred vendor we would get a great product and service. Well guess what we were wrong. Sales Rep wrote down the incorrect color number. Did not supply us with a physical sample or a sample book for verification. We had existing blinds and we requested that the gauge would be the same.This product is 1/2 the weight... The blinds do not close properly... The original blinds shown to the Sales Rep are white she ordered Egg Shell (That is not White). You call customer service and it feels as though you are calling somebodies home. We had been passed on by two people to Michelle (Customer Service) who promised she would replace the blinds and instead she comes back wanting for us to pay 1/2. I saw in multiple other post on Yelp that this is Michelle's normal course of business. Granger and Costco should remove this company. Shop elsewhere!! read more

Costco has partnered with Jet City Blinds. I set up an appointment. Kathleen came out to the house and with professional but warm communication. She was able to make some recommendations as I'm not much for interior design. Kathleen is an interior designer and mentioned her work with Feng shui & Riekie. She was able to explain how subtle difference can work to create an ambiance and positive energy for the home. I'm not a big spiritual "foo foo" guy, but I did have an open mind and enjoyed her perspective that brought in common sense, design science, and alternative energy concepts. The estimate for all the shades was a fair bit more than I expected. I suppose I hadn't looked into it and thought maybe it would be $1000 installed w/ taxes for the whole house. The slider shade alone was about $900. 4x4 windows were around a little over 200 for double cell bottom up. I did some serious digging, and I was not able to find a lower price for the same product and options online. Usually, there is a significant markup that is not competitive with local business. I wrote Kathleen an email asking if we could change a few things to make it closer to my budget and she proposed a 2 phase installation with no commitment to the second phase and nothing changed in the pricing or labor when she narrowed the focus to just the bedroom shades. I respect that. When I was getting new windows, my itemized slider bid was $1000 and the whole job at $5500. When I asked about getting just the slider, the estimate was closer to $3k for it alone. That is not unfair or unexpected as so much of the work happens outside of the few hours for installation. I raise that point to contrast Kathleen's willingness to work with someone's budget and not price gouge the product or labor on a smaller job. I had a good experience. I did not move forward due to my budgeting concerns for other projects, but I would recommend them after the experience I had. read more

I wanted to order window treatments through Costco and this is the company they contract with. Go elsewhere for window treatments! They are horrible to deal with. To make a year-long fiasco short, the sales person didn't measure correctly and didn't explain the products correctly, getting the office to return phone calls is almost impossible and getting a refund is next to impossible. The installers told me to keep the products that didn't fit correctly because they can't take them back. All my bad experiences with this company mirror the other negative reviews. My next call is to Costco. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. read more

