The deal they gave me. For less than $170, I walked out with a Yamaha RX-V765 receiver, a pair of Rockville APM5 Active Studio Monitors, 8 satellite speakers, and a subwoofer. That's over $500 worth of audio gold, and I'm not sure if I was getting the deal of a lifetime or if they were just desperate to clear inventory. Either way, I didn't ask questions--I just smiled and paid. Now my living room is a sonic paradise. I've got stadium-quality sound that transforms my house into whatever vibe I'm feeling. Plus Ulta basically had their own separate entrance for even quicker pickup. The one restroom area I saw on the directory was clear on the other side. Seems like for such a seemingly expansive mall that another set should be developed on this end. Then when I got to the women's restrooms there was an awkward line because of the tight area. There were 3 - maybe 4 - stalls. That's not enough for this mall! Lol. Then they had only the dryers you dip your hands into for drying--no paper towels which would not normally bother me but it was grungy like the rest of the facilities. Leaving the parking lot to enter the Interstate 25 west was also a bit of a hassle, but thanks to friendly folks, I got out quicker than the right-turners in front of me. I pointed out that they could recover their lost funds from the post office since shipping is insured *for the shipper.* They wanted to keep my money in hand while they sorted that out. Then they asked if *I* had contacted the post office. Umm, I'm not eligible for anything with the post office for a package I didn't send and never saw! Lol. I've never heard of such a ridiculous business practice. They finally refunded my money when I got the better business bureau AND my post office involved. Spare yourself a lot of runaround and don't give them money in the first place. Shop elsewhere.

My sewage line wasn't draining properly so I got bid from them. They used a camera (sophisticated) to explore the sewage line, which was about 60 ft from the fence line/alley. Guy said that it was old clay pipe that needed to be replaced for $7000. And they would have to replace it all the way to the city main, which would make Abilene the only city that allows anyone to work on their city mains. So just to check on what the city had which I figured was upgraded to pvc (it was) I dug down to the sewer line at the edge of the property. So I started digging down to the sewer line a couple of other places just to verify what the plumber claimed. It ended up only being clay about 10 ft on my property from the city's line. So if the guy had been honest and not tried to grossly exaggerated or pad the estimate he would have said replace the 10 feet of clay because he couldn't have missed it with the camera that he ran from the trap next to my house down toward the fence line. This is probably a common way that unscrupulous plumbers line their pockets. It took a day to dig up that 10 ft of clay and replace w pvc. Cost $89 for supplies. What a profit margin. The sad thing or maybe part of the scam was the fish (Christian) symbol on his truck.

I had a carpenter ant problem, and the first tech was great although he showed up pretty early. He was a very friendly and professional former member of the military. He seemed knowledgeable and told me to give the chemicals time to work but to call back if I still had ants. The price I was charged was somewhat higher than I was quoted but I was told they guarantee their work and would come back as many times as it took to take care of the problem. A few weeks go by and I call to let them know I still have the ants- they never left although I did find some dead ones for a few days. I was to,d they would come back to treat again. They called to cancel the initial appointment as my tech had a death in the family. I expressed sympathy and told them no problem. I rescheduled and then they called on the new day to change the time. I agreed to work with them and they sent a different tech out. He was courteous and went quickly about his work. Told me to give things time to take effect but let them know if I still have ants. A few weeks go by and I call to report that the ants are still not gone. I was told I would be charged again in full because my "warranty" had run out. I tried to explain that they never got rid of the ants but was told there was no way around having to pay another couple hundred bucks. My understanding of warranties is that you buy something and the warranty guarantees it for a set amount of time. I was under the impression that they would get rid of the ants and guarantee me they would stay gone for 3 months or whatever. I didn't get what I paid for to begin with so not comprehending why my warranty would be out. I'm thankful Lawrence Hall didn't declare the warranty on my truck expired before I got the truck! Two stars because they were courteous but I didn't get what I paid for and will now need to find a pest control company that can actually get rid of carpenter ants.
