While the employees working delivery pickup are pleasant, this store needs quality control improvement. I began doing grocery pickup due to the various rude employee interactions via the store. The employees putting the groceries in your car are very pleasant, however this is approximately the 3rd time I've received expired food & fruit. Man this Jewel is ghetto...and I don't mean the people, I mean because nothing works. I came here to get some stuff while waiting for my food at the Thai place next door (which I highly recommend, unlike this Jewel) to get done. I get a cart outside and the wheels were messed up and took me in weird directions. The next two did the same. I ended up going in cartless and then the door wouldn't open. I backed up and let the guy behind me try and he walked into it. I just ended up pushing it open so that guy and I could get in and thats when someone working here came and said I'd break it. I told her it was already broke because it didn't open and the guy I walked backed me up, and the somewhat rude and mad lady said "no, just do this..." but I don't know why she'd expect us to know a specific method to open automatic doors that break. Inside, they were out of a lot of stuff and the deals were not great. I eventually ended up finding a working cart abandoned by the exit. read more

This was a blast from my past. I haven't been to a Jewel-Osco in longer than I can remember. I've been shopping at bigger grocery stores and some of the discount places for most of my life now it seems. When I was growing up we were always going to Jewel because it was the closest grocery store to where I lived. Things have changed a lot over the years though. As I no longer live in the Chicago area the stores I shop at are so different. I was on my way back to my hotel late in the day and was hoping to find some items to snack on the following day and possibly find a couple items that I was hoping to bring back with me to Florida. When I entered the store the first thing I noticed was it felt like I'd stepped into the past. The store is smaller inside than I seem to remember but they did have quite a lot to choose from. As it was close to closing I was kind of rushing to get through but I just couldn't find what I was looking for. On my second pass by the dairy section I noticed the Oberweiss milk. I stopped and considered it as it was the only brand of milk I could have that didn't mess my stomach up. I didn't want to buy a large bottle of it though. I then noticed their lemonade and as I was reaching for it I saw the reddish bottle that was the raspberry lemonade and I grabbed one of those. I consider it expensive but worth it as a treat for me and one of my kids who got to try it. Now I just have to return the bottle for the $2 deposit. While I didn't find what I was looking for my friends in the area shop here with frequency. read more

This is one of the smaller locations I've ever been to, like small enough that I had a hard time passing cart next to cart in one of the aisles. The customer service was extremely friendly and I had no issues finding standard groceries. The meat counter even wrapped up fresh meat for me when there wasn't any left in the display cooler. Be careful in the parking lot, there have been some police activities here in the not too distant past. read more

This Jewel is definitely convenient but I'm always skeptical of the meats here. They tend too look old and not so fresh. I even wonder if its sat out and then been refrigerated after a period of time. They have a great deli counter section. The seafood section doesn't always look appealing either. I'm usually more comfortable going down the road to the Lagrange Jewel but for the sake of quick items water, liquor, chips, etc...you can usually find what you need. There is an older caucasian lady at the self checkout that seems to always watch people as if someone is stealing. It would be nice if she at least spoke and greeted people if she is going to appear so creepy and mean. The cashiers are usually young but friendly. There was an older black man that worked in the meat dept who was always very kind. If you need help in this store you can forget about it. No one ever speaks or ask do you need assistance or are you finding everything you need. Sad part is there is a lot of people who shops here because it is a neighborhood store. If they would improve the options of available meat options I would love to shop here for everything. But in the interim I'll keep going to multiple stores. You know with the cost of everything going up you would think that people would appreciate that people are still still supporting businesses versus pulling back. read more