I made an appointment for a consultation for a specific date a month in advance. The day before I called to confirm the appointment and also received another phone call from them confirming the appointment. At 4:45pm when the close at 5pm I got an email canceling the appointment because the person was sick. I immediately email back saying in was unacceptable. The employee emailed me back saying she was forwarding my concern to the scheduling department. The next morning the sick employee is only kind of sick now and can come out but later in the afternoon. I told them no. It's obvious they had a scheduling mistake and tried to come up with an excuse of a sick employee. I took my business elsewhere. I would not recommend the Sick employees happen all the time in business. The fact you try to make excuses and have zero plan in place to cover for sick employees is unfortunate and shows a lack in management skills. I'm glad I didn't end up going with your company based off your previous reviews it looks like you never take ownership and make excuses. We are thoroughly disappointed with our experience with Jet City Blinds. We were in the market for custom blinds for our basement and den, so we went with Costco as we've been happy with Costco's services to date. We're taking our issue up with Costco now, as I can't believe they partner with Jet City Blinds. Brian came to our house on June 23 to help us pick out blinds. We agreed on a style and color, and stated that it was important to us that we had these installed in time for our daughter's first birthday party 7 weeks later. He said that wouldn't be an issue - and that we'd likely hear from "Vlad the installer" in just a couple of weeks. As other reviewers have stated - communication from Jet City is completely nonexistent. Our card was charged in full July 1 (+$2500), so we thought they were being shipped - or at least being made. A couple of weeks went by, so we reached out. No reply. We reached out again. No reply. Third time was the charm, and we got a call back simply saying nothing more than "Vlad the installer will be reaching out to you shortly." Vlad contacted us over a week later, and we had an appointment set for August 8 (cutting it very close to our party). So Vlad came - and had 3 of the 4 blinds for the basement, and the one for the den. Apparently one of the basement ones simply "wasn't delivered." As soon as they were up - we noticed that the basement blinds were the wrong color. Vlad showed us the copy of the order that Brian had written down - and none of us could read it. Great. In addition, we have dark dirty fingerprints all over our brand new blinds from the installation. I'm now seeing that as another recurring issue with JCB - installation issues. The 4th blind was delivered just a couple of days later (after the party we had initially ordered in time for), so Vlad was back to install that. So my wife took another day off to be home for the installation. Luckily it was short time - though unfortunately because Vlad showed up with the blind but now the mounting hardware hadn't been delivered. So we were now 8 weeks out from our order, and 7 from us paying in full and we still had not received the product/service for which were were already fully charged. So we contacted JCB again (multiple attempts again before getting a call back - no change there), and Brian came back out to our house. Before even walking in the door - he met my wife at the front door and said "I remember you ordered the Eclipse. Let's go take a look to see what you received." Sure enough - he walks in the basement and freezes - that's definitely not what we received. For the past 4 weeks, my wife has been emailing back and forth with JCB over this - asking them to reply to her multiple times before they reply each time. We asked for a sizable refund (no stated amount, as we were hoping that they'd be reasonable and offer something), which they have flatly declined. Michelle finally replied today to say "I have taken your refund request into consideration. The shades in the basement were originally ordered in Sheffield Chelsea, which is what was signed for on your contract. We remade the shades in Sheffield Eclipse at your request. The Sheffield Eclipse material is considerably more than the Chelsea fabric. We did not charge you for the shades, nor the price difference. So for that reason, we feel accommodation has already been provided." So - while we couldn't read Brian's handwriting, we were sitting in our house with him discussing the material he was ordering (WE WERE HOLDING THE SAMPLE IN OUR HANDS while he was calculating the cost!!!) and what that cost would be. That's the cost we were charged. I don't believe for one second what Michelle has said above. Either Michelle is dishonest with us. Or Brian is dishonest with his company. Regardless - JET CITY BLINDS IS AN ENTIRELY DISHONEST COMPANY and has the worst logistics of any home services company I've seen. Since Michelle got back to us with Jet City Blinds' final stance on this - we are now taking this up with Costco, the Better Business Bureau (for the amount of time they held our payment without delivering service), and all of you reading this here on Yelp. Please do yourself a favor and avoid Jet City Blinds. Don't be fooled by the expectation of quality by working with them through Costco. Costco will likely be ending the partnership with them based on the rapidly increasing number of extremely negative reviews here in the past few months. read more

Update : It's now May 2016, 3 years since I ordered and posted on Yelp and they are saying it wasn't six months. If it took them 3 years to respond to my review, I think it's safe to trust my post that it took them 6 months for the order. Really they should be embarrassed to even respond to this review. ------------- The only good thing I have to say is about Terry P. She was the designer and was FANTASTIC. Everyone at JCB is nice but they never once were proactive in contacting me when blinds came in nor did they reliably return phone calls. The ordering process started in late June and as of today November 5th, the order is complete. It only took a brief 6 months. I could go into detail but I'm not going to. Run to another company!! Worst installation experience ever - and I'm still waiting for a fix - after 4 months !! Costco should be ashamed to refer to this vendor!! I arrived home during the installation to notice that the curtain rod over my sliding door had been installed - with the two end brackets in new holes, and the two middle support brackets in the old bracket holes - about 1 1/2 inches too high for the end brackets. That's right, the rod was curved up in the middle by 1 1/2 inches - no small feat for the installer (!). I pointed out the error, the installer apologized and then remounted the two middle brackets. He then left my home. Only then did I discover I couldn't open or close the drapes. It turns out he made the following errors: 1) By bending the rod, he damaged the junction between the two ends, so the nylon hanger guides "jumped the track" whenever the curtain was opened (necessitating taking down the rod, re-installing the nylon guides etc.) 2) By forcing the rod into a curve, he bent the two middle curtain rod hangers (and stripped the nut on one of them) - so every time I tried to CLOSE the curtains, the hangers "hung up" as they passed over the now bent curtain rod hanger (I had to reach up each time to guide the hangers around the bracket) 3) He mounted the cord at the bottom end with a CORD LOCK that required pulling out (at ground level) to release the curtain pull cords - and he disposed of my old curtain rod TENSIONER which would have worked fine (where the curtain cord is held taut, but is free to pass through the pulley - what he installed actuall locked the curtain cord. 4) The curtain pull cord, not running through a tensioner, but rather through the incorrect cord lock installed by the installer, was completely loose (the cord flopped on the wall) - the installer hadn't properly taken up the slack - probably because he also didn't use a proper tensioner. 5) He stripped the nylon insert for the curtain rod caps so that the screw to tighten the caps onto the ends of the rods can't be properly tightened. 6) When he departed, he left a mess - all of the sheetrock he'd drilled out (sheetrock dust) was left where it fell. I called JCB to report the problem, leaving a message and never heard back from them. Finally, after spending hours trying to fix the problem myself, exasperated, I called Costco - they got a manager on the phone, and the next day I got a call from JCB - but their closest appointment to get someone out to fix the problem was MORE THAN 2 WEEKS OUT. Meanwhile, I have a malfunctioning drape. I finally got tired of having to leave my bedroom exposed at all hours, and climbed the ladder once again to pull down the traverse rod, reload the nylon hanger guides, bend the brackets so the hangers would pass over them, and then had to get a channel lock pliers set out to bend the curtain rod junction back to a position where it would keep the nylon hanger guides on the track. This whole saga makes me sick and has been a huge waste of time. I could have done the complete installation myself and SAVED MYSELF TIME!! It isn't that hard to properly install a curtain rod - I've done it myself many times before and never had a problem. JCB totally blew this installation. read more

our blinds were installed after being ordered weeks earlier................problem and they will not fix. the blinds are 3 inches from the window. there is no privacy. people outside can look right in.. when we called in about our concern, they finally sent someone out. and he could not do us any good. and when we called again, the lady who answered what rude, hostile and a smart ass by saying i.v been hear 30 years and i can't do anything for you. well isn't that wonderful. a blind that is 3 inches fro the window is no blind at all. stay away from this company, because they just want your money and the hell with you if you don't like it. read more