Really unfortunate that this is the grocery store that's closest to my home. I've been shopping here for decades, and it's seriously dropped in quality over the last few years. The produce - if what you're looking for is even in stock - is usually old, or even moldy. Compared to other grocers, the number of healthy snacks and ethnic ingredients is minimal. And if you're looking for vegan food, this place is really lacking. This location honestly feels outdated. Don't even get me started on the deplorable customer service. Does anybody say hi anymore? I get that this place isn't Disneyworld, but the lack of assistance and downright meanness that some of the employees here display is irritating to deal with. I couldn't even go to the self-checkout recently without having an employee silently zoom towards me and stand there with their arms crossed like a guard. Way to be subtle. You seriously think I'm about to steal from this place? I was still polite enough to say "Thank you" and "Have a nice day" to the employees upfront after dealing with such horrible energy, and I the energy I got back wasn't very happy. You're better off driving to the nearby Trader Joe's or Whole Foods for your grocery shopping needs. You'll actually find what you need, and you won't have to deal with nasty attitudes and employees breathing down your back in self-checkout. Nice! Especially for the folks in the deli who ask things like "what do you want to get?", then proceeds to not listen to your order or in his words "what I wanted to get", nor how many pounds I asked for. Also... Why doesn't the store require that employees that have long facial hair wear netting to catch any loose hair? I'm sure there is something that some food and health agency has for proper certification. This is my local Jewel. Not as fancy as some of the other Jewel in the area. We don't have a sushi bar, or a large cheese counter or anything crazy like that. But we do have a pretty good liquor section. In fact you can actually get some stuff cheaper here than you can at a liquor store. I've never had a problem with the staff. Just remember your Jewel card because certain people are strict with that. I don't think it's dirty or anything it's just a regular old fashion, non uppity, neighborhood store. Period. read more

I was at this store on today going threw the self checkout line, mind you there were 3 store associates there when I was checking out. The older Caucasian woman manager with the short hair and bags under her eyes went to the service desk, next thing I know I couldn't continue with my purchases due to the light and snow associate will be with you shortly. So she another associate waves for her and she comes to the register and I say what's the problem with you all stopping the register everytime I scan an Item .I know thats what you do when you think someone is stealing(seen a Walmart special on the cameras at self checkout and how the staff stops the register). She states oh it's the camera right there what are you talking about. I stated no its you and I can pay for everything I have and your pay to so stop the crap. She continues oh it says the bread is the last thing that rang up and I stated yes she looks over and repeats. Now I'm passed cause I've only scanned 15 dollars so far could not continue due to her stopping the register every scan. This is ridiculous I started to throw everything cI had on the freaking floor. Okay. Moved into the neighborhood just north of this Jewel a year ago. I shop here because, well, it's two blocks from home. That's the best thing I can say. But today...August 11, 2020...I could not shop here because a sign in the window (that looked like it was written by a third grader) said CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. There were still employees in the store. I could see them. It wasn't fallout from yesterday's big storm. Everyone, including Jewel, has power here. A COVID-19 outbreak seems likely, but not a peep anywhere about it. :-( read more

(a cashier at this location) needs to hold customer service classes for the rest of the employees that work with her - I am giving Jacqueline R. the 5 stars - Jacqueline greets you with a warm smile and a friendly hello whenever you step into her line. Every time I stop in I continue to ask myself why am I here. The store is small and outdated. They do not seem to have a good handle on their inventory levels as they seem to be out more often than not...especially on sale items. I have bought items that have expired or about to expire with a day or two. Not a good look. The only employee that I like there is the older butcher. Always has time to chat and certainly answer any question you have about different cuts of meat. Many of the cashier's are too busy talking to the baggers and can't wait to go on break or for their shift to end. All things that do not need to be discussed in front of their customers. Another huge issue is they never seem to have enough check out people, especially during peak hours. I am never going to question why am I in this place again as I will be going to Marino's in Westchester for now on regardless if the cost is more. read more

I never shop at Jewel unless I'm buying alcohol. This Jewel has the worst parking lot and it has no food selection whatsoever. If you want groceries, go to Mariano's, Pete's, or Costco. So I went to get some alcohol in the alcohol section and apparently, I was in the employee's way and she loudly said EXCUSE ME! with attitude. No, excuse you, rude employee, you don't scream "excuse me" in a loud voice so I, the customer, should get out of your way. I guess I like this Jewel's since I keep coming here. It's small. It has what most Jewel's have to offer. Prices are about the same. This location has a TCF inside also for banking or atm needs. The employees are pretty friendly too. I haven't had any bad experiences so that's a plus. read more