I also thought going through a Costco partner would guarantee great service, but I was wrong. I ordered blinds for three windows, the consultant did not explain to me there were pull cords on both sides of the blinds so I signed the contract specifying the control position was on the right. I would have ordered the cords with the controls switched had I been informed there were cords on both sides. Jet City is now telling met they would be willing to split the cost of a remake of the blinds. The cost to me for their consultant not explaining the blind mechanism to me will be close to $1,000. Apparently they don't care if there consultant is providing the information needed for their customers to make an informed decision. I went to JCB via Costco's blinds offering. The rep that came over was knowledgeable and took the trouble to understand my needs for blinds in the house (privacy vs light etc). However it's been a week and I haven't received a quote or any kind of follow up from them, despite sending them an email, text message and leaving a voicemail. This is quite disappointing because I was hoping to place an order, not to mention that I had to take a couple hours off from work to meet with the rep last week. I guess they don't want my business! I saw this company at Costco and my experience is Costco uses pretty good quality and companies. I needed blinds for one bedroom. I had them come out and give me a quote. The lady who came out was very nice and friendly and worked with me. I ordered blinds for 2 windows, which I found to be very expensive, but I assume I am getting good quality. I have only had them now for about 2 weeks, so I can't speak as to how they hold up. I purchased one black out honeycomb shade for a baby room and one honeycomb pull down / pull up shade for a master bedroom. I am concerned that this one will not hold up as we like using it top down and it is connected by just 4-5 strings. Again, I can not complain about quality. I have been reassured the blinds will hold or Jet City will replace them. The problems: I could not make a scheduling date to have these installed for the life of me. We could not get my availability to coincide with their installers availability. It took 6 weeks to find a date to have these installed. This was very bothersome. They seem to have so few staff that does instillation that the wait time was unreasonable. I would have liked to know this and had an instillation date set at the time I ordered. This company knows they need to install the blinds they sell, so higher some more employees. The instillation process took 20 minutes max. Literally it might have been less, that's awesome right?! Yea, not when you discover that they took the old blinds down and leave them on the floor with all the screws all over the floor. Now I have a large pile of blinds to figure out how to get rid of. They won't fit in my trash can, they are like 6 feet long and I am certainly not paying for an oversize trash day. These blinds were costly enough. Being pregnant and having this to deal with was so disenchanting. Having to step on screws just pissed me off to the point where I will never recommend Jet City blinds to anyone. It even brought me here to leave this review. I wish I had read the reviews first. 2 and a half stars is not a company that I would do business with. The business owner did contact me and offer to pick up the blinds that were left on my floor. That was kind and I should have called to speak to someone. read more

I purchased 2 blinds through Costco which they contracted with Jet City Blinds to handle the transaction. The person who came to take measurements was very friendly. I ordered 2 horizontal Graber blinds for my sliding doors on July 5th. On August 10th they came to install both blinds but one slider was measured incorrectly and could not be installed. this one was a blackout that we really needed for the summer. The installer re-measured and said he'd reorder the blinds as a rush order due to the error. After 3 weeks I made several calls to Jet City Blinds leaving messages to get status on the reordered blind. At this point I had no idea if the blind was even ordered. I remembered that the installer called me the day of the first install, so I had his number and called him to see if he could find out status of my order. BTW... Jet City Blinds sub contracts their installation to another company. The person at the installation company called me back to say the order was placed but didn't know what the status was. After a few more calls to Jet City Blinds and the consultant I finally caught someone in the office who was able to tell me the blinds we shipping in the next few days. No rush was put on the order but I was told "they did take 1 day less that the original order". I asked when I would have them installed and they said I would be receiving a call from the installers to set that appointment. I ask if they could put a priority on the appointment but was told it's up to the installer's schedule. On September 30 (only date available that I didn't have to take time off work as I had to do for the first install) the blind was installed, but once it was opened I realized it was not the blackout blind that I ordered. Once again the installer said he'd reorder the blind. I insisted that when the order was placed with Jet City Blinds that someone from JCB call me. No call... On October 7, I placed a call to JCB to get status on my order and was told that the mistake was Graber's mfg who made the wrong blind last time and that Graber expedited the blind order. JCB said my blind "were shipping today from the manufacturer by 2nd day air" and they would arrive October 11th. I would receive a call from the installers on October 12th to get them installed immediately. Well it is October 18th and I have not heard a word from either JCB or the installers. I called Costco to make a formal complaint after the last install. I am ashamed that this type of customer service is so easily accepted by all three companies involved. I understand that errors happen but what I refuse to accept is the awful communication from Jet City Blinds and lack of accountability for their business. I wished I had read the reviews on Costco blinds before handing over $1900. read more