Pretty good Jewels! I have been to a few different Jewels in the area and of them I really like the staff at this location. They are very nice and helpful to everyone. For some reason I'm always confused when I come in...THINGS ARE JUST HARD TO FIND! SIGH. Nevertheless as long as they help me I'm happy! I honestly like the people in the meat market best though. There is an older gentleman I can't remember his name but he's the best. Always friendly.. always asking how my day has gone... and seeming to be genuine in asking. I know if she's doing it to me she is probably doing it to others. I called the manager as soon as I left the store to reported the issue. In the pharmacy at Jewel/Osco in Westchester, everybody is hiding behind the counter, and are in denial of the fact that the pharmacist should have a professional license and are obliged to post their license in the customer's view. I transferred twenty prescriptions to this pharmacy in August of 2018, in the beginning the pharmacist "Elena Guerra" promised to deliver all my prescriptions on a timely manner without missing any medication refill. From the first order there has been nothing but problems; they do not fill the prescription on time, when you ask the status of the medication they are confused and not able to find the medication on their system, they charge the insurance for the medications and do not include the medication in the packet. They make you sign a document without you knowing what you are signing. In October of 2019, I realized that they had failed to fill eight medication between July 2019, and September 2019. I decided to approach the pharmacist "Elena Guerra", she denied any wrong doing and claimed that she had filled all the medication in that period and refused to provide any proof. I requested for her full name and pharmacist license number, since it was not posted in my view, instead she threatened me by calling the security. I decided to contact the Osco Pharmacy Regional Manager "Anthony Atkin", whom I had contacted six month prior to complain about the same issue. I called the number I had (708)935-2617, few times for couple of weeks. The answering system just say I am not available without mentioning any name or title. I left a few massages with my phone number. I eventually received a call from someone with the name of "Mathew Siemiawski", supposedly being the Regional Manager incognito. I requested the pharmacist "Elena Guerra" and his pharmacist license number since they were not posted in the Osco Pharmacy in Westchester, Illinois. He refused to do so and indicated since they are employees of Osco they do not have to post their license in the place they practice. I gave him the eight medications that had not been refill in last three months with proof of document. I also asked to speak with the Regional Manger's Supervisor. Mathew Siemiawski never gets back to me and refused to return my calls. If I was you I would not do business with the Osco in Westchester, not even with any Osco in the Region Westchester is. They do not look like and act like a licensed pharmacist, they just hide behind the name "Osco" without any reputation. read more

This store is stuck in the 70s. They allow the employees to smoke 6 feet outside the entrance 3 feet from the propane tanks. WTF?!?!?! I talked to the yellow pit stain "manager" about this and he gave a bs run around story. No bicycle parking. They are encouraging short trips in the neighborhood to be completed by car. i went there to purchase alcohol with a friend. my friend got his id rejected because allegedly their policy prohibited them from taking foreign ids. this is false though because we went there countless of times and never once had issues with purchasing alcohol with that type of id. i suspect that the lady didnt want to take it because it was foreign and not a usa id. dont bother going there, their customer service id terrible and all the staff seem to always present an attitude, youre better off going to a better place. read more

Well stocked, and a good source for randomly good deals. The sales overall are just ok. I'm not trying to brag by any means but I swear I get hit on here 50% of the time, which is NOT a good thing. Just recently buying a house in the area, Made this my go to Jewels. I used to enjoy it. Can't say I feel the same any more. A big part of it for me is customer service, which they lack. The employees are not approachable, rude, and offensive. Also the fact that there about 20 rude employees on the floor but one cashier open. I really don't like to leave bad reviews but I feel like this is such a bad issue for this store now. I stopped in jewel yesterday. As I'm walking through the employees ( 2 young girls) are telling back and forth through the Deli/bakery section about how she's so mad that the other staff are eating her fucking seafood salad and or throwing it away and she can't stand this fucking place or their fucking asses (her words)! Sorry for the language but this is what she felt the need to yell through the department with customers all around and my 8 year old next to me. Is there no criticing in your hiring and interviewing process? Another time I came in for a cake, found one I like and asked the lady at the bakery if she could just write welcome back on it for me.