Rich if your sales person had told me how heavy these faux wood blinds are for a picture window of my size I would not have ordered it. The blinds I paid for where $118.34 more expensive then the ones you replaced them with. Which is what I had a one inch aluminum blind. I would not have replaced the two blinds that where not broken. Replacing those two windows was a cost of $518.03 that I would not have spent. I asked for a discount from the first time I discovered the issue that they were not meant to be pulled up on a daily basis being that big. If not having my calls returned for almost four weeks by Michelle (office manager) and Stephanie(the sales rep) is not being ignored I don't know what is. read more

On the appointment day, nobody showed up and nobody called. I called and left message on their office number, and mobile number, still nothing. You've been warned.. do not waste your time with this company!!! We had thought going through Costco would always be the best choice, but reading many reviews (and the owner's reply to some of the reviews, wow..) I whole heartedly believe Costco really made a huge mistake choosing this vendor to work with. Out of all the blinds companies that we've contacted, they are by far the most unprofessional. When I made my first initial call to Costco, JCB was supposed to call me to set up an appointment within two days, of course they didn't call. I called again in a week, that was when they put my case on a high urgency list and assured me they should call in a day or two. Of course, no call again. This happened one more time, and I talked to a supervisor at Costco another week later, and Costco being Costco, they were very nice and helpful, so I decided to give them one more chance. What really pushed me over the edge was Costco called me a few days later, telling me that they were told that JCB has reached out to me and had already set an appointment with me, which was a BLATANT LIE. I had NO calls, NO voicemails, and certainly NO conversations/interactions whatsoever with this company. Seriously, how professional do you think this company could be if they could just make up lies like this? It IS obvious that Costco customers don't get priority, but if you're too busy, then SAY you're too busy so we can all move on with our lives. If you can't take on this many customers, then end your partnership with Costco! I really wanted to use Costco for my blinds, so I had to hold off on getting my blinds done waiting for their non-existent calls. What a waste of everyone's time! But you know what, I was glad it turned out the way it did, I would rather waste a month of my time than to waste thousands of dollars on this unprofessional company. So it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. UPDATE - In reply to the owner - April 4th 2018 Rich V, That's funny, I find YOUR reply very uncalled for. Where you "are" right now, is a lot of unhappy Costco customers leaving you bad reviews on yelp, and I can clearly see why. I'm glad you have so much faith in your company and your employees, that you think all of the problems lie in your customers. It really says so much about you. FYI, I called Costco on December 21, I called again on December 28 that put me on the "High priority list" AND again on Jan 2nd with Laurel at Costco, who left a message for me that your company had contacted me and had scheduled a consultation. I told them that it never happened, and it wasn't until Jan 8th, I got a phone call from your company wanting to set up an appointment. You are right, there was never an appointment with you, because it took you three weeks to call back, NOT the so called 48 hours. In regards to you looking through my other reviews, it's interesting how you feel the need to point out that I left perfect reviews for another blinds company the next day, same with furniture stores. It's true I don't leave reviews RIGHT AFTER I make a call or a purchase, does that make my reviews any less truthful though? The other blinds company is 1000 times more professional than your company in my experience and opinion, and yes, it was left the next day I posted your review, but I honestly don't see what the/your problem is? I set up a consultation and quote through Costco after receiving a recommendation to get honeycomb blinds through the free Puget Sound Energy home consultation. Kay called on her way to let us know she was running late, which was so appreciated! Many would have just shown up near the "window" in which we quoted. She brought several samples in a variety of styles and worked with our budget. We ended up ordering the blackout honeycomb style for an oversize window in the living room and for two windows on either side of our fireplace. We were told 6 to 8 weeks for the order. Our order came in early after just 3 weeks. We were given a time frame of 8am-10am for the installer to show up. Vladimir called on his way to our house, about 9:20am, to let us know he was running late and would be at our place in 30 to 60 minutes. He was incredibly professional and courteous, and had them installed in less than 30 minutes. I received an email that same day from Costco with a copy of my work order and to inform me my 10% back Costco cash card would be in the mail.
